Just passed the $5.8 mill mark. Averaging $45-$50k per hour. Hitting the $6 mill mark seems quite doable with 7 hours left.

I initially thought we were going to finish off at $5.8 mil, but it looks like we'll hit some of that battle system stuff after all. Yu Suzuki is going to have a stream starting at 4:00 PST btw.
@Jag85: when it gets up to Star Citizen $$$ levels come talk to me.
Star Citizen only raised $2 million on Kickstarter. The rest came through PayPal donations during development over the next three years. If Shenmue III goes the PayPal route after the Kickstarter campaign ends, then I can see it raising over $10 million during development. But I don't think it will ever need to raise as much money as Star Citizen.

If we're being honest SC didn't 'need' it either they just kept coming up with stretch goals all the time and people kept giving them money. Suzuki definitely needs more than 5 or 6 mil to make the game he wants to make. At least he won't keep moving the goalposts like SC so he should remain focused and can raise a bit more post KS if he decides to go that route. I don't see he has a choice or you will just get Shenmue 3 Episode One which will piss people right off.

Just a point.
SC actually raised 6.5M in 1 month. It's just that quickly after the KS launched, CIG opened the RSI site, like they always planned to do. After that, most donations switched there. Ense why only 2M came from KS, while the vast majority where the site.
While SC is the biggest crowdfunded project of all time, it's also the game to reach the highest money during a KS/CF campaign. Which honestly only makes SC look even more impressive.
Still, i'm happy S3 is doing great.
Go to vegas, one round of roulette on black/red or odd/even, double money... or not. But the choice could be between doing his $10 million vision or not.

LOL Imaging if Yu Suzuki really doing that? Freaking lost all 6 millions kick starter dollars in 1 shot?

That's when death threats in this industry start becoming a real concern
Broken Age cost over 6 million. Just keep that in mind.
And part 2 reused levels from the first half.
Kickstarter is a scam. The failure of red ash proves people are finally catching on. If Mighty No. 9 doesn't some how end up better than it looks kickstarter dream projects are dead.
no it's not. I guess Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, divinity original sin, tides of numenera, and star citizen all are great. (and the first 3 are released finished 100% games, two of which are being ported to console).
You people who are agianst kickstarter aren't thinking clearly. Have fun with nothing but FPS military shooters, mobas and racers, as that's all you will get as publishers don't want to take risk on AAA games unless it's guaranteed. This is where kickstarter comes in.
4 million got us mighty no. 9. Think about it, how is he going to make a game like shenmue with only 5 million?
You really haven't been paying attention huh? He already mentioned other funding sources. In fact most kickstarters do this. They raise interest and get the rest from venture capitalists who need to know there is interest in the product before they foot the bill.
At the rate it's going, it might make it to the next goal at $6.5M, Battle System Expanded: Ragdoll Reaction. I just reserved a PS4 physical copy. Never backed a kickstarter project before, but I've been wanting a sequel to Shenmue II for many years, so hopefully it turns out good.
Edit: looks like they won't get to $6.5M. Anyway, should be a good game.
If you have pledged less than $60, please consider increasing it so you can get a physical copy of the game. You can then sell the game after it's completed to get your money back.
Your money is more useful to the devs at this point in the development cycle rather than after the game is finished, so please try to increase your pledge if at all possible.
Good thing this KS is with the Sony fans because it would fail miserably anywhere else. I'm still sad about the Eternal Darkness spiritual successor.
This game could be on literally any other platform including PC and it would have reached this point all the same... People putting money into a game like this are not concerned with where it's going to exist, it's the fact that it's going to exist is why it's being funded...
@nyadc: I'm just being realistic.
based on what?
@nyadc: The only KS MS fanboys would back would be COD and we all know about trying a KS with Nintendo.
Oh..just fanboyism. Did you forget the original xbox had shenume 2? no doubt this kickstarter would have gotten alot closer to 10 million if an xbox one version was announced
Pfft. Freaking Shenmuedandies.
Yeah, a bunch of dipshits who didn't bother playing past the first two hours of the game which is where it starts to open up and actually build towards something. Shenmue wasn't a bad game by any means, but the start of the game was admittedly too slow and people lost interest as a result which is why it has this universal negative view from outsiders. They never bothered to actually get into the game or allow it to open up, they just turned it off and wrote it off.
@nyadc: Take a joke man. Just learn to take a freaking joke.
I know your intent was a joke but what those guys were saying was not, they just came off like a bunch of mainstream hugging idiots.
BTW I forgot to mention this, they only did the gameplay video like this because of the exaggerated reactions of the Game Trailer guys. lol.
Through PayPal they'll reach 10 million easily and we can have the shenmue Suzuki wanted to make. Gonna be At Least two to three years of wait, hope Sega release an HD collection next year.
