Whats got me most excited though is the map randomization. That is going to make the game SO MUCH more fun. No more spawn camping, no more memorizing the maps to "own". It adds a whole new element to the game, and thus, winning is based on skill, not knowledge of the maps. And also it might help with bugs in the maps (like in RFOM).

The online aspect seems pretty damn fleshed out, and I can't wait to give it a whirl. But the coop, and local split screen is what has me worried. Are we going to be tied down to one-on-one local vs.? cause that sucks. I hope before they release the game, they have 4 player split screen online. Not necessarily in coop, but particularly in vs mode. So you can have a squad of 4 people right on your PS3, rather than having to rely on random people to do their jobs.

I'd like to know how Insomniac will achieve the feat. Given the PS3 doesn't have all that much memory compared to a PC, how will it all fit? And you can't "stream-load" in a multiplayer scenario.

Am I the only person who doesnt like multiplayer when numbers get that large?

I stop being able to keep track of everybody and end up just dieing a lot. Less battling and more just being in the right place at the right time.

I just read 11 the right way. Sounds like it will be HEAVILY objective based. Which makes me even MORE excited! I hate deathmatches. It's sounding like a lot of fun! WOOOOWEEEEEEEEEEE! I just need to see some screenshots before I go completely ga-ga for this game.

RAM has nothing to do with it... and what do you know about stream loading??? It's a new technique... exactly how do you know its limitations? Let's leave the technical stuff to the devs and quit pretending we know more about their game than they do shall we.

I can take those "average" ps3 owners as you call them in UT3 and turn them into effective squads in warfare and ctf modes to win everytime. The fact you believe that the ps3 online community is the same as the x360 community in terms of online is pretty funny cause over 80% of the people I meet online are adults not little trash talkers like ravage live.

Also the online for the first resistance is always active with people so I doubt the online will flop.

Then you should read the entire post... this is 60 person squad based online, w/ squads of 4-8 players... squads have different objectives to contribute to the overall battle being waged. NO game is currently doing anything like that. It's awesome... it'sthe closest thing toREAL warefare that any game has ever brought us.

no i agree once there are too many people playing the game becomes to chaotic, you lose all sense of teamwork and strategy. I think people need to stop hyping games just because they have a large number of players

yeah and battlefeild was very war like right? 18 players is perfect you have more focus on teamwork and small specialized units working with each other also an easier time to communicate with each other. WIth 60 players imagine allthose people shouting a million things at once.

its not like that.. in the first resistance when you go into a squad , those are the only people you can hear.. so say if there are 5 squads you will only hear 5 people in one squad when your in it. makes me hope the maps are MASSIVE with vehicles.. that way squads can split up and capture different objectives. I also hope they have one map that is small so it can be totally EPIC with 60 players in it.. haha

You will get use to it. You just got to adjust and adapt. That is how online gaming is like. Everyone is different and people think differently.

I recall playing Planetside on PC. I jumped in.. and there was an ongoing battle for a bridge. There were other bridges around. But this one bridge was a strategic location. We were at the frontlines to the enemy main bases. We want to drive out battalion of tanks and jeep up to their bases over this bridge. We fought back and forth for more than an hour. With infantry, artillery, aerial, and even amphibious assault. We fought to a stalmate but that battle was truely epic.

They have to make some bosses that require 6-8 players in coop to beat. Or made the difficult of the bosses scale up if you are in coop mode. and depending on how many in coop too.

You should delete those, they are magazine scans, and can get you banned.

Anyway, Yeah, this game is definitely going to be AAA if they can keep these promises they are making. Lets hope the game looks that good in game also.

is the local 2 players just for co-op or for vs too?

The 2 player splitscreen was referring to the offline co-op. Nothing is known about offline vs but I'm going to assume that it's going to be 4 player just like the last one.

If the MPmaps are set up well...it would be crazy fun...large enough and random spawn points to helpkeep the spawn campers at bay..but a few choke points to keep the heat up.. then a few ways to get around the choke points...

Maybe a mode/gameplay type that if you stay in one spot for more than 10/15 seconds you die....

that would be really fun...

