I have yet to have played a game that has made me feel sad the same way movies do. The Darkness, Half Life 2: Episode 2, Shadow of the Colossus... I mean, the games have "sad" moments, but have never had any impact on me emotionally. I have never gotten that lump-in-throat feeling, and I have never had to have started wiping my eyes and come up with a lame excuse.
EDIT:
---------SPOILER---------
The closest thing to me being affected emotionally in a game, was when Agro didn't make the jump.
Not true. I'm generally an active person, I hang out with friends a lot, but Gears 2 and MGS3 really touched my heart.Anybody who is over 15 and cries over video games needs to get out more.

FFX made me pretty sad. I always get sad whenever I play that freakin game. The soundtrack itself really brings out my emotions. And for those of you spewin out spoilers, there's a such thing as a
spoiler tag
You can ruin the game for everyone else -.-
Why? It was probably the only well written and near flawlessly executed story scene in Gears history.if someone said gears 2 when maria dies Im gonna have to shoot something/someone

An impressive show of comic skills.
No game ever made me cry, as far as I can remember.

So because my friends are apparently "wrong" and I'm not some cold hearted jerk, I'm wrong? Tell me, who are the right friends? Douche-baggey, emotionless morons who have like lots of underage sex and light beer? Or my friends, the ones that have always been there for me, and ones I've had so many good times with. I suppose you laughed during Pixar's Up during the beginning while everybody else was in the theater was crying.man there was one game where I teared up a lot but I don't remember what it was.
The Saddest Video game though has to be Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days.
You know what is to become of Roxas yet you see his life it just makes you sad. (no this is not the game I'm thinking of)

What's wrong with laughing when others cry?
MGS4 Microwave hallway.
And the ending of MGs4.
I had nightmares about being trapped in that hallway... Sure the game can get cheesy sometimes, but when it needs to be well-done, Kojima really hits you hard.
Excuse me? ...Strange, that came off to me as somewhat satanic. Let me get this straight: You laugh, LAUGH when you're surrounded by people distraught with emotion during a scene in a movie where a man's soul mate dies and he's completely lonely for the rest of his life. Haha, really funny. Do you like laughing at starving children with AIDs in Africa?...Strange, that came off to me as somewhat satanic. I prefer the stoic approach.
(For the record, I'm not being serious...)
Yeah I dont think I have ever cried at a video game unless it was on SF2 when i was little and my cousin kept hadoukening me until i died
Actualy, now that you mention it,all that talk about him turning off life suport for non essential personel, leading only to a few scientists surviving out of millions of protheans was kind of sad.The first time I talked to Vigil in Mass Effect was very emotional

I've yet to get sad from a video game. They just don't do it for me. The closest time is when I got sad from the beginning of "Up."
Never felt sad in a video game. The main character having an emotionless presence in-game kills my 'sad' or 'angry' emotions in a game. Whenever an indie game does it, I can't help but feel they were doing it just to be clever ordo what the big boys aren't doing.
Ican't feel for characters who are on one hand caring in a passive cutscene moment, and the next they're no different to Marcus Fenix.
Oh hell, almost none. Writing and characterization in video games is such garbage that whenever pathos is attempted, it falls flat because I can't bring myself to care about the characters.
Only 2 come to mind:
The title screen of Ocarina of Time, especially after you've beat the game for the first time. Notice that this is because of the music and my memories of how good the game was, not anything story-related.
The good ending of Persona 4, one of the only games I've ever played (...yeah, I'll go with "played") with really good characters and writing.
Yeah dude thats good for you but stop stating it like fact. Cuz your completely wrong and if you dislike games that much why are you even here?Oh hell, almost none.
