I'm still on my first play through, trying to collect everything and getting 100%, I'm at 85% and I spent a good 6 hours of playing already. The only item I've fully collected are the pass keys, which unlocks the gates to the helmet and it unlocked another gamer picture when you get all the parts to your super suit. This game is really good.

what does the helmet do anyway? im still hunting items, but i started a new playthough to do it so i could hit level 20 and have the map fully revealed.
When you stand still bullets just bounces off you and you don't take damage. I haven't tried it with the enemy bosses just yet, I want to see if it can take missiles too.
Whoever has XBL NEEDS to buy this game. It's absolutely amazing. I beat it earlier today (6 hours in. 76% of map revealed. 57% items gathered. still a whole lot of gameplay left). The graphics are far better than i was expecting. I'd say it's on par with Dead Rising which is not bad for a XBLA game. It also have a "proving ground" for added gameplay. Sort of like what the MGS remake did where they give you a whole lot of tasks to complete and time you on your performance. This completely is the next evolution of Super Metroid. It has absolutely everything a side scroller should PLUS a really good story.
