Why would you need Xbox Live and a wireless adapter? Why does everyone assume everyone needs a wireless adapter and Xbox Live? Oh and this chart is a better comparison.

[QUOTE="Couth_"][QUOTE="BigDaddyPOLO"]You don't need a wireless adapter unless you're too lazy to use wires.BigDaddyPOLO

That's a rediculous statement. Plenty of people need WiFi, including myself

Yeah because everyone lives in a mansion with their computers and consoles in opposite ends of the compound, or on a football stadium.

Who said everyone? Anyone with more than one PC in the home probably needs Wifi.. My dad has a wired connection in his office. I have my PC in my bedroom, and the PS360 in the living room. I've had a wifi network in my home for probably a good 10 years

Actually, here is the real price comparison:

80 gb PS3 with built in wireless, bluetooth, and blu-raydirect from sony using their sony rewards program - $270 new with taxes

Dualshock 3 controller from newegg.com with free shipping - $42.99 new

Free Online for the life of the console - $0

Motorolla H710 Bluetooth Headset from Amazon.com (this is what I have) - 36.51 new

Total for all this awesomeness at the same prices I purchased all of it - $349.50

Couth_

I just bought a 360 as well... 60gb Premium model from dell.com- $255 (headset included) Wired Controller from amazon- $29 (wired so I can use it for PC also) 3rd party wireless adapter - $40 Total: About $324. Have not paid for live though.. Would rather chalk that up to the price of games rather than the price of the console

That's not a bad deal. It all depends upon what kind of features you enjoy. For me, I love having my wireless built in and the ability to use by bluetooth headset both with my PS3 and my cellphone. Not to mention the added functionality of having a blu-ray player with HDMI outputand a true surround with optical audio output as I'm sort of an audio/video-phile. Plus, it's really nice to have wireless controllers; even if they are both incredibly overpriced on both the PS3 and the 360. Thefree online with the PS3 is what really lured mein as the long term savings for online gamingcan not be ignored. Plus, I can swap out my hard drive for a 500 gb for around $50.

I pay for xbox live monthly which costs basically nothing and use ethernet. Why do cows do everything possible to make the 360 seem more expensive insecurity?

My router is 3 feet from my Xbox 360, I also have 2 laptops & a gaming rig but they all connect to router wireless. However I have spent $80 on Xbox Live since 2006. Microsoft has given 1 year for free recently. HD, headset, & wireless controller all came with my console.

I paid more for my 360 than my ps3.

Xbox console $350 (1 year ago), wifi $100, Plug and play charger $20, XBL $50 = $520

PS3 (fall) + HDMI cable $10=$410

So the OP's argument makes sense to me, considering how that is exactly what happened in reality. For me the PS3 was cheaper.

Not to mention that the Ps3 included a blueray player that I use all the time (my 360 got the RROD too).

He owns both consoles and is trying to relay his personal purchasing experiences. I too once owned a 360 (around the time of launch) and it was far, far more expensive to maintain and equip with accessories than my current PS3.

Cows don't put up the price it's true.. For the xbox 360 to be equal to the PS3, they come out to ABOUT the same price (with HDD, and WiFi) Sure many people don't NEED those, but some people do

That is correct, but I don't have any plans of packing my Xbox 360 out to the garage, back in the house, out to truck, etc.. It sits in the same spot forever therefore wifi is useless for it.

Lucky for you. I and many people need a wifi network.. And I am completely fine with it as my wifi connection is faster than the average wired connection

I actually got my Xbox 360 for free when I bought my 42" Samsung Plasma so I can't really argue much on price, but can say that you shouldn't have to pay extra for a feature your not going to use.

Fair enough but the 360 in the real world costs $199 up front.

But in the real world the $200 arcade system doesn't have the features that most people want. Its gimped. I don't know a single person who bought an Arcade that didn't go out and buy an HD and XBL and probably the plug and play. If they need wifi, forget about it.

For someone who never wants to play online, ration out their saved their games, never download anything, buy batteries every week, yes then the $200 arcade is cheaper. But who are these people, I don't know any of them.

And I doubt you paid less than $200 for it, even "upfront". So stop acting like you can walk up to gamestop with nothing but 2 C notes and walk out ready to game

Yeah he would have to have some where around $15 for taxes & then $ for games.

I live in Scotland not America.

[QUOTE="TR800"][QUOTE="furomaster_99"]Oh??? MS fixed the rrod? Hey, you might want to get that info to MS so they can make a public announcement.

Mr_Ditters

Ive had my 360 for a year and no RROD and it's a bit desperate using the RROD card.

You better go find some wood to knock on. You have my personal guarantee. You will get the RROD.

As I recall, Jaspers and up don't have the problem. Hope you haven't wagered money on the prospect.

Hey I'm just saying thats what actually happened.

Mr_Ditters

Fair enough but the 360 in the real world costs $199 up front.

But in the real world the $200 arcade system doesn't have the features that most people want. Its gimped. I don't know a single person who bought an Arcade that didn't go out and buy an HD and XBL and probably the plug and play. If they need wifi, forget about it.

For someone who never wants to play online, ration out their saved their games, never download anything, buy batteries every week, yes then the $200 arcade is cheaper. But who are these people, I don't know any of them.

True the $299 model is all that is needed.

No, you stated that rrod is no longer a problem. It's still failing way more than it should.

The thing is the chance is much smaller than before and anyway no matter how much it happens im sticking with the 360, although i will be buying a PS3 when GT5 finally comes out.

Well, I think MS should have recalled and fixed the problem instead of an extended warranty. That is the number 1 reason why I didn't buy an xbox 360. I refuse to support business practices such as that.

I respect that but the failure rate is far smaller.

They've both cost me around the same. Maybe the 360 slightly more because of 3 years of XBL.

I pay monthly which is around 5GBP i think, its still the same in the long run but it makes a big difference when you have stuff to pay.

60GB 360 with Backwards Compatibility is $299.

80GB PS3 without Backwards Compatibility is $399. So add $130 for a PS2 and you have $529

With that sort of difference I could afford a stand-alone BD player and 2yrs of Live which has been substantially better than PSN up til right now. Live has been smashing anything PSN has had to offer since 2002 because you get what you pay for. Sony or the game devs eat the cost which is bad. Although Live should now be halved in price.
