[QUOTE="drinkerofjuice"]Scores should be removed so that gamers are forced to read the reviews instead of letting their own ignorance fuel their rage. Scores detract people from reading the text that comes along with it. As someone who writes critical pieces, it's annoying to see your "reader" focus less on the informed opinion and more on an arbitrary number. It would remove a lot of headache and frustration. But gamers quite frankly, are idiots in general. So maybe not.seanmcloughlin

I agree that they should be removed. You can't put a number on Quality.People more and more these days just go to the review and see the score and base opinions on that. They hate some reviewers for low scores but if you actually read it the number is always justified. People are becoming less and less likely to read these days which is a shame

It's true. The review explains the score.Seems like a lot of people don't know that.

Again with this. Unbalanced reviews made into percentages is not a 100% great way of finding out what's good or not? Really?

MGS4 raised the bar...

SMG2 was just an upgrade to SMG1
It reminds me of Sunshine and Mario 64 and people seem to forget about SMG1 like it never happened.
For me, Mario 64 is the true 10/10.. not SMG2.
Its great for the Wii, but there are games better in terms of tech, sound, graphics, story than SMG2.

In that case, you can't really compare SMG2 to games on PC, 360 and PS3.

As for fun factor... you can find fun in any game or with friends..ie
LBP2
COD MW3 online
GTA4
BF3 etc.

and the most fun game... Team Fortress 2. That scores 11/10 for fun factor definetly.
Without nostalgia, am sure new Nintendo games would be more like Skyward Sword score of 7.5 and such.

 people are still damage controlling SMG2 getting 10's ?

The game is just legimitely good, nostalgia has almost nothing to do with it. And I find it funny how you bring up MGS4, as if those sections in Shadow Moses weren't blatant nostalgia trips.

Yes you're right. It was "Good" (7) not "Prime" (10) No game should ever get a 10 if the reviewer has a preference anyway.

Not only that, but SMG is recycled. You can have all the fun you wnt but the game, as mentioned, is just "Good" which at GS is apparently a bad thing so eh.

 trying really hard to twist my words. But no, the general public recognizes it as one of the best games this gen. Cry all you want but there's no ignoring it.

Afterall it's not like GS was the only place to give it a 10
