I dont see changes happening, they already announced 8gb RAM.
In a weird twisted way, the X1 is very balanced. That weak GPU doesnt need more than 5gb free RAM to reach its maximum peak.

I guess its a good thing they never set a release date. If that true then it def wont be coming out until at least spring of 2014
[QUOTE="tormentos"][QUOTE="ronvalencia"] I already have 16 GB DDR3-2133 on my PC since early this year. To support 8 GB GDDR5 on 256 bit bus, one must look at the road maps from GDDR5 manufactures. Your "lemming land fanboy" statement is a joke.ronvalencia
Your PC is not the xbox one, your PC also has a 7970 does the xbox one has a 7970.?
See this is what make you look like a complete pathetic fanboy,if sony wanted 12GB they would put it,the road map mean sh**,it just mean fewer units at launch do to having a bigger demand for chips.
The fact that you just bring your PC as example prove how much of a blind fanboy you are,my PC could have 16GB of ram with 3 GPU in SLI,doesn't mean the PS4 can you know.
Both X1 and my desktop PC uses the same DDR3-2133 memory type and it's already in stock in many places. The pathetic fanboy is you since I'm just reporting GDDR5 road map from certain GDDR5 manufacturer.
Ron dont entertain the fanboi, the whole forum respects your opinion and the whole forum thinks he is a mindless fanboy.
People don't buy phones for 500 bucks. It's 800-some without a plan, but most enter a two year agreement and buy at $99 or $199. The pricing schemes of phones and consoles are in no way comparable.[QUOTE="LordOfPoms"][QUOTE="kuu2"]
On what planet are phones a one entry payment?kuu2
Smart people do. Buying your phone means you can go to any carrier at anytime instead of being locked in to some draconian contract. The two are very comparable now that these consoles are having you buy into networks to access all of their functionalities.
very very few people do, unless maybe its a used phone.[QUOTE="ronvalencia"][QUOTE="LordOfPoms"] I'm not talking about RAM in general, I'm talking about the viability of upgrading your system this late into the production game. The consoles are entering mass production now for a November release. If MS were really trying to upgrade their system, they might jeopardize that launch window and have to push it back by a month and miss Black Friday.LordOfPomsIt depends on the lead times for certain parts. "Stock parts" such as DDR3-2133 has less lead time than non-stock high density GDDR5 parts. Very true, but since we don't know if this plan was maybe thought about in April, or just now, we can only really guess if this will impact production. The educated guess would be this is a new change and it could lead to a serious delay (serious meaning 2-3 weeks from planned release) of the launch. MS can't really afford for Sony to have their cheaper system on the market for a few weeks uncontested so they can add more RAM that may not close the gap like they think it will.
Well, it's up to MS...
I'm waiting for Radeon HD 9970 (with Battlefield 4) coming this October 2013. http://wccftech.com/amds-generation-volcanic-islands-gpus-possibly-launching-october-branded-hd-8000-series/
AMD plans to move 7000s to the value market.

[QUOTE="Tighaman"]It can easily be done unless you all on this site are a bunch of kids, never had to work in a manufacturing plant I can tell you that there are many stages and changes going on in every plant, up to 2 months to a month of shipping. I'm not saying that they will change any specs but when I saw the xbox one it looks too big as if MS already had it in plans.tormentos
Bullsh**..
The xbox 360 ram increase happen on 2004,not 5 months before launching, and when the final board is already finish, there is no hardware change and the xbox one been adertise as a 8GB console pretty much confirm it,not even the clock speed of the GPU would be touch unless is a downclock, not when yield issues are say to still be a problem.
I just saying that the big box that they showed looked as if they where finished with the outside but was still uncertain what and how much they was going to be inside. They said that the cooling system was over performing their expectation I'm not saying its happening just saying it looked like the plan.[QUOTE="Chris_Williams"]People buy phones and tablets for that price, that won´t be a deciding factor for the mainstream costumer. However most people with phones and tablets aren't paying $500 out of pocket though. Anybody with Sprint, AT&T, T Mobile and Verizon are on contracts and are paying subsidized prices. I didnt have to dish $550 out of my pocket to take home my iPhone. It was $50 per phone. Most people using Metro PCS and Straight Talk are using shitty entry level Androids still running Froyo and Gingerbread.400<500

I guess you missed my NVIDIA CUDA vs CELL's SPEs. The war with NVIDIA vs ATI(AMD) been going before the console wars and I don't see why Hermits would change their pattern for the consoles.
Again, you are missing the AMD PRT's main purpose and existence.
For "You can put 20GB of ram on a 7770 it will never beat a 7870 never." statement, AMD Cinema 2.0 demos would gimp 8 GB PC e.g. it needs 16 GB. There's a reason why workstations has 16 GB to 64 GB of memory.
X1 is not 7770.
ronvalencia
Your arguments are so easy to kill, the xbox one is not workstation, and graphics on workstation are not running on real time while been controlable like games are,a workstation can render avatar graphics, but can it let you play in real time with them.? Not even 3 Titans get close to Avatar graphics see because renders and real time are 2 different things.
Ad performance wise the xbox one is a 7770.

