Sounds too crazy stupid to be true. Im sure if something like that was being made it would be an original IP.
Id be on board if it was true but Im sure its not.
once again, Retro stuck with old franchises instead of creating a new IP. Way to go Nintendo, keep on relying on those 20+ years old franchises. Hope this isn't true no matter how good this game might look.laus_basicwhat the f*ck does it matter if the game is good :/
Retro has proven that they're more than capable of putting a fresh spin on exsisting franchises

People just want to see Retro make a new IP for Nintendo, but with the lack of attention with whatever new IP's Nintendo spawns nowadays, is it all that surprising?I think it sounds awesome. Retro are the king of pacing and level design. They'll know how to execute this perfectly. I have complete faith in them.

what the f*ck do some of you refuses to see a talented studio do an ambitious brand new IP. Am I saying this can't end up being a great game, absolutely not especially coming from a talented house like Retro. I'm just tired of seeing the same characters, the same enemies, the same world. Give these guys the creative freedom they deserve. Retro has proven themselves countless times and never once did they had the chance to create something of their own, something completely new. And even if you people are satisified with playing the same old franchises over and over again, Nintendo need new IPs whether you like or not. Even Miyamoto admited that they can't just rely only on their old franchises anymore and it's about time to create something new, new characters.People just want to see Retro make a new IP for Nintendo, but with the lack of attention with whatever new IP's Nintendo spawns nowadays, is it all that surprising?nintendoboy16When's the last time Nintendo went all out on a brand new IP? And by that I mean Nintendo treating a brand new IP just like they do their main franchises (Mario for ex). Having a big talented team working on it, giving them all the ressources they need, giving the advertising push it need to sale?

Some recent new IPs are Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii.
Most of the new IPs are on handhelds though.
Edit* Most of the time when somebody points out Nintendo's new IPs they usually respond it's not Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, or Smash Bros. so it sucks.

Circular argument, although I can confidently state if Nintendo comes up with a new IP and gives it the same push that they give Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Smash Bros, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Mario Kart, it will definitely sell. Look at Kid Icarus- a 'new' IP, and in a genre (genres?) where it shouldn't have sold, particularly given the system it was on, and it was a success. All Nintendo needs to do is really try. When they try, they are successful. When they don't, they aren't.[QUOTE="laus_basic"][QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]People just want to see Retro make a new IP for Nintendo, but with the lack of attention with whatever new IP's Nintendo spawns nowadays, is it all that surprising?nintendoboy16

I'm not going to flat out and say I don't want this, I want to see where it's headed first and what it's going to be like. I personally think if it's an action-adventure title with some platforming similar to Starfox Adventures or Metroid:Other M I will enjoy it a lot.
How did it suck if it got favorable review scores? After how much Other M sucked, I guess I'll take this even though I'm not big on Star Fox.

I don't care nor have I ever bothered to check what reviews it got. All I know is that I hated it, and it ranks up there as one of the biggest disappointments of the gen for me. I don't even care about the story, I thought the gameplay sucked, the map layout sucked, the music sucked, the lack of exploration sucked, and overall, it just wasn't Metroid to me. Even if Fox is chained to Samus' leg, at least if this rumor is true, Retro will be the one working on this series again,

