"Sssseeeggggaaaaaaa!"

If you ask any fanboy here, there's always going to be at least one problem with another console.  It's now up to Sega to come up with a NEXT-GEN console that will suit everyone's tastes, interests, and pocketbooks.  I give you the Sega Liasion, the NEXT-GEN console that will do exactly just that!

Sega could easily rejoin the console war if they put out a $250 720p capable system that was easy to dev for.  The timing would be perfect right now.  The Dreamcast croaked because it was too early.  Later is better, especially when two of the three competitors are doing so badly.

A Sega console would've been nice if Microsoft didn't jump in... but another console would be oversaturation.

And I apologize in advance for the "jump in" line.

Like I want what little good is left in Sega being made into a console.

Yay for crappy Sonic games! Yay for a console maker that made three decent consoles, only one of which received any sort of major support!

Before I was a lemming I was a Sega fan and I don't want them to make another console. Sega doesn't have the resources to make one in the first place and those resources are better used making games. If anything Sega should be exclusive to 1 console and leave the hardware to the other three. Even if they made a console they would have worse third party support than the dreamcast.

Yes, cause they only make Sonic games right? :|

And maybe you should first instruct yourself on what kind of games their consoles had, to say that they didn't had major third party support, because you obviously haven't a clue.

Think about it, Sega comes out with a new next-gen console, right?  And one of the launch titles?  Shenmue III!

I'm talking about major sales. THe DC sold 10.6 mil in two years, and the Master System sold 24 mil at the same time the NES sold 80. The Genesis owned.

I know the Genesis had major support. Everyone who hated Nintendo flocked there. THe Master System had decent support too.

The DC didn't have EA or Square. And maybe my comment about FP was uncool, but I don't like Sega.

I don't care, I want at least SOME arcade publisher/developer to create a console.

SEGA Sammy

Square-Enix *they own Taito*

Capcom

Konami

One of you guys create a console so I can play shoot-em-ups, figthing games, and rail shooters again.

I mean think about it

Nintendo = Console games/innovation

Microsoft = PC Games

SONY = ......I'm seriously not joking idk

My point is we need SOMEONE to bring us the arcade games to home!

There is only one man on this board that is a bigger Sega fan than I.

If Sega made another console, it would have to be very, very cheap. It would be nearly impossible for them to re-

penetrate the already crowded market with another expensive system. Sega makes some of the best games, but

they lost every single console generation if you go by sales. Realistically, a new Sega console would have minimal

support. The developers are already forming their alliances, and the other three consoles already have rapidly

growing userbases. A company with a history of commercial failures jumping into a generation already well

underway would not be very attractive. Sega is gone as a console manufacturer. Accept that and move on.

Sonic Rush was great as well, and Secret Rings was decent. I realize that Sonic is not even close to

Sega's best franchise, it is their biggest. People don't give Sega nearly enough respect.

I'm thinking all the people at Sega that made it so great back in the day are long since gone.... which is why we arent seeing much from them in the way of quality now.....

but that said, if Sega had the resources I'd love to see Sony fall over and die and Sega return to the floor..... I'd love to see Nintendo & Sega going at it again..... ahh.... nostalgia!

One problem with this suggestiion, it will take atleast 3 years to develop a console so if they wanted to make a new console, it will have to be released with the next generation consoles, not the current ones.

I really don't think sega wanted to be in the console business anymore.  Also if sega tried to jump in they wouldn't be able to release a console for another 2 years (at least), which is pretty risky (they tried it before w/ the Genesis).

As a gamer I don't want a sega console because I like 2k sports games, and since sega owns the liscense on that they' probably only be on the sega system meaning I'd have to buy a 360, a sega, along w/ my PC upkeep meaning I'm not gonna have as much in my experimental games budget.

Their games sell more on Nintendo then both SONY and Microsoft combined, I seriously think they should be a sort of "RAREWARE" or "SQUARESOFT"  *Yes I know that Squaresoft wasn't second-party* to Nintendo.

