The only way this is possible is if the game comes out of their North Carolina studio that was recently establishedULTIMATEZWARRIO
What does that have to do with it?
Sony have tried to acquire Insomniac in the past but they remained insistant on staying independant, the freedom of being able to go multiplatform is probably a reason for that. Personally, I think this could very possibly be true. Obviously, Resistance and Ratchet are owned by Sony but I can see Insomniac making a new IP for PS3 and 360, while continuing with some PS3 exclusives as well. I don't see anything wrong with this, they are a business after all and widening their audience and sales is a good thing.
I have no doubts in their games either, they are a quality developer and they would never compromise quality. However, they do definitely have a lot of perks when exclusively with Sony such as development help from other first party studious and assistance with resources and funding. It could go either way.
I won't believe it till I see it, but i'm more surprised that Sony don't own them, I really thought they did.

I don't think the ability of going multi platform is the only reason, it's probably the sheer freedom that they have. Look at what Activion is doing to Infinity Ward now, I bet they wish they were independent of Activision right now.

The ability to go multiplat is what I meant by freedom. What other freedom do they have that developers like Naughty Dog / Sucker Punch / Santa Monica don't have? They all share resources and help each other out when making games and all receive help directly from Sony. The only extra choice they have that I see is the ability to develop on other consoles, other than that they are literally the same.

And what if Sony turns into Activision? Thats why they dont want to be owned.

Thats extremely far fetched, Sony and Insomniac have been working together for around 15 years. If the relationship has remained strong for such a long period of time I don't think there is anything to worry about in that sense.

True. But seriously the only reason is to go multiplat for the money...

Thats exactly right, the ability to increase their audience and sales is the reason.

But wouldnt they be better off with Sony (so they work with the other devs like ND, Suker punch etc)?

Well thats the dilemma isn't it and the thing I mentioned in my original post. They certainly do have a lot of perks working exclusively with Sony. They share resources with other developers and help each other out, they also receive help and funding directly from Sony. So I suppose you could say the positives of working exclusively outweigh the negatives of not as much sales. Being exclusive also allows more time for polishing and grants extra attention and spotlight in the industry. It really just depends on what Insomniac want, no one knows whats going to happen.

And we've seen what a game looks like on the ps3 when a dev takes time and utilizes all (or most) of the resources from the ps3...

You're probably right, because, Sony could've done the RARE thing and bought into them a bit to keep things exclusive, but they didn't even want that. After such a long relationship I am a bit curious as to why multiplatform is important, sure exra money, but it may be more then just money, they may be looking to expand and become a bigger developer. Multi platform development across more than just the 360 is probably a big component of that.
