It'd be interesting to see how well Wii would sell if Nintendo kept them stocked on shelves. You know, instead of sending 5 every 2 weeks to your local Wal Mart, or whatever ridiculous amount of limited numbers they are shipping each month. I have a feeling they are going to keep stock low for a few more years at least, to keep demand up of course, but for further insurance they will come out on top this generation.

If people cared so much about graphics,

then why is the Wii pummeling the 360 and PS3 in sales?

why has the DS clobbered the PSP?

Why did the PS2 crush the GC and Xbox?

Nintendo ships 1.8 million Wii's a month, which is a larger shipment of consoles than any other console manufacturer could ever hope to sell.

The ps3 and 360 have sold almost 30 millon to gamers. The Wii has sold 20+ million to the general public. Look at it's sales. Mario and Sonic Olympics 5 million+ already  These games will keep the public happy for a couple years before they move on. Of course the Wii has it's hardcore gamers but they don't stack up to the 360 and Ps3s

The way I see it, the Wii isn't a gaming system, it's a toy, a toy that appeals to ALL ages so of course it sells.

The real reason is because the majority of people excited about it are non-gamers and completely ignorant of what is actually good in a game and console.

Exactly, and the general public/casual market will get bored of the Wii in due time (couple of years) while the 360 and Ps3 will have their hardcore fanbase, which is why the wii wont outlast them

I personally dont think so. the wii bubble is eventually going to burst. People are going to get tired of the fact that its just a Gamcube wiht a waggle taped to it. (which is what it is) and 85% of the games it gets are shovelware crap.

while its true alot of people own wiis and PS2s with the bad graphics, its ignorant to say no ones cares, thats not true at all. No one looks at a wii and 360 and goes, "hm, i dont care about graphics, im gonna get the wii!" talk about a fanboy statement. The wii is considerably cheaper and appeals to a different, larger group (grandparents, adults, young children; as apposed to the teen/young adult group that most console appeal to).

All it proves is that gameplay and graphics are of equal value, and people want a good looking game to compliment the exciting game play, they want the visual satisfaction when they do that move or w/e.

And yes, the wii is more successful in sales, as everyone has said since like, the first month the wii came out. But it doesnt mean it is the more succesful console overall.

while its true alot of people own wiis and PS2s with the bad graphics, its ignorant to say no ones cares, thats not true at all.

But it doesnt mean it is the more succesful console overall.

are you trying to imply that ps3/360 have bad gameplay?

and where did i hint to that even a little bit?

Most people dont care about graphics now, which is why the Wii is outselling the PS3/360, just like most people wont care about graphics in 5 years, which is why the Wii will still be selling better then.

Products that last are ones that are successful, and the Wii is more successful than 360 and PS3 and then some.

This is reality. Take your graphic whore fanboy goggles off and acknowledge it.

I personally dont think so. the wii bubble is eventually going to burst. People are going to get tired of the fact that its just a Gamcube wiht a waggle taped to it. (which is what it is) and 85% of the games it gets are shovelware crap. black_awpN1
There is no Wii bubble, that's just something you tell yourself to cope with the fact that it's selling more.

Most people dont care enough about graphics to warrant purchasing a 360/PS3 rather than a Wii, as sales clearly indicate.

Happy now?

really? are you sure that EVERYBODY that bought a ps3 was a gamer? NOBODY that bought a ps3 didnt get it just for blu-ray?

but anyway, no matter how much you hate it and scream into the night that its a fad, it will still sell and keep outselling your "hardcore" 360/ps3 systems

ogvampire

Sure. I bet 90% of Wii owners, children, parents, and grandparents don't even know what Blu Ray is.. Oh and you forgot the 360 in your argument, how do you explain that.

Wii will sell like hotcakes, thats great, great for nintendo. I still stand behind my belief that its a toy for EVERYONE, not a gaming system

Problem is Wii is a fad. When all the children parents and grandparents get tired of it in a couple of years, theres no way it will lastf50p90

The same applies to the PS3 and the 360, no? When all the hardcore gamers get tired of it in a couple of years, there's no way it will last. The PS3 is the most obvious fad of this generation.

they called the wii a gimmick and fad before it came out, yet here we are 1 1/2 years later and its still sold out at most places.

this "fad" is trouncing the ps3 and 360 in sales. fanboys always seem to be in denial about something

The way I see it, the Wii isn't a gaming system, it's a toy, a toy that appeals to ALL ages so of course it sells.

go to the ps3 board. people buy ps3's to game. very few people buy it just to watch blu-ray because stand alones are the same price.

yeah, dude. thats makes alot of sense. people that bought the ps3 for blu-rays movies will obviously go to VIDEOGAME forums and talk about ps3 games

i hope you realize that the vast majority of people on these videogame boards are hardcore gamers

how do i explain the 360? i cant cause we all know what a sales juggernaut it has been recently, huh?

regarding bolded statement: the wii is the ONLY true gaming system this gen. the others are trying to be all-in-one media centers

Not exactly, the ps3 is an upgraded ps2, which is an upgraded Ps1, the 360 is an upgraded xbox. The wii is what? A fad

Does it matter? It's selling still. You can't sit there and tell me the wii is a better gaming machine than the ps3 or 360. That'd be a joke. The Wii is a toy that everyone loves, and everyone will move on in a couple of years