I think he's implying that those gamers aren't as up to the quality of their games when they released consoles. Well that's obvious since when your compeiting against the market and games are the thing holding your hardware, you tend to make games much better.

I'm not saying their games SUCK *I've heard good things about the first 3 games you listed* I'm just saying they aren't as good as when they made their own consoles.

You surely are forgotting games like  Virtua Fighter IV,Astro Boy: Omega Factor, JSRF, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Macross, Initial D, House of the Dead 4, Shinobi etc. all those games came out after they went out of the console bussiness, and they're all top quality.

People here are just too selective with their opinions and only point out the bad games.  Shenmue on the DC got 6.8 initially, and it's one of their most revered games, but if they put out a 7-8 game nowadays is a flop.

Uhh the Shenmue review here is equal to the Twilight Princess review everyone else gave it a good score. And those games were right after they got done creating consoles, since then they haven't retained as much quality as before.

Partly due to Smilebit gone

and

Partly due to depressive sales

But Shinobi for the PS2 now THAT was a game :)

You are aware Sega doesn't exist anymore? The minds behind it are long gone - and the company is simply a name held by a slot machine company.

Last time I checked (which was just a few seconds ago, according to this post), Sega was still alive and very well.   Check it out for yourself: www.sega.com New Sega games for 2007.

Just as Miyamoto= Nintendo, SEGA= Yu Suzuki, and he's still there along all of their studios that they restructured. Only Naka and Mizuguchi left SEGA, and Naka was failing before he even left.

Care to tell me what minds have left SEGA if you're so knowledgable?

Wikipedia said other wise, oh well that's Wiki for ya.

In Wikipedia it says they folded back to SEGA in July 1, 2004. Check their latest games, they were released last year.

[QUOTE="subrosian"]You are aware Sega doesn't exist anymore? The minds behind it are long gone - and the company is simply a name held by a slot machine company.

Well since it seems that you know alot about SEGA, could they really pull it off?

*Then again the market future is uncertain*

I don't care, I want at least SOME arcade publisher/developer to create a console.

SEGA Sammy

Square-Enix *they own Taito*

Capcom

Konami

One of you guys create a console so I can play shoot-em-ups, figthing games, and rail shooters again.

I mean think about it

Nintendo = Console games/innovation

Microsoft = PC Games

SONY = ......I'm seriously not joking idk

My point is we need SOMEONE to bring us the arcade games to home!

Dencore

well microsoft is bringing alot of the old arcade classics to XBLA such as street fighter and tmnt

I ment NEW arcadaic games. Not old ones. And those games can never be true evolution of the arcade due to memory size and download time, they are forced to be as complex as some high quality online games.

I want to see Street Fighter IV, Radiant Silver Gun (a third spiritual sequel), Raiden IV, Capcom vs. SNK 3, Guardian Heroes 2

Somebody make an arcadic console so these games can have a chance of being created!

The facts I'm seeing is that all of their poor in-house games have come from the same studio: Sonic Team. Not from any other of their studios, who are actually making good games. Full Auto, Sonic Rivals etc. wasn't developed by them, they only published them, same with Condemned and Chromehounds, who are actually good, but not done by them.

All the games that the Wii is getting will come from Sonic Team: Sonic Wii, Nights, and the Rumored Samba de Amigo, all Sonic Team games.

I actually wouldn't mind a Portable Dreamcast. With every title from the DC. I would totally buy one.

No thanks, all sega's consoles were flops.

Hopefully not, if they were great one time, they can be great again, but if Sonic Team keeps flopping, I really couldn't care less. It's not like SEGA didn't put out bad games in the past. But people used to get the best and discard the rest, an habit that actually still works in the real world, just not in game forums, where people care more about bashing bad games, than trying good games.

Yeah I guess your right, Secret Rings did outsell the 360/PS3 versions by a huge margin.

Not made by Sega. It's made by The Creative Assembly. It's published by Sega, but that's it.

SEGA bought Creative Assembly like more than a year ago. They're in-house now.
