Seems like 360 is the shooter/multiplayer console and PS3 has the epic stories.

Doesn't anyone else think so? 360 is more of a multiplayer/online shooter console. Just look at it's upcoming games besides Alan Wake :P.

PS3 has the single player epicness and still has quite a few good multiplayer games.

Wii is simply put....a party system with the exception of Nintendo's titles. I basically have one just for Nintendo's first party games and Monster Hunter 3 :P.

So if you want games like shooters and online you go with 360.
You want epic intense stories? PS3.

Party central? Wii it is.

I really can't argue this, personally. I have all three, and that's pretty much how they get used in my home. Most of the online games and shooters go 360, most of the story/single-player titles go PS3, and the Wii gets played when friends are over and we want some fun multiplayer (Mariokart, House of the Dead: Overkill).

The only exceptions are exclusives (of course), and certain titles where it's known that one version truly stands out over the other (like playing Assassin's Creed on the 360 for fewer visual issues). There is also the occaisional gem on the Wii (i.e. Muramasa, NMH) that begs to be played. :)

That's a very stereotypical view of all three consoles actually.

I tend to buy the 360 versions of shooter games, so I agree with that part. However, I don't think that the PS3 is the "story" system so much, I think the 360 has just as many good story games as the PS3 does. For me, the PS3 is the HD machine, the console I still use outside of gaming. The X360 not so much.

No. All 3 have a great mix of games, you just have to take off your fanboy goggles, and actually look around rather than listening to System Wars. For example the Wii, I fail to see how NMH2, Tastunoku Vs Capcom, Endless Ocean 2 and Silent Hill are party games.

I think we cant define a console using only a few games. 360 also has Mass Effect 2, Banjo N&B, PGR4, Forza3, etc (single player with epic stoeies and non shooter games) and PS3 also has shooters aswell like Resistence2, Killzone2, MAG, etc... (shooters with online)

My point, both consoles have games of every genre, singleplayer epics campaigns, online shooters, etc

This is exactly how a casual gamer might view all the three consoles, stereotypes and all, and it's sad really. All three systems have plenty of variety, and I've gone through my fair share of "epic story lines" on the 360, the most recent being ME2.

Oh, so I get it. If we ignore parts of the 360's library then this statement becomes true.

Just like I could say: The PS3 has no Modern Warfare games besides 1&2.

Okay I just did and there are a load of games that are heavily story based :? Metro 2033, Divinity II, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell conviction, Fable III and arguably Halo Reach (just as focused on its multiplayer, but the campaign will be epic)

A common misconception that has been carried over from last generation is that the consoles are genre-specific. This may have been the case with the PS2 and Xbox, but this generation, both are rather varied and have a healthy amount of just about every genre one can think of.

I agree. The PS3 is like an old wise man telling alot of tales. Do you know the story about the soldier becoming The God of War? Damn old man never finished the story but I heard March 16 he's going to tell the story till the end. Damn old man, I bet he was trying to tell the story in a clever way so any one reads the end of the story will love it.

Not to be rude or start anything but besides Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, I don't really have any games that I really "love" on the Xbox 360 in terms of story. Perhaps Lost Odyssey but I really didn't have much time to play with it. So, yeah, I'd agree somewhat. I think there's still plenty of games on the 360 that are just fun and that's what counts. Yet there's not much that I can say that really have interested me in terms of story or characters. I think your stereotype may be a bit harsh because there are some "intense" singleplayer games on the 360, just maybe not as many or at least not as many as I'd like.

I don't think that was the point he was trying to make, I think if you have a 360 and Gold, it's pretty much second nature to buy all your multiplayer shooters on 360. beit it multi platforn or not.

Come on Finalstar, You know I'm going to keep calling you on it everytime you say it. The 360 has more JRPGs and RPGs in general than the PS3. RPGs have also sold better on the 360 than on the PS3. I found only 1 game released on the PS3 and the 360 that sold more on the PS3. Enchanted Arms (PS3 sold 10k more units. Most likely due to it being a 360 launch game.)

Well, as far as exclusives go, I'd say the 360 is pretty lacking in single-player games. Sure there were some mediocre JRPGs (and one good one: Lost Odyssey), but it does seem to me like a majority of the 360's exclusives are shooters.

For all you who disagree with me. I never said 360 didn't have any good single player games (Mass Effect, Fable, etc...).

I am saying that the PS3 is has more quantity and quality when it comes to epic single player stories. Maybe you would understand me if you took your fanboy goggles off.

I'd like to see what you consider quality on the PS3 before comparing to the 360. I can think of quite a few quality single player games on the 360.

I don't know if they're epic, but these are the single-player, non-shooter, PS3-exclusives I can remember: Infamous Demon's Souls (it had online, but it was also entirely satisfying without playing it online) White Knight Chronicles (see above) Heavy Rain Metal Gear Solid 4 (because I know some lemming would argue if you called Splinter Cell a shooter) Valkyria Chronicles Heavenly Sword God of War 3 (coming) I considered putting Uncharted 1/2 on here, but lemmings would argue that it was a shooter, so it just wasn't worth the trouble. Anyways, I'm sure I'm still missing some exclusives, and that's more variety than the 360 offers in exclusives. I also skipped on exclusives not out yet except for God of War 3, because it comes out next month.

I didn't actually think shooters were excluded, but regardless it's still pretty even, Gears cancels out Uncharted, Halo cancels out Killzone, etc.

As for non shooters, there's Saint's Row, Dead Rising, Lost Odyssey(plus several more JRPGs I haven't played...), Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Kameo, Banjo, Viva Pinata, Viva Pinata 2, Crackdown, Fable 2, Ace Combat,Forza, PGR,etc. It all seems very even to me.

Is the argument. "The PS3 has more epc single player games" Or is it "The PS3 has more exclusive singe player games"

ME, Viva Pinata etc are on the 360 too, they are part of it's library. If the 360 had a library 100% made up of shooters, but it's only exclusive game was a puzzler, would it be a puzzler console?

I didn't actually think shooters were excluded, but regardless it's still pretty even, Gears cancels out Uncharted, Halo cancels out Killzone, etc.

As for non shooters, there's Saint's Row, Dead Rising, Lost Odyssey(plus several more JRPGs I haven't played...), Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Kameo, Banjo, Viva Pinata, Viva Pinata 2, Crackdown, Fable 2, Ace Combat,Forza, PGR,etc. It all seems very even to me.

Dead Rising, Last Remnant (one of those JRPGs you've never played...not very good, by the way), Mass Effect 1/2, and Viva Pinata aren't exclusive. Infamous, Demon's Souls, HeavyRain, and Valkyria Chronices - at the very least - are four games of which I can think that have no 360 alternatives.

All I'm arguing is that the PS3 has more variation in its exclusives than the 360.

:P On this topic, I believe it's kiiinda true, but you can't say it's fully true. I guess, like a couple of you said, it's stereotypical.

Wii it is.

MAG does have an epic story

They both have tons of variation. People seem to only care about the highest rated exclusives, besdies, what's so special about exclusives?

The library as a whole is more important then a few niche exclusives
