[QUOTE="II_Seraphim_II"] You see but the thing is its not just "some people". Its the overwhelming majority. What you just said is like saying "why remove DRM? Its what makes it different from the other consoles and to remove it just cause some people dont think its useful is just silly." lol.bigbaldwolf86

How do you come to the conculusion that it is the overwhelming majority? Even if everyone on here hated Kinect being included, which isn't the case anyway, it wouldn't be the overwhelming majority. Remember, Kinect is the reasons for 360 resurgance in many markets on top of the fact that 24+ million have bought one. Remember these forums are only a tiny fraction of the population. People tend to feel so strongly against kinect because knee jerk reactions are a thing of the interwebs.

To be fair. 24 million sales don't mean that all of those people liked Kinect either. I bought it and it quickly became an ornament. A lot of people don't like it or don't want to try it because of how poorly the current one was used, supported etc. The main issue with Kinect seems to be that it's pushing the price up above the PS4 and that's a deal breaker. If MS had not made in mandatory and given people the freedom to choose by releasing 2 bundles they could have made a lot of people happier.

I know they want Kinect as standard so that devs know everyone has one and can develop for it but we risk having it shoe horned onto so many games that don't necessarily need it. I don't want to shout orders for troops at my TV and I don't want to jump around like an idiot. I just want my console and my controller.

The Kinect is in there whether people like it or not. People bough the PS3 despite it costing more than the 360 for the majority of the generation. People would've traded the blu-ray drive for a lower priced PS3 at launch. I don't think it is a deal breaker. You're not going to be shouting orders at your troops if you dont want to or jumping up and down if you don't want to, but the hardware will be there for people who don't mind. You may not see the utility in having kinect included yet, but by it being included it will encourage developers to create those reasons to own it. Manufacturers need to differentiate their offerings and if the generation passes by and you find one useful reason for having a kinect then it was worth it.

People buy phones and tablets for that price, that won´t be a deciding factor for the mainstream costumer.

phone and tablets are usually a one entry payment. You get tons of free apps and they can be used for phone calls, school etc. Don't even sit here and try to compare them.

And why not? Are you serious? People here don't get it. Nobody looks at costs over the life of a purchase the way people complain here about it. Nobody I know bitched about the cost of live for 11 months then paid it on 12th. It was $5 per month, $4 and change for PS+, that needed to be paid once a year.

Despite my  personal opinions and experiances with Kinect I hope you are right to a degree. As I said in my post there is a danger that Kinect could just be whacked onto any game that doesn't need it but if developers can get creative then I expect we will see some great games for it in a few years. If everyone takes the safe option then it's just another Kinect. We will have to see how devs use it over the next few years to see if it was a good idea to have it in the box at launch

I have to agree, if the next gen lasts 7 or 8 years then this initial cost really does pale into significance. However I would like to see a decrease in micro transactions and on disc DLC.

True, i bought the wii 2 times and sold it twice, thank god i never bought the kinect, i would have sold it too. Motion control was a gimmick this gen, hopefully ms changes that next gen. I bought a playstation for the move too, and one gamecalled 'the fight' isn't all that bad, but it's physically demanding and far from perfect. The new kinect could be a revelation in this matter but mandatory no, i don't need it and i don't want to control my xbox with my voice either. I do want some nice boxing game with the kinect though but that's for in my fitness room.

Whether true or not this latest rumor makes MS look like a company in turmoil that really doesnt have a clue what to do with their new product and who would buy anything from a company in that position??

I never was interested in the xbone but with all these rumors consistantly coming through i'm amazed anybody at all is other than the hardcore fans that can see no wrong no matter the company does.

FAKE

Impossible to change RAM amount and GPU if launch is in November. It would mean redesign the APU and the memory layout. Considering the board already has 16 x 512mb modules, and a giant APU (compared to PS4) , there is no room for more 8 x 512mb memory modules...

Mass production has to start , the latest, in August, no way they could change the design from June to August and produce test units in time.

According to a NeoGAF leak, PS4 production started in June with about 500 units for testing and developer input, increasing to a couple thousands in July, then entering mass production in August.

