Of course Linux is PC. I'm not one of those that equate windows with PC. What I meant is that these steambox users play games a bit differently from traditional PC users. They use controllers and sit in front of the TV. They're more alike consolites than hermits, even the userbase I think will consist of mainly consolites trying to get into PC gaming.

More like mustard race wannabe consolites. Want to play PC games but too afraid of kb/m, PC builds and would rather get this device that is ready out of the box, highly curated from this company. Sorta like their own consoles.

It's just a Valve made PC that comes preinstalled with thier OS, but can be easily changed to a Windows Powered PC.

Perfect rationale. My first "Steam Box" will be home built. I'm only calling it a Steam box so the term can pick up traction - like 'sheens'. 

The "steambox" isn't particular to any brand. It's just a variety of PCs with a custom OS, so I don't see the rational for coming up with something other than hermits to use as a label. Valve isn't making a console and never will. 

I'm only posting in here to make a (admittedly futile) attempt to kill this stupid trend before it even starts.

As well as to offer my own suggestion....Here's a great name for them: GAMERS.

Because who cares what you game, as long as you do indeed game.

Well what would you call PC gamers that play on laptops or prebuilt machines?  They're still hermits aren't they?  Why would the Steambox be any different?  The point of it is to bring PC gaming to the living room.  It isn't something completely new, it's just a new way to play what exists.

A labtop is not locked like a console is you can use windows on the steambox if you wanted to not only that you can build one. They will be simila to the PC that you can get from Alienware or Cyberpower who sell console size PC.

PC gamers since it is a PC. It's a Linux PC with a specific form factor.

And for some reason is a notion you have a grudge against. You're an unfortaunate an example of what is wrong with today's gamer.
