Don't really care about multiplayer unless it's offline. Can't wait for this game regardless.

The hell with the other modes, this is where I'll be spending my time outside of single player. Based on what I have seen of ARMA II, this looks like a similar experience, only in the wild west. Even if you are not playing with a 'gang' or group, it will be fun to lone wolf across the whole map trying to ambush others. This is simply fantastic.
Hilarious, though to be fair, I think GT5 looks amazing as well. Enjoying the best of both worlds doesn't hurt to be honest. Ahh was already looking forward to the game but now i cant wait! I loved GTA4's open world lobby, me and a group of friends played in that more then the actual multiplayer, but it never felt right because there were never police or any kind of structure to it. I love the passe feature, the random bandits, bandit towns, hunting, oh man i cant wait. Its about time there is a good western game, its such a underused setting.
ya i traded my ps3 for my friends 360. no regrets so far.:o What about God of War III, The Last Guardian, ModNation Racers and all the other things you'll miss out on?well if you can remember my very popular "Single player only games should die" thread, then you would know that im not the biggest fan of single player only games. which the ps3's main games are about lol:P[QUOTE="Revolution316"]

As of right now, this is my personal GotY.
It's MASSIVE. This online is iceing on the cake.

You are an ARMA II player, would you say that this free roam mode looks similar in terms of a massive open world to play online with? From what I have seen, it sort of gives me that impression, but in the wild west of course.

The details were very vague though, it looked very dynamic, but I can't imagine how it would work WITHOUT being MMO with servers.Wow, I just watched the video and it looks awesome. It seems like it's a MMO (of course not AS big) without the montly price.

You could turn off auto-aim in GTA IV, hopefully it's the same here. I noticed but didn't say anything because of that.I find it wierd I'm the only person who cares that the game aims for you.

man the R* marketing team must havecame intheir pants when they saw that video, it almost had me sold. My only concerns is that it is the largest game map R* has tried to do and im wondering if it will be mostly empty crap (FC2 comes to mind). That being said the 16 player free roam looks incredible, i can see myself ditching the story to play that nonstop.

However, seeing as this "free roam" acts as a lobby I don't know if auto aim can be turned off, nothing has been explained in detail. Hell no, the more room you have to explore and play in the better. Sure as hell beats short matches in confined maps. I would rather have a massive world with complete freedom to play mutliplayer in any day.
I cannot wait to get on my horse, trudge across the plains and Mesas, while scouting out ambush points and places to snipe unsuspecting groups of players from. Imagine the hours you can spend just doing something like this. Of course, that is just the tip of the iceberg from the looks of things.

Im not saying make it comfined, i actually do think open world is way better than linear crap levels, what im wondering is if there will actually be anything to do in the open world. Take FC2 for example, open world just the same, you go from towns and explore out in the african savannah, but there is never anything to do, add that with annoying respawning outposts and you have an extremely boring game. i want to know if the space will be filled with things to do.But then they would need to use servers, no? Damn, I wish they would have explained more how it works.SaltyMeatballsits not like an MMO as other would have you believe, read the multiplayer hands on. there can be up to 16 players in 1 free roam game at a time, and form that 16 you can make posse's of up to 8. but during the game the 16 players can explore the whole game. so take GTA4 free roam and put it in a western setting and BAM you have RDR

everybody is located on the mini map like gta:(.....so much for hiding in a cave for me lolOh, seriously? Still looks brilliant anyway. I was so hoping to have a mode where it was a free for all across the entire map, kind of like what I have seen in ARMA II. But, with fewer players and in the wild west, obviously.
[QUOTE="Jared2720"][QUOTE="Animal-Mother"]What's nonsensical about it, exactly? It's a game made by Rockstar, one of the very best development companies in the industry. To say that the game has a great shot at winning GOTY awards is very realistic. It's something fresh. The old west setting is grossly under-utilized in video games. It's about time somebody tried to do it justice. This game will be huge. Quote me on it. It doesn't matter if they have a pedigree or not, AM is right, this "GOTY!" attached to every single game, what, 9 months from GOTY time, is getting really, really tiresome. Apparently everything with a budget is GOTY!I agree. It seems like every game that is shaping up to be pretty good is getting called GOTY. I can care less about that crap. As long as the games are good I'll be playing them. This GOTY nonsense is getting redudant.
You know how many people say thta.
Then look at Demons souls.
BAM