By now, the console should be in mass production. This is impossible. Major changes would have to be made to the mainboard to make room for extra memory modules.

I dont understand why this is a bad thing? MS saw what the competition had and want to make sure that their machine is a competitive as possible. They have plenty of time before the XBOX ONE goes into full production with the launch likely nearly 4 months away.

Really, your talking about a company that has to produce 100+ thousands of their consoles ( sadly will not sell well) to meet consumer demands , which luckly for them they dont have. I guess your right, they could make a few hundred with the new specs, because that's probably the amount of people who will be buying xbone.

not necessarily, 360 only entered mass production 69 days before release, but i do get your point. This rumor is pretty close to 0.

not necessarily. It could use one 8GB stick and then another 4GB stick.   It depends on the max ram the board is designed to take.

But look at all the problems the 360 had at release. I doubt MS will risk another RROD fiasco by changing the hardware so soon to the release date and bypassing the recommended testing. But then again, MS has been making some rather odd and concerning decisions as of late so its possible :P I just hope they dont delay the console.

The reaction to this is hilarious. You people will spin anything regarding the Xbone negatively now. I don't think any of us could make decisions on how close to release they could go before finalizing the specs. Its Microsoft, I'm sure they have the money to meet demand not too far out from release. Remember that the 360 doubled its RAM fairly close to release. RROD had little to do with that, and more to do with crap thermal paste on the CPU. I love how everyone suddenly becomes a hardware expert overnight. You guys are hilarious. If MS increases the specs I won't be surprised in the least. Also won't be surprised that by triyng to improve the system, they will get backlash saying they are "backpeddling". Unreal.

I could see the memory upgrade, but a GPU is not needed because, NONE of the PS4 games were running at 60fps. Most were running at 30fps and a few were struggling at that rate. This info came from the developer of each game and one developer said their game was running at 25fps but they were hoping to reach 30fps by launch. Compare that to Microsofts booths. NOT ALL games were running on finished consoles but ALL games that were running on finished X1 consoles were running at 60fps.

Good grief, MS.

Shh, they're trying hard to make a PS4. 12GB ram is ridiculous though, lol.

Indeed. they don't need more slow ass DDR3 RAM they need a better GPU with faster RAM. Their shitty GPU is gimping the console.

Lol at slow ass DDR3. Plus, there GPU isn't terrible especially if they can speed it up. Like I have said before, people are buying too much in to the tech differences. There is not guarantee that we will see any noticeable differences between the consoles until later on.

Wrong. TitanFall was confirmed by DF that it was not running on 60 fps. Forza 5 is a sim racer. 60 fps on a sim must be the norm. Ryse was almost an on-rails game. Killzone SF, on the other hand, looks more open than previous games so 30 fps would be good for it. The only games I dont understand not being 60 fps on the PS4 are DriveClub and knack. Theres no point why games like that wont manage the 60 fps. But then again, they're launch titles.

They had to downclock the GPU to 750Mhz to get acceptable yields, and now a fantasy rumors says they are upclocking it?? Expect a new RRoD then! The eSRAM will be useless above 800mhz, it will just cook along with the GPU.

All this backpedaling...

Good grief, MS.

Shh, they're trying hard to make a PS4. 12GB ram is ridiculous though, lol.

Indeed. they don't need more slow ass DDR3 RAM they need a better GPU with faster RAM. Their shitty GPU is gimping the console.

The gap between X1 and PS4 is minor compared to 7850 vs 7970 Ghz Edition i.e. 2.4 TFLOPS gap.

Microsoft came forward and said that they did not have to downclock the GPU in the XBox One...

I thought MS pr said specs didn't really matter?

Krelian-co

more ram wont mean a thing without a decent gpu and cpu backing it up, 4 gb of ram are cheap, and would be nothing more than yet another publicity stunt by M$

More DDR3 RAM goes well with AMD PRT + 32 MB ESRAM.

Can some1 tell me why the f*ck would anyone release a console with 12gb of ram!? PC is far needing this and a console does? INVEST THE ADDITIONAL MONEY ON A BETTER GPU, dumbasses...silversix_
AMD Cinema 2.0 demos uses 8 to 16GB of memory.
