Sweet.Dual analog, better graphics and no UMD's = purchase from me. Hell, Dual analog alone means a purchase from me.Can't wait for PSP2 and the 3DS.

Lol to some people taking this as fact. It's just a rumour.

"We've also been told the Sony is deliberately spreading misinformation about PSP2 in order to identify where leaks are emerging. Considering your mother probably knows someone who's seen a kit first-hand, we're going to wish the Sony bods luck with that."
I say remain skeptical people.
If they have it so that you go into the store, get a little memory stick, plug it into your psp 2, and install it onto your psp (as many times as you want).. This will be a day one buy.Easylehmm...my only concern with the system itself is that with bigger more detailed games comes a need for more memory built in of course. i wonder how much theyll give you right out the box.....this is gonna be insane. keeping up with memory sticks and buying up games from the psn store. i predict this will probably be an issue at first...
More power than a 360 inside such a small package? Im not convinced, not yet anyway but it does sound interesting. It also sounds like it may be expensive. How much it will cost would be nice to know.
My thoughts exactly...the price of this thing will prolly be through the roof if it can match 360 graphics. Also, games looking better than the wii are not too difficult. The wii has last gen graphics. IMO, this is Sony doing what they do, hyping the specs of their machine. I don't expect the PSP2 to have all that processing power. It's just to snag our interest(see PS2 and PS3 initial specs when marketing).i dont see why people find it hard to believe a hand held can match the power of a 5 year old console because it can the only problem will be price (just like psp and ps3 you would think that sony would learn their lesson??) and battery life (psp), also some 3ds games look stuning and better than the wii

"We've also been told the Sony is deliberately spreading misinformation about PSP2 in order to identify where leaks are emerging."
Sounds far more likely than Sony having something that rivals the 360 in power. Then again stranger things have happened.

Absolutely. Thats a silly amount of power for a handheld, and a silly claim. Rumors tend to blow the power of new hardware way out of proportion. For example, the 3DS.
[QUOTE="coolkid93"]No UMD? That would suck.HavocV3
not exactly. I believe UMD consumes more power than a cartidge-based system would. so cartridge-memory stick based media prolongs battery life more than a UMD can. (oh, and load times are worse from a disc anyways)
and a UMD involves moving parts, which means there's more chances of things breaking. whether it's from age, manufacturing faults.
major downfall is the manufacture of the actual games. which is what makes UMD more ideal. if end-user pricing is unaffected, then it can be a moot point.
I can deal with that. With download, I have to worry about if my psp will be able to download the item that I bought. Could I buy another memory card? Yes I can but that's more money coming out of my pocket. And then you can't sell or trade games with download. With UMD I can though. And I actually feel like I'm adding to my collection. The GO was a waste so why make another psp that's download only again? You can play both downloadable games and UMD with the 3000. I say just keep both and add on to the 3000 and maybe change it's look I guess. It doesn't really make sense to me to make an all download system when you can turn the 3000 into one. The UMD slot doesn't keep you from doing so. And when it comes to buying UMD games, you can search for different prices. With download you can't.right and it will last you a whole 5 minutes of battery life. Figures they would add a touch screen...biting nintendo again. And next week we will find out that psp2 magically does 3D as well.
If the 3DS is $300 in Japan I wonder what this'll cost :?
Epak_
If this rumor is true (Again, just a rumor), then this thing in Japan bare minimum is $500, U.S. and Europe, U.S. $450, Europe (after exchange) $550!!!!!!!
Ohh yeah, after buying this, plunk down another $100 min, for a 6 lbs "Waist attachment battery pack. This battery pack can be attched to your waist belt, with a electric cord that attches to your PSP2, offer extended playing hours!!!!!!". This 6lbs battery is needed because the battery that comes with the machine can only run it for 20 minutes before it runs out!
if it has no second analog, it will fail. sony never listened when redesigning the psp. that was like the most asked for feature.antifanboyftwThere was no way to add a second analog stick on the PSP without alienating existing players. They didn't add a second stick because they COULDN'T, not because they were ignoring customers. The new PSP is a fresh start and from everything we know it has 2 analog inputs.

For alot people, who have better things to do, 4-6 hours is not nearly enough, especially for long car trips say, on vacation, and the drive last at least 8 hours or longer.....We don't like to recharge everyday. PSP last around 4 hours (playing movies), 6 hours for games (some games like GTA, less than that), and it got KILLED by the DS because of this! For a handheld, battery life bare min. should be 10 hours! DS with min. backlight, last around 8-10hrs. Hence this is one of the reason why it killed the PSP on the market. This is NOT hating, only someone who defends the PSP onto death is blinded to this common knowledge!
Lol, lets just wait till the price is announced.... I doubt this beast would sell if it really has these specs.

