Should Halo End with Halo Infinite? Since the series is long in the tooth and just not evolving.

Going to have to wait and see what Halo: Infinite is actually like before trying to answer that kind of question first of all.

Personally I still really enjoyed Halo 4 and 5 myself. While they did have some things that I would have liked to have seen them done differently I still thought that they were pretty good games overall.

Anyway I’ll let them decide on if they want to take a break or not from the franchise as I have no knowledge on what kind of ideas they may have on it formulating within their minds. Perhaps they have ideas on where they want to go with it right now, perhaps not. 🤷‍♂️

call of duty released 2003 and has like 30 games, lol halo released in 2001 only has like 6 games and 1 expansion.

I enjoyed Halo 4 and 5 so I’m looking forward to Infinite. If it turns out to be something that I don’t care for then I’ll take a pass but I can’t make a call on it until I actually see what it’ll be like. 343 is still good in my eyes.

Its start of new Halo chapter as release simoltaniously on PC as first proper PC Halo.

I still enjoy playing the last Halo as well as the MCC, and the Halo Wars games, so I am going to say I think the franchise has long future ahead of it.

I thought this game was supposed to be a soft reboot.

At this point this is what halo needs. Just like Doom 2016.

Focus on an awesome Single Player campaign, go back to your roots and make an awesome ARENA based shooter.

Halo is still MS's most important exclusive series, and the entire industry is better off when Halo is setting the bar for FPS games. That hasn't happened in very long time, unfortunately. But it's absolutely not time to end the series; it's time to find the right collection of people to make a killer Halo game. Whether or not that's 343 and Infinite remains to be seen. But MS is not going to sit idly by and watch their most significant IP fade into obscurity. Whether that's a good or a bad thing, nobody knows. But the industry is better when Halo is good.

Halo still is the most prominent face of Xbox right? I can't imagine them killing him off just yet.

Depending on how much they spent with Halo 5, could've still been profitable even if it sat at 5m.

Until Xbox can find another popular mascot, I think Halo will be here. I don't think Kate is on the same level as Marcus let alone Master Chief.

If Infinite flops hard then I guess the series will be in some hiatus but I doubt it.

Many Halo and Xbox fans are probably very thirsty and might secure enough support for the ip.

Halo is pretty iconic in USA and that is where the largest market is.

halo is kinda like quake or doom or unreal or duke nukem or half life, you dont just get the same game reskinned every year like call of duty.

The Halo series, to me, has always been very "meh". It absolutely revolutionized Xbox Live and changed multiplayer forever but: I just find the shooting not very engaging, the story is always mediocre (with Halo 2 being the only one worth talking about). And it just isn't getting better. Put it to bed, and thank it for its contributions.

Also- Halo 3 sucks, guys. Come on. The story and single player are such milktoast FPS (arguably bad) and the shooting has zero impact. I have no idea why so many people think its the peak. At least in Halo 4 the guns have good punch.

" you had people reviving" ? ummmm what? you mean in single player? oh yeah everyone agrees H5 story was not good and is one of the most repetitive entries in the series. H5 MP started out poor and really did fluff the launch (along with most things MS did at launch this past console cycle) That said H5 MP did develop into a competent arena shooter that is worth some play time. As for Halo infinite, well I guess we find out tomorrow.

We should wait to see the game before casting judgement.

I am not holding my breath for Halo: Infinite.

I enjoyed Halo 1 and Halo 2 when they came out, but having played through Reach and Halo 3 with the recent MCC on gamepass, the Halo series is grossly outdated.

It's just....boring.

Halo: Infinite is a reboot, yeah? Let's hope they totally redid the gameplay.

If evolving means throw in a battle royale mode to please the TC... I am not interested. Looking forward to more Halo on PC.

5 was terrible, but I’m not willing to write the franchise off yet. It can be redeemed if Infinite turns out well.

Creatively speaking: Halo should have ended with Halo 0.

Financially speaking: Halo should have ended with Halo 3. The writing was on the wall after CoD 4.

It's outdated because the lowest budget games, the most mediocre of shooters (and the good ones, too, no reason to hold back since Halo 3 is held in such high regard), released in the last five years are more enjoyable than Halo 3.

I'd rather play Sniper Ghost Warrior. I'd rather play Shadow Warrior. I'd rather play Angels Fall First (a game probably almost no one on here knows of).

Not only that, but so many shooters before Halo 3 are better.

Halo 1 came out during a gaming drought. It was a good game, great even, but it's success and following are attributed to the fact it's the only game most xbox owners played for like two years. I know, I was one of those kids. This has carried over into later titles because you have a bunch of boys-turned-men indoctrinated by Halo buying more Halo.

Halo 3? Repeat of 2001; another game drought in terms of first-person shooters on xbox. Bioshock came out...and? AND!?

Meanwhile it's 2020, I'm playing Halo 3 and I'm jumping around like an idiot shooting a gun where it feels like if I pissed on them it would do more damage, and ducking behind a rock to recharge my shields, essentially making me invulnerable without cheating.

BORING!

Halo isn't a big thing anymore, which shocks me as to why lemmings are all hyped about Infinite being a killer app. Literally Days Gone sold more than Halo 5, looool. Let that sink in.

Halo is flagship franchise for Xbox, and its become stale. The same has happened for Gears as well.

Bro A Soft Reboot that runs on the original fat vcr xbox one is not what we need right now we need evolution next gen graphics. Huge open worlds no loading times with the SSD.

Halo still does MP better than 95% of modern MP shooters.

Halo 2 or Halo 3 still have more content than the majority of these new games. Better mechanics and better competitive play.

Halo is a staple as far as a competitive MP game, now if you only care about SP then the conversation is completely different. The Halo Campaigns lack compared to other SP focused titles.

It was also way too easy to get 5 headshots in a row with a BR on someone that was almost halfway across the map from you. Halo is at its best when the combat is happening near you.

Considering Halo has been Xbox's flagship franchise since it existed I really don't think it will ever end.
