Resident Evil 7: Biohazard hype thread cause hey, it's a January AAA! GS Review gives it a 8/10!

I love the Resident Evil Franchise, it's no wonder why I'm hype for the new one thanks to Capcom for taking this franchise to a new level and going for that suspense horror then the tradition RE game we all love for. Just clear things up, Resident Evil 7 is said to take around 15 hours to complete for the average player depending on your play-style. 15 hours doesn't sound all that bad, worth paying $60, oh and speaking of which.

Resident Evil 7 Deluxe Edition: $90 it comes: Sold only at GameStop, (yeah I know, fucking hate Gamestop) the physical Deluxe Edition includes the base game and access to all upcoming season pass content upon release and a tiny picture below you.

Here's my final verdict and what I have played from the demo on both PS4 & PC: The first person viewpoint is perhaps the most radical departure, as Resident Evil has been a third-person "action" game since its inception. This style of play punctuates interaction, while also significantly increasing tension. I found myself having to come face-to-face with the things I feared most rather than tilting a third-person camera in their direction. Objects and characters are no longer distanced from the senses, they are within arm's length and seemingly tangible and for the most parts, I love it!

I'll go with a 8/10!

Bonus hype: RE7 isn't the only thing releasing January 24th, we also have yet another Resident Evil releasing that week and that's Resident Evil: The Final Chapter movie as it marks the final RE movie and it's still the longest video game adaption in video game history to maintain such a successful franchise and I been enjoying all the RE movies just for guilty pleasure to that.

I honestly have no clue what to expect from this game. The shift in game direction and the marketing up to this point have me lost, partially because I haven't kept up with what they have shown.

I'm guessing it will be praised for its shift away from the crap RE6 was in favor of more horror, but that it has a couple new problems. Possibly hit with the criticism that it doesn't feel like Resident Evil (I have no clue if this is a thing people will complain about.)

Hype Level: 7/10. I want to say 8, but that's boring. :P

I'm hyping it 9/10. I played the PSVR demo and it actually scared me. First time I've been scared by a videogame in more than a decade.

The movie also looks like some fun. I too enjoy the RE movies for what they are.

The movie will be better than the game:D

I feel the same way. I am looking forward to playing it but for some reason, it seems like something is missing. I loved 3 and 4 and the earlier ones before those but 5 I didn't play and 6 was garbage to me LOL. I am interested in 7 but I can't put my finger on it but it's just like it's missing something to put my hype level way up there.

Maybe it's the whole VR integration or something but something is missing LOL.

Can't get hyped for this one even though I love the RE series. This just feels like they made a big budget Outlast sequel than a true RE game. More hyped for KH 2.8 and Yakuza 0.

My hype for this is at a 9 cause i'm pretty excited for an actual game in vr, but I can see it realistically getting a 8 here

7/10. I think the game will be good, but the lack of variety in the environments will be what holds it back. I can see it becoming stale once the initial atmosphere wears off.

Cool, hyped for it as well, and outside of the fact that it is called RE7 and has an fps view, I know absolutely nothing about the game and that is how I would like to keep it, so I did not read the OP, forgive me.

The scores I really don't know, honestly like I have no clue, I suspect it will be a fun game as I have enjoyed every RE game before, and this one seems like they really need it to do well so I'm hoping it turns out very good. Hopefully the focus is more on survival horror than action basically, and I should be happy if the gameplay is solid.

Played the demo and its pretty good. its first time resident evil feel like horror game.

I will. I'll post my impressions when I get it. So far I'm enjoying the demo for it in VR, the atmosphere is insane.

I can imagine! Horror games are a great opportunity for virtual reality.

The VR experience is indeed worth since RE7 is supporting VR mode exclusive, and will later hit for the rest of VR devices. Since I don't own any VR atm, playing this in my Monitor will do for me cause I do enjoy playing horror games on a monitor due to being up close and games like Dead Space and Alien: Isolation scared the shit out of me.

Woot woot!! Now if I only knew what Banned Footage is... But I been a fan of the series since ps1 and look forward to every main RE game. Although this looks drastically different than what I would expect, still will day1 it.

I love RE but I am expecting an 8/10 game at best as it's all set in a restricted space, bit of a copout IMO. I will buy it day one because I obey rules and the unspoken rule says any RE game is day one always. Lots of trailers that admittedly don't tell you much but OP ignored them, not much of a 'hype' thread to be fair.

It's not an RE game but I enjoyed the demo, so I pre-ordered. I am guessing a 7/10, since it's not a Sony exclusive.

The demo for this in VR is incredibly intense. It really could be something very special/ I'm not sure how well it will translate to a standard 2D screen, however and may garner accusation of being derivative. But all in all, I think it's a return to the original idea for the series only without the sacrifices that had to be made for the technology at the time.

Have you tried vorpX? It seems like they're doing a good job bringing VR support to games, I don't have any personal experience with it though. But it might be an option...

Found a video about it, so I will try my Vive with the RE7 demo and see how it works.

Even if you don't like the game, you have to admit that actual single player story DLC is a step in the right direction; rather than all of the crap multiplayer DLC they released for the previous games.

I'm predicting a 9/10 from Gamespot. And a 91 MC. For you naysayers, play the demo..... One of the best experiences I had this gen. The atmosphere, the first person perspective, the creep factor, the scares, the level design, it was all second to none. It is nothing like Outlast or Amnesia. There's combat.

I think it'll get an 8/10.

It's 30 bucks on CDkeys if anyone is interested.

I'll wait for the reviews though. Capcom has let me down a lot.

I absolutely loved that demo. This joint has a serious chance of standing next to what I consider the best of the series (2,4, and ReMake).

Thats what i like about this game is. its not typical boring walking simulator like amnesia/soma etc. its what i call horror game. i consider it best in series even more so than resi 1 and 2 too. but i didnot even get scared of this game too. i was playing demo at 3 am and light turn off.

resi 4 was incredibly overrated. mediocre action shooter with one of the worst controlling ever and bad shooting mechanic.

It doesn't feel like a Resident Evil, but i'm quite intrigued by it; I'll go with an 8/10 if it is reviewed without VR and 9/10 with it.

After that debacle Resident Evil 6, I'm a little hesitant with this one.

I do hope it turns out well, but I'm not holding my breath either.

My copy has been sent yesterday. I don't see this game scoring that high, but if it's a decent VR game it's enough for me.
