Rumour, Rockstar going PS3 exclusive after GTAIV

Are you sure about LA Noire being PS3 exclusive? I don't see any logos or anything final about platforms on any of it's sites, and it says that it's coming out for "Next Generation Consoles" here: http://www.teambondi.com/projects/la-noire/

The financial report also stated that fellow Take-Two title LA Noire is due out in fiscal 2008. The spokesperson suggested that both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases are likely, stating, "LA Noire is being developed for next-generation systems."

I thought Rockstar already announced over a year ago that they are planning some PS3 exlcusive games. My impression was that only GTA costs a fortune to develop so they pretty much have to make it multuplat to make money.

I doubt that Take-Two has anything to do with whether or not this rumour is true.

Yeah, After GTA4 there will be a Rockstar exclusive game for the PS3. Sony said they chose this game over GTA. Rockstar says they want it to be exclusive to take full advantage of the PS3's capabilities. I hope it's good!

Apparently Rockstar has had it with Take2, buyouts, ect and will be leaving Take two, and will no longer work on GTA games as that property will stay with Take two. Instead they will jump into bed with Sony like they did last gen and will make games exclusive for PS3.

He's talking about GTA on the PS2 and Xbox, not PS3 and Xbox 360. Read it again.

I know what he said, all I'm sayin is, GTA always dropped on Playstation first, but Rockstar going exclusive to the PS3, how is that any different from the pass...its not, Microsoft will still get the game late.

I don't think this is true at all, L.A Noire is PC/360 and PS3. Take Two is not going to get bought buy MS anytime soon with Midnight Club and GTAIV coming out.

Rockstar and Sony do have really good relations though, so there is potential.

So, Rockstar is forced to delay their biggest franchise due to having major development issues on PS3. The console is really tough to develop for, far more than 360. And because of this, GTA IV was delayed for 6 months and Rockstar had to spend even more money to get the PS3 version up and running. Rockstar stands to make even more money from the 360 version because of Xbox Live exclusive content.

Yeah...seems real logical that Rockstar wants to go PS3 exclusive after GTA IV. :roll: Seriously, has Rockstar lost their freaking minds?

If Sony gets Rockstar it'll be one of the best decisions, they're always about quality, even if its just GTA after GTA, they never let me down. And after they finish the GTA franchise, their next one will be great too, they're just one of those companies like Naughty Dog or Insomniac that churn out quality products.

Because, you know that if a company decides to develop exclusively for a console, they typically go to the console that they think will sell the most copies of their games. This might even explain why Rockstar is developing exclusive content for Xbox Live. Rockstar was paid to do this. But maybe, just maybe, Rockstar felt it was also necessary to do so to try and get more money from the 360 version of GTA IV.

So, Rockstar is paid to make exclusive content on Xbox Live, Xbox 360 is far ahead of PS3 in sales, and PS3 caused Rockstar major pains throughout development. If Rockstar is truly going PS3 exclusive after GTA IV, then there really is only one explanation...RockStar doesn't think that GTA IV or their future titles this gen will sell nearly as well on Xbox 360 as they would PS3. It is basically a slap in lemmings faces and an admittance that PS3 will bring them more revenue (if this rumor is true). Afterall, PS3 is selling better lately and outsold Xbox 360 by 17% in January.

Maybe RockStar is being logical after all. If this rumor is in anyway true, than RockStar sure doesn't put much faith in the 360.

Not that I am bothered by it at all as I have both consoles, but in what way would it suck for the GTA series?! GTA was born on playstation?!

And If the rumour is true, then all I can say is at least Sony have a great team of devs working on exclusives for them because that's the kind of thing they really need right now..
