[QUOTE="mrxb0x360"]Resident Evil 4>Every other REsident EvilArisShadows
No way. Resident Evil 4 was an amazing game, but it was a terrible Resident Evil. As I stated before, I am much more fond of Resident Evil 2. I really enjoyed Resident Evil 4, but it's not the best Resident Evil, because I don't think of it as a Resident Evil game.
wow dude, we're exactly alike in this regard. i dont consider re4 on re game too
though re3 is my favorite :P
I'm glad to meet someone else with that view, because I am hated by most people for thinking that way abour RE4. People who praise RE4 as the best RE either haven't played the older ones, or they're too young to appreciate their quality. That said, I do want RE5. It doesn't look like an RE game, either, but it looks amazing...much better than even RE4.
The old Resident Evil games are so dated and boring compared to new games, it's almost unbearable.
In the old Resident Evils, the camera angle was horrible, which made the controls feel awkward. There weren't many enemies to fight. It was more about exploration than blowing everything out of your way. Overly difficult puzzles. The save points were too far away from each other. Horrible graphics. (Talking about GameCube ports.) Your character moves like a tank. Limited inventory space. Useless knife. Not enough ammo.
And so on, and so on. Resident Evil 4 fixed all these problems by giving players a behind the back camera view, more shooting, less puzzle solving, more ammo, a useful knife, fast paced action, and a heck of a lot more stuff.
One big reason why people like the old Resident Evils more than Resident Evil 4 is because they think they have to like the original ones more than the newer, improved one. Resident Evil 4 changes the Resident Evil formula drastically, but that's what makes it so darn awesome.
All other Resident Evils, at least in my opinion, suck.
I like the original Resident Evil better. I perfer more puzzles than shooting. Exploring is major because after all its a horror game, and you are exploring dangerous scary places. The save points don't seem much different, or too far placed. The graphics weren't horrible, I thought Resident Evil RM and Zero was good. The controls were okay, but acceptable, I had no trouble moving that tank around (Probably could have work on that tho). Inventory space, you a human being and not a trunk wielding fool. Knife was useless, tho I seen people beating the whole game with just the knife. It could have been redone and bettered, I agree on that. o.O Not enough ammo, survival horror, not action land. You are surviveing a horror on what little you have. They did not suck, they were good, they could have done some reworking here and there, but they lost a good deal of what they were and what some people liked about them.
Well, I guess the original Resident Evils tried to be more realistic and scary. Like in real life, when you lose the last bullet and you are trapped in a room with a zombie... It's scary. Also, I know that people can't hold that many things in real life, but many video games allow you to hold about ten guns at once. The original ones were about exploration, horror, and puzzle solving. Resident Evil 4 is about shooting, shooting, and more shooting. And that's how I like it.
But I do wish it was a bit creepier. There's not nearly enough suspence.
