Why would you need Xbox Live and a wireless adapter? Why does everyone assume everyone needs a wireless adapter and Xbox Live? Oh and this chart is a better comparison.

That's a rediculous statement. Plenty of people need WiFi, including myselfYeah because everyone lives in a mansion with their computers and consoles in opposite ends of the compound, or on a football stadium. :roll:Who said everyone? Anyone with more than one PC in the home probably needs Wifi.. My dad has a wired connection in his office. I have my PC in my bedroom, and the PS360 in the living room. [QUOTE="drj077"]I just bought a 360 as well... 60gb Premium model from dell.com- $255 (headset included) Wired Controller from amazon- $29 (wired so I can use it for PC also) 3rd party wireless adapter - $40 Total: About $324. Have not paid for live though.. Would rather chalk that up to the price of games rather than the price of the consoleActually, here is the real price comparison:
80 gb PS3 with built in wireless, bluetooth, and blu-raydirect from sony using their sony rewards program - $270 new with taxes
Dualshock 3 controller from newegg.com with free shipping - $42.99 new
Free Online for the life of the console - $0
Motorolla H710 Bluetooth Headset from Amazon.com (this is what I have) - 36.51 new
Total for all this awesomeness at the same prices I purchased all of it - $349.50

That's not a bad deal. It all depends upon what kind of features you enjoy. For me, I love having my wireless built in and the ability to use by bluetooth headset both with my PS3 and my cellphone. Not to mention the added functionality of having a blu-ray player with HDMI outputand a true surround with optical audio output as I'm sort of an audio/video-phile. Plus, it's really nice to have wireless controllers; even if they are both incredibly overpriced on both the PS3 and the 360. Thefree online with the PS3 is what really lured mein as the long term savings for online gamingcan not be ignored. Plus, I can swap out my hard drive for a 500 gb for around $50.

My router is 3 feet from my Xbox 360, I also have 2 laptops & a gaming rig but they all connect to router wireless. However I have spent $80 on Xbox Live since 2006. Microsoft has given 1 year for free recently. HD, headset, & wireless controller all came with my console.

Xbox console $350 (1 year ago), wifi $100, Plug and play charger $20, XBL $50 = $520

So the OP's argument makes sense to me, considering how that is exactly what happened in reality. For me the PS3 was cheaper.
Not to mention that the Ps3 included a blueray player that I use all the time (my 360 got the RROD too).

He owns both consoles and is trying to relay his personal purchasing experiences. I too once owned a 360 (around the time of launch) and it was far, far more expensive to maintain and equip with accessories than my current PS3.
And most laptops now come with WiFi standard, because it's the easiest way to connect too.. Fair enough but the 360 in the real world costs $199 up front. But in the real world the $200 arcade system doesn't have the features that most people want. Its gimped. I don't know a single person who bought an Arcade that didn't go out and buy an HD and XBL and probably the plug and play. If they need wifi, forget about it.
For someone who never wants to play online, ration out their saved their games, never download anything, buy batteries every week, yes then the $200 arcade is cheaper. But who are these people, I don't know any of them.

60GB 360 with Backwards Compatibility is $299.
80GB PS3 without Backwards Compatibility is $399. So add $130 for a PS2 and you have $529
With that sort of difference I could afford a stand-alone BD player and 2yrs of Live which has been substantially better than PSN up til right now. Live has been smashing anything PSN has had to offer since 2002 because you get what you pay for. Sony or the game devs eat the cost which is bad. Although Live should now be halved in price.
