Scariest game ever, across all platforms, and all generations!

I've never played any true "horror" genre games, but I know that Metroid Prime can make you feel apprehensive and claustrophobic. I think it's because of the way that the helmet curves in around the screen, making you feel confined. I'm going to eventually pick up RE4 for the Wii, and see what a truly scary game is.Tylendal

RE4 is not a scary game. Its just an action game. It has maybe 1 or 2 scary parts, but thats it.

shadowman is a great, but very hard, game. never completed it! very creepy and atmospheric! amazing!

Silent Hill 1.

Doom 3 and F.E.A.R didn't scare me at all.

Silent Hill 2 - For its psychological mind games, and deep plot

Silent Hill 3 - Scary visuals, such as mutating walls and really disturbing creatures & plot

Fatal Frame - Just scary...

EDIT: I just rememberd playing or rather should I say, TRYING to play System Shock 2, but I was a sissy and couldnt get passed some areas because some of the atmospheric sounds that just scared me away :lol:

Eternal Darkness scared the living crap out of me so many times. And different kind of scares too, like ahhhh scared and OMFG! what happen to my memory card scared.p3anut

My faves were. "Thanks for Playing Eternal Darkness demo. Coming this fall". Screen appearing with all the typical preorder banter. And reloading your handgun and accidently having misfire taking your head off.

Yes, there are scarier games, but I agree that the Regenerators are very creepy. But they are also the game's creepiest enemies.. I hate the way they breathe.

What are you supposed to do exactly? I get to the picture of the house and then nothing happens. There's nothing to click. Just the house and the moving background image.

Half-Life. I was 5 or 6, and I always watched my dad play it. It scared the crap out of me on multiple occasions. Looking back on it now, it isn't as scary, but it's still great.

lol fatal frame doesnt match CONDEMNED for pure scariness

but for me the most scared I have ever been is easily THE CRADLE level in THIEF :deadly shadows

One of the best games that hardly anyone knows about. I wish someone would just remake it for a new console. I'd play it again.

Any of those low bit shooters like Doom and so, just because the image of the enemy was so low bit that you didn't know what the hell just attacked you. It just jumped out of nowhere and its like "WTF is that!"

I thought the Eerie music at times in Eternal Darkness was quite creepy.

I really cruious about Fatal Frame, its seems quite good.

Resident Evil 4 had it moments.

I think I may pick up Eternal Darkness soon...it looked like a great game...

Anyway F.E.A.R. had me freaked out at first, but the second time through I kinda ruined it by doing stupid stuff to Alma...like throwing grenades at her whenever she appeared and meleeing her effigy...

RE4 was a joke, I didn't really think it was scary at all...REmake was a lot creepier though.

Condemned. Hands down. I seriously had to set the controller down and take a break. F.E.A.R was scary too, especially on surroun sound at night, and i'd totally forget the speakers would be up.

Condemned has my vote for sure though.

i agree. it has definitely been one of the games that has caused me the most anxiety while playing it. compared to remake re4 was not scary at all. in re4 you had unlimited saves, a good camera, good shooting controls, and abundant ammunition . Beating remake was pretty stressful.

It was scary!

Not the game, but the second surface mission in Goldeneye where it's dark and you can't see the guys with the Klobbs. Jesus, I was in 7th grade and I couldn't get past that level for a good month.-Dionysus-

Geez, I remember that level... the sky was all red and stuff.
