*Warning the source has Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Da Vinci's Dissapearance spoilers*

Source: http://n4g.com/news/725140/assassins-creed-iii-takes-place-in-the-usa

Sorry for the N4G link but Gamespot doesn't let me link to the original article because it's not written in English, N4G links it the article translated using Google Translator but Gamespot won't let me post that link. When I try to post the article it reverts back to its former language.

You get co ordinates at the end of AC: Brotherhood (43 39 18 75 27 N 42 W) and hear people talking about it. The person in the article put these co ordinates in Google Maps and finds that it's in the USA. Apparently the Assassin's Creed Wiki also talks about George Washington being crowned the president of America during the American Revolution and owning an Apple of Eden. The next Assassin's Creed taking place during the American Revolution would truly be interesting and since the Assassin's Creed games always have gaps in between each other, jumping from 15th century Rome to 18th century America makes sense. Your thoughts? Comments? Is this mere speculation? Or will it prove to be true?

I still think it's in French Revolution, the British guy practically gave it away at the end. Besides, 18th century America has less political drama and big cities compared to Revolutionary France, let alone Renaissance Italy. If it actually takes place in America, I don't think I will like the idea much.

Please Ubisoft not another "Assassins" Creed. ACI was one of the bestgames I ever played but thenyou made AC:II and especiallyAC:B which was so dissapointing. End this already beforeweforget about thegreatnessofACI, which is the only thing that saves the "Assassins" Creedseries from being know as some ofthe worst games this generation.

What's wrong with the engine?

It sucks that's what wrong with. Graphics are mediocre still it's full of framerate issues. And the gameplay is just so 'really? why is this called "assassins" creed? I thought I was suppose to assassinate people not making massacres with my army'.

Sorry to burst your bubble but they will never be known as the worst games of this generation. You may dislike the direction they took, but use common sense. The games are too popular and widely praised.

Assassins Creed is one of the best looking games this generation. If the game was linear I guarantee you it would have better graphics than any Uncharted or Gears of War game even future ones

No, he's just being realistic. The Colonial era United States was not known for it's vast cities and towering architecture.

Hmm...The graphics are fine for this gen. There are some framerate issues. And given the storyline of AC, the army was needed. But that's only if you payed attention to the story. Which I doubt you have, since only the 3rd game really had the army type thing.

Big cities in early America were really far apart and, depending on when it is set, the game will lack any famous architecture. Yeah, the buildings will be small but I don't know how the gameplay is going to hold up in more modern times. I can't see charging at somebody while they shoot you --- the hidden blade will be pretty useless unless they lean on stealth far more than before.

If it was set in America, you know you'd be working for the Free Masons. Or they'd be the Templars, one or the other.

Oy, oy. French revolution would make sense since it would follow the story at the end of AC:B. Having it America just because is not good judgement.

But back then guns weren't as accurate the barrels didn't have rifling to make the guns accurate.

That is why when they were fighting in battles they had many standing right next to each other for a greater chance of actually hitting there target.

The guns weren't made accurate until mid-late 19th Century.

really? Assassins creed is one of the prettiest and best running games this generation. I actually argue that at times it looks better than Uncharted, especially given its attention to scale and open worldness. This makes lots of sense, given Desmond appears to be American and we're telling the story of his ancestors. they had to make it to america at some point right? I actually am a Freemason so this will be very interesting for me to see what type of fun lore they try and dig up. I can already see the coblestone streets and old Boston/Philadelphia and DC being major landscapes... I love it.

Granted and yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but there is so much lore about how the architecture and bluprints of DC are Masonic in its very design... So I was thinking of the time frame where Boston and Phily are major players, Philly obviously being the Nations Capitol as it was and DC is in its early stages of being built thus being at the heart of story. EDIT!!! Just checked online and the Capitol building started its construction in 1778, so this could actually be the exact idea.

I wonder if the protagonist would still walk around wearing stark white clothes and carry dozens of brightly polished firearms unconcealed on his person.

"Sir, is that the guy we're looking for?"

"I'm not makng any snap decisions until I see him shoot somebody."

The knife would be for close encounters, I'm sure you'd have a gun for far away assassinations. The game would have to be much, much more stealthy though. You don't have people walking around with SMG's in the 18th century, and normally there aren't guards everywhere like before, only police. Heck, you could also be working for George Washington, you could also be trying to assassinate George Washington. It could also be an inside job where you work for him then assassinate him when the time is right, but set it up slowly and occasionally help the enemy in secrecy. There'd be the problem of standing out, at this time you had a lot of people wearing black clothes and more fancy clothing. Not white clothing with a hood, that'd give you away (that's always been kind of a design flaw in the Assassin's Creed games since no one else looks like you, you're quite obviously the assassin yet you can walk right past guards). It could work but there'd have to be a few changes to the normal Assassin's Creed formula, I remember some of the glyphs in Assassin's Creed 2 showing George Washington with an Apple of Eden along with many other founding fathers. There were lots of glyphs with people dressed in 1700s-1900s clothing, and I doubt they'd just make the game a hundred years later, so the likeliness of the game taking place at around the 18th or 19th century is high, and the clues concerning America make sense. I agree France would be more interesting though, wouldn't it be a little similar to Italy in culture, though? I got this from Wikipedia: "France, and in particular Paris, has played an important role as a center ofhigh cultureand of decorative arts since the seventeenth century" So it's a possibility, but I'd vouch for America.

