IF tsony makes a faulty product you are GLAD tyo broke down. YOu are happy to be screwed cause its sony, they care about their customers. If a microsoft product breaks down you're pissed cause microsoft does not care baout their custoemrs they're only in it to make money. Unlike sony whos in this buisiness for the art of making games & to make people happy. :)

 If that's true then why did Sony wait until after they were on the verge of losing a class action lawsuit to even address the problems on the PS2?

Mine is terminal, it's not completly gone yet, but it won't be long, I'm hoping my 3rd one will be healthy enough to make it past 1 year.

Some people forget that nothing is perfect; especially with electroincs.

It took Sony 2 gens to get it right. They were, and still are the kings of faulty hardware. I doubt the 360 will ever reach the numbers of faulty units that Sony has with the PSOne, and PS2.

Still, everyone stuck it out with Sony, because they has the best games. The 360 should be no different. Sure, the 360 has had it's share of problems, but hey have the best games now; with many more exclusives being taken from Sony every month.

Cows have no room whatsoever to bash the 360's hardware problems.

For some odd reason, I don't believe you...I doubt anyone else will.

My 360's out for repairs right now.  But it's completely free.  MS sent me the pre-paid shipping label and shipping box + packing material.

It sucks that I have to actually use the warranty (the 360 is the first piece of electronics that I ever had to send in for warranty work), but MS's liberal warranty policy really helps take the edge off. 

This is just a guess, but I think many of the overheating issues with the 360 is too many people had them enclosed in an enertainment center.

That's where I originally had mine, until I reached my hand in there one day, after playng for a couple of hours and it was like an oven in there. After that I set it on top of my entertainment center, and the unit never got hot again. I've never had one single problem with it.

People, myself included, should read the instructions more...

YEAH, MS needs to get their STUPID act together. They make the crappiest hardware, honestly.  I've gone throught six xbox360's in 5 months! And everytime I shipped it, it took MS 4 months to get a brand-new refurbished unit to my door, which would crap out on me in a matter of days, MAYBE weeks.

BUT REALLY, I still have a LAUNCH 360 that's going strong, and it hardly gives me problems. I play it JUST ABOUT EVERY EVENING for an hour, and sometimes many hours at a time. I'm not saying the 360 is perfect. I definitely believe there are more 360-related hardware problems than Wii, or PS3 problems. But I don't beleive half of the people on this board that say they've gone through 3 to 4 consoles in a year or so. This board would have you believe that the 360 has a failure rate of 90% or something.

I bet a good portion of the problems comes from the ignorance and missuse of the customer, rather than just faulty or naturally-overheating hardware.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR 360'S, PEOPLE. Don't keep them on carpet, or fabric of any kind. Don't keep them in a single-open-sided "box" like found on some entertainment stands.(Especially cramped ones) Dont put the power brick RIGHT next to it, or on it. Don't keep any other objects that heat up decently really close to it. DO NOT change your 360's position, or even MOVE IT AT ALL, while it's ON. Your disc WILL GET SCRATCHED.              And these are just the obvious things... if you've been guilty of any of these, sorry, but you're probably not intelligent or responsible enough to own something that cost $400.

What's odd is I bought Viva Pinata for my wife, and when I put it in the 360, it was spinning the disc at an abnormally fast rate...I could hear it spinning (like a loud buzz), and the console was vibrating to the touch. On a hunch I took it back, and exchanged it for a different copy. When I got back home, I put the new disc in, and it ran perfect. It spun normallly, no buzzing, or vibrating. Samething happened with Smackdown Vs. RAW 2007.

I wonder if it has something to do with faulty discs more than the hardware...

 Only disk errors..and yes mine is still workin till this day..  The 360 is more faulty everythin about that system goes wrong..lol..Scratches disks, playing a game will crash the system, updating your firmware will crash it,disk read errors, over heating, freezing and etc..i dont think this system is build to play next gen games at all..if the problems still exist through out this year and next..we all know is the 360 problems.

At least they pay for it all... unlike the PS2 DRE's... I hated that...foxhound_fox

If you want a taste of reality, the failure rate of xbox360 is 6%. The average failure rate of any console is 3%. So, yes, it's unfortunately high, but it's not the insane problematic hardware that people on this forum would lead you to believe.

So, for everyone out there who has had TWO faulty 360's, (let alone MORE) that means you are not only one of the most unlucky people on the planet, but you're also letting a company take advantage of you, as they'd clearly owe you something pretty nice(really nice) for your inconveniences.

At least you get yours payed for, I have a launch console that broke just a week ago and now im forced yo pay $168 for repairs. All I can say is that is complete BS! Sheesh, thats terrible. I am glad I am getting a PS3, no real hardware problems. You should have got extended warranty when purchasing it, although apparently Microsoft has extended the original warranty on 360's as of a few weeks ago.
