I see a lot of people hating on Sea of Thieves because of it's "graphics', but I want to straighten a few things out
- Art style is not the same thing as graphics. Just because you don't like the art style doesn't mean the graphics are bad. Graphics are things such as resolution, texture quality, 3D models, etc. Art style is what the artists want the game to resemble, such as a 30's Cartoon (Cuphead), or a sci fi space game (Star Citizen). Whether or not a art style is good or not is subjective, whereas whether or not graphics are good or not is objective. An example of a game with bad graphics would be PUBG, an example of a game with an art style that a some people don't like would be Cuphead.
- A game doesn't have to look realistic to have good graphics. Some games aren't supposed to have a realistic art style. some examples are Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet & Clank, Dreams, Rocket League, Banjo & Kazooie, etc. Example of games that do have a realistic art style are HZD, Uncharted, Fallout 4, Gears of War, Etc. (See 1. for explanation of Art style vs Graphics). Note: Realism in a game is mostly based on character model.
So now that we straightened that out, I'll get to the point. we currently have no idea if Sea of Thieves has good graphics or not. We don't know what rez it is, we don't know what the 3D models look like yet, and we don't know what the texture quality is. If people say that Sea of Thieves has a bad art style, that's understandable, because people have different preferences on what art styles they like. However, saying that a game has bad graphics when it hasn't even came out yet is ridiculous.
