They pay for everything huh? Oh really? I guess htatonly applies when you're within the warrantty. My 360 died 1 month after the warranty expired. One. *******. Month and now I have to fork over $140 to have the damn thing fixed.
Nice way to treat your loyal cutsomers MS.
the hardware is unreliable, but the games are so good.El_Fanboy

Dude I know! It's so hard to make athe decision of going with it or leaving ti for another console. So many good games, but I feel sorry for the epople who's Xbox 360 crapped out right after thier warranty expired.Â
No red lights of death, but more like Faulty DVD drive of doom. Cant even read a brand new game, gotta send it to MS for repairs, but at least they pay for everything, even shipping. Yeah this sucks, Xbox 360 hardware is crappy but what choice do I really have when it's the only console with good online service and gets good games every month.Kayrod29
DVD drive gave up the ghost? yea, it happens. my laptop DVD drive died recently. such is life with optical drives.Â
Mine lasted about 5 months or so and died in the month were I was the best I've ever been in Halo 2. Do you have any idea how long I've been trying to become the 1337 sniper I once was?

hey, I guess that's what happens with crappy hardware.  My 360 is from Nov. of '05 and I've never had a hint of issue. Not one.
I will laugh so hard if the Elite has the same problems as the original 360:lol:miss_kitt3n
well it's the same hardware. :| so why wouldn't it potentially face the same problems? the 65nm-based 360's that come out in the fall will be much less likely to have any problems, but a failed optical drive can happen regardless.
Mine died twice. And my buddy's has also died. Worst hardware of any console i've ever known. But the best games of any machine i've ever owned. It is indeed a tough decision. At least it's repaired for free.Ninja-Vox
if it's getting fixed for free, that's all that matters. I wonder why they can't get the refurb job done right, thought?

Lord knows. I have exactly the same issue both times, too.Â

Doesn't the Elite come with a fan build into it?Â
PS2 hardware was the worst last generation and i'm pretty sure nobody really cared.Shazenab

Except I remember seeing plenty of "arguments" coming from Xbots saying that the reason why PS2 sold so many last gen was because of them breaking down and people going out and buying new ones. >_>Â

Because rather than replace the faulty parts, they do a repair job on it and hope the console works, which reduces the cost to them. This is also the reason why so many 360s that are supposedly repaired break down again once they reach customers. So what this leads to is the same batch of 360s being sent back and forth between customers and the company until the warranty runs out. Just think about this: $400 + $170 to repair = $570. Almost the same price as a PS3 for shoddy hardware. Even with the great games that they have, it's not worth the risk of buying a 360.That is a real short amount of time for a DVD drive to break.

the fact is dvd drives are designed to constantly read like console make them do. it has always been a issue since console have used optical drives. they last for year on pcs but consoles kill them really fast.
this is another reson why pc>consoles. if a bit breaks you just take it back to the shop and they replace it but with consoles you have to send the whole thing away and wait 2+weeks for them to send it back
My 360 froze fot the 5th time yesterday and ive had it under 1month its in a well wentilated place :(
I hope it will last, but im thinking that ill trade it for a ps3.Â
it real funny how i have had mine since launch with no problems what so ever...
yet you come on this forum and every one on here as had 3 or more crap out on them..
hold on a miniute i smell bull s**t, and thats what 99.9% of the idiots talk on this forum because there so loyal to there console of choice....
You have other choices, but truck it out if you're happy with shoddy hardware.KeyWii
Millions of people, including myself, did that with the ps2.
People are willing to cooperate with bad hardware every once in awhile to get a system with good games.
[QUOTE="xxThyLordxx"]damn, X360 hardware is really crappy. PS3 is a lot better. by the way, sorry about that.Kayrod29
Â
Yeah but the games on PS3 suck compared to great games like Crackdown and Gears of War on Xbox 360. Plus the PS3 cost $200 more.
Self-owned? TC posting things that have nothing to do with this topic? What a way to go.Â
360 has good games but it really is the worst hardware ever made for problems. I turned on my 360 yesterday and was greeted with three red lights of death. I thought oh well that's it *******. I tried it again, same thing. Then I took the hard drive off and it worked?. So then I put the hard drive back on again and it worked.
Sheesh what a piece of crap, seriously. It's like any minute the thing can just pack up and die on you.

If you think 360 is a well built machine you're living in cloud cuckoo land. People's 360's are dropping like flies.
Here is an easy way to fix your drive issue. Use a vacuum on it when the drive is open. Simple. You have a 50/50 chance of successes.
I already called MS up about a disc drive clearer... They told me not to use one, because it will damage the drive.

What I find real funny is that you don't believe that some customers are having problems. Some consumers who have had problems with their Xbox post here and you are skeptical. Yet MS has increased their warranty, and they now pay for shipping.  Also, they have acknowledged that the Xbox 360 has quality issues. This is fairly strong evidence that the Xbox 360 QC is marginal at best, don't you think?
