1. It's too soon. People just bought hdtv's

2. It's not necessary

3. The economy sucks. Why would anyone in their right mind buy a 3d tv?

4. It's an add on and another lame attempt at one which is really expensive.

5. There is no support at launch

What are these companies thinking? Another huge loss.

And that is a massive failure because the trend is already in full effect and we haven't seen any indication of its success right?

1. You need expensive glasses and an expensive TV for the effect.

2. It's more of a distraction than an enhancement.

Im starting to change my mind about 3D actually, its pretty cool if you test it and see it for yourself, i watched a few movies in 3D so far and each time make me more happy about watching them on 3D, i wont change to a 3D TV anytime soon tho, remember its optional

That's the thing though. It's cool to look out. wow. I'm not saying it isn't. Will anyone buy it? It's not necessary. didn't people try this 30 years ago. It failed then. People don't care about 3d. why would it succeed now especially considering how the economy is. It's one of those fad things that people don't need. Yay I saw jaws in 3d. It was great. woot. I'm not buying it.

It's not something that people are willing to bet their wallets on.

In a year maybe two it might be standdard for every new HD TV to support 3D and for a reasonable price. Shouldn't we atleast wait a year before judging whether or not 3D has failed.

1. It's too soon. People just bought hdtv's This may be true. But new technology needs to start some place, and starting now is a good thing.

2. It's not necessaryagain YOU are CORRECT, but for some it will be great for them for others it will be meaningless

3. The economy sucks. Why would anyone in their right mind buy a 3d tv? Why do people buy many things... this is just another uncessery item.

4. It's an add on and another lame attempt at one which is really expensive. IT is not an ADD ON, it is something that adds to the experience but not an add on.

5. There is no support at launch What does it matter. There will be a few games at the beginning and more later on.

What are these companies thinking? Another huge loss.

piercetruth34

It depends on how much they spend extra on making the game in 3D. cost vs revenue! IF it adds some and brings more to your game or thinking about your game then it is worth it. IF not then no sweat they will not make the game in 3D. why such anger over something you do not want??? No skin off your back, right?!

There is no requirement that you must play any game in 3D and all the games that use 3D can still be played with out it! so ... why are you even hating so much??

I think for PC gaming it's going to be awesome, there are already tons of games that work in 3d and the monitors are a lot cheaper than the HDTVS obviously, it might be too soon for consoles no doubt as there not really powerful enough until next gen anyway, but I think for PC gaming it's pretty awesome

None of that is particularly relevant.

The premium paid to add 3D to an HDTV is significantly LESS than the premium paid by early adopters of HDTVs. What this means is that a relatively small amount of manufacturing/sales will quickly drive down the cost curve for 3D TV...much faster than when HDTV first came out.

Because of this, the 3D portion will quickly become a modest premium over the cost of a similar regular HDTV. Once that happens, if you are in the market for an HDTV then many will pay a smallish premium for a 3D version. It is not like you are giving anything up, you are just gaining a feature.

There will be more than enough adopters. Many of those are going to be people who haven't bought any HDTV yet and will buy a 3D version with better overall tech for half the price of what I bought my last couple of HDTVs for a few years ago. Bank on it.

Some people don't even have HD, and with the digital switch-over, lots of people in the UK will have to buy new TV's or boxes.

30 years ago the 3d wasnt stereoscopic. anyways why is everyone making this into a big deal? seriously if you DONT LIKE 3D you dont have to get it. its OPTIONAL.

As far as entertainment goes anything the mainstream likes tends to be an epic fail to anyone with a creative brains (avid artists, musicians, even people who play video games like a sport). There are exceptions...

3d could work, but not now. Wait 10-20 more years.

Various industries have decided that the market wants 3D, so you're gonna get it whether you like it or not. What I don't like is that you need to wear those goofy glasses.

Unfortunately innovations like this aren't based on the budget of your average person.Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to be an *** but that's what builds the hype for when it becomes commom place , just like hdtvs.Just like certain features in more expensive cars that slowly start appearing in the cheaper ones. That's how it goes , they're not a company that rely on a single economic class.

The problem with 3DTVs is precisely that it's not optional. Sure, you can change to 2D mode, but if you're watching 3D, everyone needs to put glasses and watch 3D. If you have family/friends over and not enough glasses someone will be left out.

Everything in your house started off as some incredibly expensive product. Microwaves, refrigerators, televisions, COLOR televisions, HDTV's, and DVD players. I paid 200 bucks for my first DVD player and thirty bucks for a featureless movie.

so i tried the 3d tv last weekend and while it's kinda cool it looked nothing like real world 3d. it was more like looking at the movie which had different objects displayed on a few different glass planes. so that you had the effect of stuff being in front of something else but the object itself still looked flat. for anyone that was into comics in the 90's this looks like the Valiant Vision stuff from those comics.

My complaint is that it still doesnt really even work that well. I mean yeah it is 3D but with all this money you have to spend and all this technology we have now I want it to jump out of my tv and punch me and the face and it doesnt even come close to doing that

3d tv will be awesome. it is only too early for those who are not early adopters. just 4 years ago yhou were one of those who said that bluray would fail. just 7 years ago many said that dd would not work now look at arcade and psn games not to mention netflix. 3d will catch on faster than hdtv. in just three years when the new box and wii come out and penetration is deeper you will realize that 3d is not a fad but it is here to stay like hdtv and bluray.

Every new tech has it's distractors. Heck, some people are still against telephones.

dont get me started on telephones! If I want to communicate with someone in the next shire I shall send a letter!