4-6 hours is what you basically get from an IPhone if you play games in it.
That seems enough for the casual-market as they have basically left Nintendo for it.

How so.? The PSP had close to PS2 graphics on 2005 when the closes portable had N64 graphics, the xbox 360 is 5 years old by now there is a ton of GPU's out there stronger and way superior to the Xenos and RSX,the problem would be heat and battery life more than availability of something more powerful than the Xenos or RSX,even more now than 5 years ago,now tech is going way faster and chips are much smaller and more heat efficient than on 2005 and 2006.Haters always talk about how a new handheld device will only have a battery life of 30 seconds, only to be disappointed when it lasts 4-6 hours which is plenty of time for most people.[QUOTE="Timstuff"][QUOTE="StryderK"]

The PSP lasting 4 to 6 hours had nothing to do with Nintendo winning on the market which has been theirs since ever,Nintendos has beat any one on the portable market worst than Sony did with the PS1 and 2 on the console one, until the PSP arrived, which has been the closes thing to a success on the portable market that doesn't come from Nintendo. Second if you are going on a car use a car lighter charger for your PSP is easy and cheap, either way 8 hours is not far from 6 for gaming, but who can play 8 hours on a portable with a 3 inch screen come on not even my kids can tolerate that much time. You don't like to recharge every day well i think you don't own a cell phone, those had to be charge each day, more if it is a smart phone like the iphone or the galaxy s which i own,i don't see any valid reasons on your post, hell try to play the DS with minimum backlight for 8 hours.[QUOTE="StryderK"]

But iPhone strictly speaking is NOT a game machine though, casuals view it more as a phone than a game machine, it's battery life under phone operation is what's important, playing games on it is extra so 4-6 hours gaming on a phone is more than enough!
But PSP is different, PSP, wheather 1 or 2 is a GAME machine, as a portable game machine, battery life is at the forefront, especially for longer trips, 4-6 hours is not enough, even the shortest commute say, but subway can last more than an hour, if a portable game machine has a battery life of 4 hours, that means 1/4 of its life is gone....And lets say you carry it home, or during lunch, you play it some more, by the end of the day, you game stops and needs recharge, or worse, on a long car trip, before the trip is half over, battery's dead......This is way for ALL Portables, a min. of 10 hours is a must. PSP game battery life is around 4-6 hours depending on the game....And one reason why the DS killed it is because DS battery life is around 10-12 hours!

One reason Nintendo dominated IS the battery life since the begining! Sega never ever succedded because their portables chew up battery life like crazy! And PSP is NOT a success! Success means you sell not only hardware well, but also software well. Except in Japan, PSP software sales have been ATROCIOUS! Leading many to believe people bought the machine for purposes other than gaming! Car lighter only work for some situations, no one likes to be "Tethered" to the front of the car while the kids is at the back, and some car rechargers doesn't even have that long of a wire! And for some "herky jerky" kids if you know what I mean, the restricted freedom is a pain! Something like that KILLS the portablility in portables! And as for kids, you don't know how long they can concentrate on long car trip with a good game....My friends kids can play their gameboy colors all day on long trips....So it's different for everyone! As for phone, at night, you can always turn them off...And even if on, a good cell phone battery can last you at least 2 and a half day before quitting.....Again, the standard is 10 hours! PSP did got nailed on the battery life cause on movies, it last no more than 1 and half hour, on some games, like GTA, only 4! That's not nearly enough!
If the 3DS is $300 in Japan I wonder what this'll cost :?

Every single friend of my who has an iphone use it for gaming as much as talking sometimes even more, the iphone is a complete package rather than just a phone, reason why is so popular, and playing games is one of the best features and most used ones as well. Why you insist in bringing long car trips when there are charger for cars for the PSP,the DS get 8 hours to 10 hours is the same it will not last you for ever dude, and it will need recharge as well. Wow now you just upped the battery life of the DS from 8 to 10,to 10 to 12 my god... The DS beat the PSP because the portable market has been from Nintendo since ever, who actually expected sony to come into the portable market and do to the DS what the PS1 did to the N64 who.? It had nothing to do with battery life it had more to do with Nintendo been kings on the portable market. What's the point in putting out both a PSP2 AND a Playstation phone.
Surely it would be a smarter move just to go with the Playstation phone, since unlike most phones this is actually a fully capable portable games console too with proper controls, and then only have one main handheld to focus on.
Now that's a proper step up in horsepower.
I would like to see SIM card phone functionality.

Really, there is no reason why not. Hopefully Sony have some sense in them.
