They're not. You can install games to the HD on the 360, if you like.

You still have to have the disc in the tray though, right? But you can also download full games from PSN and XBL anyway...Hey of course it shouldn't bother anyone , then again a lot of things discussed here in SW shouldn't and probably doesn't bother anyone , our jobs here is to keep rubbing that in others face to avenge the last small thing rubbed in ours , pretty silly. :P

Indeed - it simply reads the disc to ensure you have a legit copy in there, then reads the info from the harddrive. Runs faster, quieter - pretty good.Funny how the Lems are trying to derail the thread by talking about PSN being down? PSN will be back online soon enough and will still be free. 360 will be straddled with a DVD player now and forever.
Or for those of us who have both, neither are massive issues...Funny how the Lems are trying to derail the thread by talking about PSN being down? PSN will be back online soon enough and will still be free. 360 will be straddled with a DVD player now and forever.

I have both and I still think it's an issue. I don't even want to rent the 360 version.
Changing discs? But that will increase the chances of me injuring myself while getting up to change it. Also peeling myself out of my chair once every ten hours might give me heart attack or something. Yup I can definately see lawsuits resulting from this...

Then get the PS3 version, if a minor issue like changing a disc every 15 hours is too much work.Well see, that's a lie. Switching discs is a hassle in itself. It's an incredibly small hassle, but a hassle nonetheless.SuperNecroJust like a 10 GB mandatory install I suppose. ;) The irony is that PS3 owners will end up sitting and waiting more than the 360 users.
Damn it. But I don't want to ever get off my couch, even to change games. :[Stevo_the_gamer
You might want to stock up on these as well.
:P
Lemmings enjoy disc swapping, what else can I say?
Oh yeah, they also like getting less content.
Solquid_Snake
Assuming you are a PS3 fanboy: While we are enjoying our disc swapping at that time you should enjoy your free online experience now.....oh my bad. And while we are enjoying are supposed less content, enjoy the inferior version of the game.....worse textures and possibly no grass. We all know 95% of the time the PS3 gets the worst version but thats due to dev laziness right?.....So when is Sony going to be able to take any credit for its systems draw backs, its always some one elses fault which most fanboys of sony seem to be the same way.
I will never understand why Microsoft didn't use the PC gaming approach for those opting to install a multi-disc game--install from each disc once at the start, then play right through uninterrupted with only the first disc in the drive (no further swapping whatsoever). PC games have worked like this for well over a decade (no matter how many discs the game has) so I can't see why the 360 couldn't manage it.
[QUOTE="navyguy21"]Doesnt the PS3 version have a mandatory install? :|idill23I wanted to know this too.
Rumor has it yes around 5GB, but i haven't seen a confirmation from either rockstar or team bondi though. I'll be getting the version that looks/runs better either way.

derail? the only people who have a poblem with this are PS3 users
I wish they would just let us 360 users with massive hard drives install all 3 discs to the console. Problem solved. I have a 250gb hard drive, I should be able to use it.
Like others have said, it'd be nice if, on the X360, the installs worked like Forza 3. In FM3, you installed the content on Disc 2, installed Disc 1, and just used Disc 1 as the play disc at all times. I haven't seen Disc 2 since I installed it in 2009. Either way, disc swapping and people hating on disc swapping does not really bother me, a good game is a good game, so hopefullly L.A. Noire delivers, because I'm pretty interested in it.
You know what I say? I own a PS3, 360, Wii, DS, 3DS, PSP, and everything from last gen. And I can't remember a time that I left a single disc, cartridge, UMD, etc. in there for longer than the play time. Having said that, it isn't a problem to get up and change CD's I mean...I want to watch all 6 Star Wars movies but I have to get up all those times to change the discs to get the full story right? Guess I am watching it on my 360 right? Nah, I'm just doing something trivial. Hell it is good that they are getting people up and moving more.
I find it funny that people actually consider getting up off their butt every few hours to swap discs a "hassle". I guess using the bathroom and eating are a major burden to them as well. Heck why don't they just set up their TV so they can see it from their toilet and put a fridge in the bathroom while they're at it. God forbid anyone actually have to get up and move every once in awhile:| . It's really kinda sad.

I do find it rather weird so many people but mainly it seems the PS3 fans find it such a big deal to have to get up twice during a 30 hour game.I find it funny that people actually consider getting up off their butt every few hours to swap discs a "hassle". I wonder how long the mandatory install will be on the PS3.foxhound_foxHas it been confirmed that the PS3 will require a mandatory install?
Because we aren't in the year 2020 yet? Even now more and more retail games are becoming available for DD on consoles.ok if its not 1997, why are consoles still requiring discs in tray to play?

It isn't a major hassle, but it is a hassle. Damage control from Rockstar...but what do you expect? I'm sure they want to reach as many consumers as possible and for the game to sell on both the PS3 and 360. I wouldn't think they would come out and say, 'well it's a bit of a hassle since you have to swap discs mid game'. That would be bad marketing.
Apparently it's not so much that getting up to put a disc in a tray is too much work, but the amount of shame it brings is theoretically unbearable considering that you don't need to do it on another console. (I say theoretically, because most of the people saying it don't own a 360) Am I right here, or what?Karnage108
I own a 360, and I'm going to buy it on PS3.

I wouldn't imagine anyone is going to one sit it to the point where you need to swap discs. I tend to game in 20-30 minute intervals. In the event that I save my game 5 minutes before the disc swap, it would be slightly annoying to have to swap discs in that small period of time. Then again, it's not that big of a deal: I do it with my PS2 all the time. It's just a bit more inconvenient than sitting there on your butt.
If the Xbox 360 version will get the lower score because of disc swapping, then Mass Effect 2 Ps3 Version should be 9.5

>disc swapping
>hassle free
Does not compute.

How about ...
>Incredibly lazy
>Pampered
Because if getting up and switching discs 2 times during a 20hr+ game is too big of a hassle its the only conclusion i can come to.
God i'd hate to see some of you people back when TV remotes were a rarity, having to get up to switch channels, teh horror !!.
Really, so pausing the game and getting a drink or visiting the loo breaks immersion as well, stopping the game part way through and going out or off to work does but no one complains about it. But hey spend 10 secs swapping a disc and its the end of the world!!How can disc swapping NOT be a hassle. It totally breaks immersion which is what LA Noire is desperately trying to do. Im guessing lower ratings on the 360 versio for this reason

So that's a no. Bashing something you don't own. ;) Interesting.[QUOTE="DroidPhysX"][QUOTE="Solquid_Snake"]
Why should I when:
1. I get exclusive content.
2. I get exclusive games.
3. All of my games are on 1, scratch-resistant disc.
Solquid_Snake
Again, why should I own it when it offers nothing that I listed?
Really so it does not get exclusive games then??Please Log In to post.