I looked it up and if it took place in 1791 that is when D.C. was founded. So it can still sort've take place in D.C. But Philly and Boston would have to 2 of the cities in the game.

If they do it well then yes,but trust me they will just screw it up even more.

More variety no, just less assassiny and more slaughtering & massacres. You're right I hated Altairs accent but compared to Ezio's accent... Ezio sounds like an american trying to speak english with italian accent, real ugly, sounds like really sterotype italian accent, I laughed so much first time I heard it, thought it was a joke. And guess what Altairs actor=Arab, Ezio's actor=not Italian! Better characters? Not by a long shot, seriously some of the worst characters ever. Everyone Ezio, the borgias & the assassins.

I don't really like the idea of 18th Century America or France. I would still much prefer a jump back in time to the Mayan/Aztec times before they were hit by Spain. (Or right before)

I cant believe how short sighted people are about this... If they go to the french revolution it would be cool, sure, but early america is the stuff of fantasy and legend. its perfect. The boston tea party was organized by freemasons, the founding principals of the country are extremely masonic and written by masons and further, the very buildings in DC, the capitol and a slew of others are Masonic buildings. George Washington himself blessed the cornerstone of the capitol building and it bares the masonic mark. Id place the Assassins as the Freemasons and the Brits/French/europe as the opressors. God, I should call Ubi, I want to write this game.

[QUOTE="TheEroica"][QUOTE="Nintendo_Ownes7"]If they is late 18th Century DC would've of existed I don't think DC existed until early 19th Century.

Nintendo_Ownes7

Granted and yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but there is so much lore about how the architecture and bluprints of DC are Masonic in its very design... So I was thinking of the time frame where Boston and Phily are major players, Philly obviously being the Nations Capitol as it was and DC is in its early stages of being built thus being at the heart of story.

I looked it up and if it took place in 1791 that is when D.C. was founded. So it can still sort've take place in D.C. But Philly and Boston would have to 2 of the cities in the game.

Yup, I totaly agree... I dont know if you read my edit in our last exchange, but I found out the capitol building was started in 1778 so DC was well under construction by the turn of the century.

that would be cool, they better use a new engine thoughKevinButlerVP

Why? The games look great still.. A new engine is not needed... Though I am somewhat upset.. I could care elss about the 1700s within United States.. Compared to the Crusades era..

Drakan11

Sorry to burst your bubble but they will never be known as the worst games of this generation. You may dislike the direction they took, but use common sense. The games are too popular and widely praised.

Sorry, maybe not won't be known as the worst games of this generation but will still be some of the worst games of this generation

What's wrong with the engine?

It sucks that's what wrong with. Graphics are mediocre still it's full of framerate issues. And the gameplay is just so 'really? why is this called "assassins" creed? I thought I was suppose to assassinate people not making massacres with my army'.

Assassins Creed is one of the best looking games this generation. If the game was linear I guarantee you it would have better graphics than any Uncharted or Gears of War game even future ones

It wouldn't have the slightest chance. And it still looks like crap compared to games like RDR which doesn't have that much framerate issues at all, and it's non-linear too.

Hmm...The graphics are fine for this gen. There are some framerate issues. And given the storyline of AC, the army was needed. But that's only if you payed attention to the story. Which I doubt you have, since only the 3rd game really had the army type thing.

No it wasn't, and the storyline was crap so that doesn't justify it. And I loved ACI and thought ACII was pretty good too but even those games you all you did was just walk in, kill everyone, walk out & mission complete. It was a walk in the park taking on 20 tough armored guys solo. [QUOTE="Hatiko"]

oops, forget about what I said about everyone wearing black clothing. That'll benefit the game taking place in the 18th century since that wasn't yet the time when everyone wore fancy clothing, so it would be easier to blend in. I can easily imagine an America like this, I know Sherlock Holmes takes place a century later but for those of you who saw the movie (with Robert Downey Junior) and the scenery with the ships, it could be something of that sort.

Like that, now imagine one of those guys in the group of soldiers in the back being part an assassin. The white robes could be white and red allowing them to blend in with soldiers. Also as you can see they use swords and horses, so the formula wouldn't really have to change. This could transition into modern day Desmond being an assassin.

This is completely different though, that's modern america, this is 18th century america. There's a big difference in, well, everything. USA wasn't a country until 1776 and I can imagine the tension during the revolution, along with the building of DC being an important asset (or having something to do with Ubisoft's Sci-Fi conspiracies) for the Apple. Like some greater truth being held behind the revolution, and DC needing to be the temporaryresting home of the Apple.

Ah now I remember you. You hate AC:B even though it's arguably the best game in the series. Storyline isn't crap. You have to realize you're in the minority in thinking that AC:B is a bad game and I think you do. You just want to put your different opinion out there so others will challenge it. In other words, you're trolling.

The Roman Republic before Christ would be a great setting as well... Could make it out tha Ceaser was killed by a Assassin in the garb of the senate for that incident.

[QUOTE="funsohng"]I still think it's in French Revolution, the British guy practically gave it away at the end. Besides, 18th century America has less political drama and big cities compared to Revolutionary France, let alone Renaissance Italy. If it actually takes place in America, I don't think I will like the idea much.Pray_to_me

You just gonna hate cuz it's n America? The games have been set in Europe long enough this will be a nice change.

Yeah no.