It'll hold up just fine. Look at Resistance 1 - same graphics online as the campaign and the framerate never dropped, even with 40 people online. Resistance 2 will be beautiful.

Why does everyone act skeptical about 60 people online? People were the same way about RFOM's 40 man online, and it turned out seamless. Lag-free. I'm sure Insomniac has learned a lot more about the PS3 since RFOM. As time goes on, they learn more and more about coding for the PS3, and as such, are able to produce better, and better games, with better graphics, gameplay, and online. I hate how people STILL underestimate the PS3 and act like the games at launch were setting the bar, and anything with better graphics than that MUST suffer elsewhere.

And as far as "full potential", there is no way this is the PS3's full potential. Thats like saying Gears of War, or Halo 3 was the 360's full potential. Games will only get bigger and better as developers learn how to better optimize, and code for the systems.

I wouldn't be surprised if in 2 years, we will see 100 players online, with graphics even better than R2/KZ2. I'm talking graphics that come as close as a current-gen console can get to rivaling Crysis. (which IMO is extremely close, I'm sure. but thats not to say consoles could handle Crysis, cause it's more than just graphics.)

So yeah. You're theory of "almost near full potential" is most likely wrong. But I can see how you could think that. This game looks/sounds amazing! can't wait to see an official trailer, and some gameplay! :D

That sounds pretty good on paper..but in the game i think it might be asking to much..i mean hell..in COD 4 it is a task just for people to play domination right..

Don't get me wrong i am all for the idea...but i think it would be really frustrating if you do your part and the "other" guys are falling short

Why does everyone act skeptical about 60 people online? People were the same way about RFOM's 40 man online, and it turned out seamless. Lag-free. I'm sure Insomniac has learned a lot more about the PS3 since RFOM. As time goes on, they learn more and more about coding for the PS3, and as such, are able to produce better, and better games, with better graphics, gameplay, and online. I hate how people STILL underestimate the PS3 and act like the games at launch were setting the bar, and anything with better graphics than that MUST suffer elsewhere.

And as far as "full potential", there is no way this is the PS3's full potential. Thats like saying Gears of War, or Halo 3 was the 360's full potential. Games will only get bigger and better as developers learn how to better optimize, and code for the systems.

I wouldn't be surprised if in 2 years, we will see 100 players online, with graphics even better than R2/KZ2. I'm talking graphics that come as close as a current-gen console can get to rivaling Crysis. (which IMO is extremely close, I'm sure. but thats not to say consoles could handle Crysis, cause it's more than just graphics.)

So yeah. You're theory of "almost near full potential" is most likely wrong. But I can see how you could think that. This game looks/sounds amazing! can't wait to see an official trailer, and some gameplay! :D

I didn't say PS3's full potential, I said their engines full potential. Only an idiot would sayPS3 isalmost completely maxed. And I'm not worried about performance for online game, just whethervisuals will be up to the same quality as the single player.

I read the news and I was like.. "Woah"

I saw the pictures and I looked at COD4 and I ":lol:'d". In-somniac we trust. God I can't wait for this, the pictures were mindblowing. This info is even better, ****ing 8 player co-op. Gawd.

Everybody is tasked objectives in the main lobby, which keeps the game from dissolving into chaos.

That sounds pretty good on paper..but in the game i think it might be asking to much..i mean hell..in COD 4 it is a task just for people to play domination right..

Don't get me wrong i am all for the idea...but i think it would be really frustrating if you do your part and the "other" guys are falling short



Thus reinforcing my statement on how they really should allow 4 player split screen online. So even if you're in an 8 person squad, at least 4 of you are going to work together, and that could easily become a force to be reckoned with, with two heavies, a sniper, and a medic. It sounds very different then the first one. Almost like how battlefield is with the different ****s. But there are still so many questions that I just can't wait to find out!

For instance, What will the different ****s look like? Will medics resemble menials, where as heavies will look like buffed up hybrids? I didn't read that there would be vehicles online, but if the maps are big enough, I would imagine vehicles would be feasible.

I really just desire more info on this game. They have given us enough to get us all extremely interested. But then again, I guess I won't be totaly satisfied untill i'm actually playing it :D
