Rumor: Gearbox developing Halo 4 as launch title for next Xbox

I have to say if this is true i would be kinda suprised by it.

I dont know about that thought to me bungie dropped the ball with halo, to me. Halo 1 was still the best of the 3. But they are still working on 3 differnt Projects. so one could still be a halo game.

This is really weird..... just over an hour ago, as I was posting in another thread about the PS4 and in general, thinking about the Next Gen....

....I thought "I bet Halo4 (official title TBA) will arrive as a launch game for the next XBOX"...

this is kinda eerie. I was going to put it in my sig, as a prediction of mine.... but now, everyone will just think that I heard this rumor and am basing it off of that.

Although believe it or not, I have had dreams and seen them come true in the future.

Are you really ready to shell out anothwer $400 for a new system slready? If Microsoft relase a new xbox in the next 2 years, which is quite possible how much of a diffrence in graphics do you think there will be.

I think the 360 and the PS3 still have tons a power left, they shoudl be developing it for the 360. I think Microsoft will be trying to sell you consoles like videocards.

That's true but alot of the orginal halo1 one people are no longer there.

They made the horrible port...of Halo:CE, OH LORD NO!!!1!

Srsly though, that was port was optimized like **** and the only was lagtacular!

Could be, they ported Halo for PC afterall, MS would be mad to give up their cashcow, and if Bungie won't make it, then Gearbox sounds like a possibility. But why nextbox and not the 360.

how good are gearbox? from wiki i've learnt that they've made a few half-life spin-off games and ports, plus the brothers in arms series (never played any)

i wonder if this is a risk

M$ would have been better giving this to RARE .. i know PDZ wasn't such a great game, but the devs still have a lot of talent

Goes to show RARE can single handily destroy their own IP, whereas Gearbox can do something brilliant with someone else's IP (HL Opposing Fronts)

I guess it wont have master hief, which is good and bad. Include master chief, instant fail, do not include him, the game better be good.

Oh I'm so excited for the next xbox :D New xbox, featuring halo 4 as its launch title with playstation 1 graphics, controlled by two tv remotes. Not only that, the new xbox will be built with 10 cell processors, maximising the calculation speed of man kind's extinction. Even though 99% of the xbox will come with an initial RROD, they're only selling 5999.9US$, what more can you guys ask for? Wait, there's more. The new xbox will be the only gaming platform, which means, EA has bought the MS gaming division and monopolised the industry, while people will stop liking the beautiful graphics that is offered by the PC because we all know those graphics are bad for our eyes.

Well, I'm sort of happy if this rumor is true. Bungie won't be tied to halo anymore. Their ideas for the halo franchise were pretty much gone I quess, and it's better if they start to work on something different and ambitious. Sometimes it's good to start with a clean slate again. On the other hand, gearbox might have ideas of their own to improve the series. I don't expect it to be anything near as good as the previous halo's, but maybe it will be enjoyable.

Anyhow, I'll be always thinking back to the "good ol' days" of playing halo 2 online. The best about that time was that everybody played it, you could always find people as good as yourself, and the community wasn't too sh*tty yet. Now however, I want to see something completely new.

Great way to execute a character who was better than the entire cast of two dimensional drones, through design.... by making him a mindless co-op bot fill in, with unlimited respawns.