Yes?
Are you suggesting a new high-profile franchise by Nintendo wouldn't be big? Lesser companies have had success with new franchises this gen.
If Nintendo's only definition of "big" is "40 million units", then maybe it wouldn't be "big" for them, but if thats the case then they need to get their priorities straight.
[Quote="Paul Gate Network"] -Some folk at Retro Studios wanted to develop a new ip that involved 3rd person sci-fi action with intense aerial combat.
- Others apparently were leaning towards taking the Star Fox helm.
- Nintendo sees Retro Studios as a very competent developer and worked with them in creating the hybrid title of Star Fox ? Metroid: Fusion Saga.
- The title has multiple gameplay mechanics and needed a wide staff of talent to incorporate the many ideas.
- The story begins as you control Fox McCloud and the Star Fox team on deep space mission in your Arwing, flying through a Meteos-like stage. As you enter a light speed warp, there?s a collision with an orange ship (Samus?) and the game continues with you now plummeting to a planet as Samus in her craft. You?re in mild control of her ship, using the Wii U controller to look around and touch screen press the lit up buttons to prepare for impact (while the TV stays locked on what you see out of the cockpit). You?re now on land, as a ?yet again? stripped down Samus Aran with the most basic of weapon abilities, in first person perspective, traversing through this unknown planet.
- The game switches off between intense Arwing space and planetary battles as Fox makes his way to the planet that Samus crashed on and a Metroid Prime-like experience of gameplay as Samus on this planet, gradually uncovering its mysteries, leveling up, etc.
- The Star Fox stages represent what the series is best known for, including the chatter and coming to the aid of the rest of your team, all range mode battles, and on rails stages.
- The Metroid part of the game puts you alone, void of human or any talking character contact, and like the Prime series, sees you gaining upgrades, battling bosses, and in this case, repairing your ship.
- The game is said to be epic in size, scope, ambition.
- The pacing has been perfected to not interrupt what the feeling is behind either franchise, since Star Fox is more often known for being acceptable to have short sessions with and Metroid rather the opposite. You can opt to continue playing either just Samus? part or Fox?s part without crossing over for much of the main game (or play it as it?s scripted back and forth), but will eventually have to complete both, as the characters will ultimately meet up.
- There will be later parts in the game where you do get to control Samus? ship and fly it Star Fox style.
- Likewise, Fox McCloud will be controllable by foot (both the above and this bullet point represent a period in the game after the two sides meet up) and be played via 3rd person perspective. Think of Jet Force Gemini with Fox?s known agility as he?s portrayed to having in the Smash Bros. series. (Fox will move more like Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden and less like he did in Star Fox Adventures).
- Though a tentative title, the idea behind the story of ?Fusion Saga? is both a play on the fact that the two series are fusing together into one game and of course, a storyline behind Andross using Metroids to enhance himself, his army, etc.
- Star Fox ? Metroid: Fusion Saga is wholly a satisfying adventure game as Samus, an equally electrifying aerial combat game as Fox, and something that delivers an exciting, special change that fans will love.
- In consideration was the Star Fox portion having 4 player co-op online, but instead the game will have leaderboards for time and percent complete for all parts of the game and multiplayer will be simply versus mode based.charizard1605
This is the same site that leaked Playstation All Stars Battle Royale and Donkey Kong Country Returns, so...
I mean, it sounds crazy, but then again. who's to say it's crazy enough?
retro studios is horrible.Didn't even read the OP, even though I usually hate the people who don't...
I'm a fan of both Metroid and Starfox, and I believe a crossover between the two is the dumbest idea ever. I really can't believe this could ever happen.

LMAO  oh wowFrom GAF: Samus: Fox senpai, it is so damn hot in this lava cave. I might not make it. Fox: Ok, i am authorizing the varia suit... Slippy: Yeah, this baby can take temperatures up to 9000 degrees! Samus: Oh no! I saw Ridley...my PTSD hits me again... Don't see how these two universes would merge well. Maybe if it were an action-adventure in the vein of Star Fox Adventures but that game wasn't exactly the most well received so yeah...
I'd rather Retro make Prime 4 and the new Star Fox could be handeled by the Miyamoto team (keeping true to SNES original and SF64).
[QUOTE="laus_basic"]To those who say "why bother, I'm ok with the same old same old", "it wouldn't sell anyway" or "who cares, as long as the game's good." It's possible but by no means is it unlimiting.
There are many possibilities they could only explore if they started from scratch.
They did that with Star Fox Command. Well not the Miyamoto part but Star Fox Command and Star Fox 64 3D were developed by many of the same people that worked on Star Fox and Star Fox 64 when they were a Argonaut Software but now they are at Q Games.Don't see how these two universes would merge well.