It was born on Beyodn3D a few days ago,by the same people who have scream secret sauce for the xbox one, since they learn from the weaker than PS4 spec.

What rubbish statements. The workstation OTOY application was running in real time with massive voxel lighting data.
X1 is not 7770. i have already told you why 7770 wouldn't work.
This is Cowspot remember. The same forum that said Sony would dominate last gen and that Sony would catch MSoft within a year of launch. The same forum that said rumble was not needed. The same forum that talked about specs for almost an entire generaion till they finally had games to play.

When was the last time the PS console was outselling the xbox one on US or UK.?
Because as of now the PS4 is outselling it,badly.
"Id like to announce today that microsoft is officially the most power console on the market today. We have decided that gamers and consumers needed even more power to get the most immersive and lifelike experince availible. So I am proud to announce our upgraded GPU and RAM for the xbox one! This holiday season you can own the most powerful hardware in the galaxy, for only 899.99 dollars!
Agreed. Unless they planned for this all along and had that option open. This far into the game and with it as close as we are to launch adding the memory would require too many hardware changes to be done so late. The over clocking I could see as that's probably something that has already been R&D'd at this point and with the heat sink shown on that leaked picture of the innards seems more than possible. If I were a MS fanboy I wouldn't place any money on this rumor coming true. Although if anyone has the money to make it happen in such a short time it would be MS. I just hope that whoever is doing the production on their hardware this time around does a better job than they did with the 360.Ya, I don't see this happening...

He is right about the GDDR5 though. To get 8GB Sony are using the highest density modules available. To increase the amount again would require more physical chips which means new traces on the main board and it would also require a 384 bit memory bus like on the 79xx series GPU. That is a lot of work for not a huge amount of gain. I am not sure I believe the 12GB rumour though because its similar on the X1. It has a 256bit memory bus so that is a total of 4 channels. 8GB means 2GB per channels which is fine but 12GB would require 2x2GB and 2x4GB which does not seem likely. I doubt there will be an up clock unless the yield is better than anticipated at it does not bring the number of working parts down below their desired minimum but I would have thought MS would prefer to have more units available to sell rather than a slight increase in performance.
If 8 GB was over kill for a Laptop part... 12GB is stupid... It would never use it. Will do nothing in the end except cost more.
Up-clock isn't going to happen unless they spend even more on the cooler and be willing to dump the majority of the chips because they are bad at OC'ing.
The power brick would also need to be higher watt.
Don't see this happening at all.
"Local graphics memory" points towards two speed memory setup as in the PC or X1 i.e. using smaller faster memory as a hardware manage cache for larger/slower memory pool. PS4 only has one speed memory setup which reduces the value for AMD PRT.ronvalencia"Local graphics memory" means the on board GDDR5 of modern GPUs. PRT will be as useful on PS4 as it will be on X1. Infact it might be more useful on the PS4 because the high speed memory pool is a lot larger than 32MB so it will work on larger textures without any bandwidth penalty.
The second aspect of PRT is managing the tiles. In essence PRT reduces local video memory to a very large cache, where tiles are mapped/pinned as necessary and then evicted as per the cache rules, and elsewhere the hardware handles page/tile translation should a tile not already be in the cache. Large tomes have been written on caching methods, and this aspect is of particular interest to AMD because what they learn about caching here they can apply to graphical workloads (i.e. professional) and not just gaming.Anandtechhttp://www.anandtech.com/show/5261/amd-radeon-hd-7970-review/6
Even if this did happen, the PS4 would still have a significant edge. The GPU in the PS4 has twice the fillrate performance and 50% more raw shading performance.

HAHAHAHAHHA  +1Ain't gonna happen. I had hoped for an upgrade before the E3 reveal but there wasn't one. Ain't gonna get one now. And 12 gigs of RAM doesn't even make sense. That would be overkill in a big way.
...They need a new and powerful gpu if anything.
mitu123
This.
It's what needs redsigned more than anything else. That and the memory architecture, not the amount of it. But doing so would mean delaying it and they ain't gonna do that.
I just heard a rumor that the X1 will now have 64Gb GDDR6, 3xNvidia Titan SLI and a Intel Core i7-3970X. I heard it from the dog of the brother of the cousin of a neighbour.
Should i make a stupid thread about this like this one?
awww, i didn't believe it would be $1000, just pointing out the fact you didn't have a clue how much it would cost. you got lucky with a guess. I changed my sig, because my last one was outdated and your Last of Us meltdown was too funny to pass on. Yeah i nicked clone01's joke, i will use just like he does, and post it when your post makes no sense......so expect to see it quite regularly. sts106mat

What make you think MS is not using the highest desncity DDR3 modules.?
They can't add more without getting higher density ones, which is what people on Beyond3D were desperately trying to find to even claim that it was possible, and you don't have to change the memory bus to use more than 8GB of GDDR5,the 79XX in most cases use half the ram the PS4 has yet they have bigger bus.
The xbox ne is 8Gb this is a rumor that started by the secret sauce clan on Beyond3D nothing more nothing less.
