shouldn't TVs go into the cost of a console?

All these console fanboys keep saying that pc is expensive like $1500+ but then some sensible guy shows a build for like 500 bucks but then he gets penalized for not including a monitor. If monitors are accounted for a pc's price then shouldnt a tv be included in consoles price?

btw, the arguement that everyone has a tv already doesnt work because well obviously everyone also has a pc especially YOU since you are reading this.

The difference is that most households, particularly thosewith multiple residents like entirefamilies, already have a TV (in fact quite a number of households have several - mine has 4!). Hence the cost of the TV almost isn't considered in the Console.

I have never seen anyone argue that the cost of a gaming PC should include a monitor. Seriously. I am sure someone somewhere has made that argument, but it is by no means common. Just like no one prices in a keyboard and mouse.

It isn't particularly germane. A gaming PC is still considerably more expensive than a console, independent of the monitor/display.

I don't really care. I've recycled my old pc case, monitor, mouse/keyboard, speakers, joystick, dvd burner, and flash card reader from my old pc. Yet, I consider my current pc as a totally new pc.

Personally, I find these console-pc cost debates quite silly. Actually, I find console-pc debates silly, period.

TVs and monitors shouldn't be included at all, if that starts happening don't we have to include everything like Gxgear said, the couches, chairs, desks, and then why not start factoring in the amount of power each thing uses?

Really is that the beest you can come out with and what would you say if i was typing this from my iTouch or w/e but nah really im on my laptop cause its sitting beside my bed but its the only one in the house cause my parents are utter useless with tech they thought their HD telly was a waste cause they dont have it rigged up to HD until i did it lol.

The telly is a necessity on many levels its a source of entertainment and its free to an extent if you dont subscribe to cable you will still have a basic service through Freeview. The PC for a lot of things it really relies on the internet which when you look at a lot of places isnt actually as widespread as one might think on the broadband level.

I'm very well aware of that...have I said otherwise? I brought up consoles having the ability to be hooked up to a monitor because...

1.) Your thread is about TV's being included in console prices. (Which is a no for obvious reasons only you can't seem to grasp.)

2.)You then say everyone you know has at least 1 desktop.

Going by that, everyone you know can hook their console up to their monitor, and if you knew that consoles could be hooked up to a monitor then you wouldn't have made such a thread.

I never did like these double standards of purchasing systems. If everything is being included in a purchase, it should be like this:

For a PC, you need:

  • The parts to put together
  • A chair
  • A chair mat
  • A Monitor
  • A desk
  • Speakers
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard

For a console, you need:

  • A console
  • Extra game remotes
  • An HDTV
  • An Entertainment Center for HDTV
  • 7.1 Surround Sound Speakers
  • Couch with furnishing protection
  • Recliner with furnishing protection
  • Charging kits for remotes
  • Power Surge Extension
  • HDMI Cables

Because it's not like people do not own a TV or monitor to use for the system before they make the purchase.

i made this thread because i've been seeing alot of threads where prices of pcs were debunked because of the absence of a monitor. with the exact logic used by them, i used that to assess the price of a console. that being said, I never said that consoles should always be included with tvs for their price.

What? what is this even based off of? If you have a monitor thats 10 years old you already have a display device that will output at higher resolutions then console games.

That was just flat out ****

And 99.9% of people building a pc already have a monitor.

Except most people who pick up new PCs don't build them...they go out and buy them from a store. So PC fanboys talking about $200 super computers are already way out of touch with what the majority of PC owners do.

However, i admit that including the price of a monitor is sketchy. I recently BOUGHT a new computer and needed a new monitor. As did my parents and in-laws recently. We ALL had to get new monitors. Well, we didn't "have" to, but we all had old, small clunky monitors and wanted new flat screen monitors. However, from this point on if we buy a new PC, we probably won't need a monitor.

Why not factor in the cost of a house as well whilst we're at it? I mean - you can't game outdoors practically! And no they shouldn't. VAST majority of people own a TV, and that purchase wasn't exclusively for use with a console. If you buy a monitor, you use it exclusively with the PC you've brought/built - and unless you show me statistics otherwise, PC ownership is scattered between laptops/desktops/netbooks, etc.

[QUOTE="iliatay"] actually pcs are now more of a necessity than tvs, i mean, on what device are you typing this message? iliatay

Im sorry but do you know anyone that doesnt have a pc? especially those that actually have the money to buy a console and games for it?

actually the person im talkin about has his own flat and rents it and hasnt been fortunateand is on the dole after he got made redundantand still has a PS2 and a 22" standard def telly lol neither does he have a PC he would rather just go down to the library when he wants to check facebook or bebo.Theres other things you need before a PCcause you can access them at places like your local library.

So.....your move hermit.

All these console fanboys keep saying that pc is expensive like $1500+ but then some sensible guy shows a build for like 500 bucks but then he gets penalized for not including a monitor. If monitors are accounted for a pc's price then shouldnt a tv be included in consoles price?

btw, the arguement that everyone has a tv already doesnt work because well obviously everyone also has a pc especially YOU since you are reading this.

iliatay
Well Not many people buy TV's specifically for the console. More like for general use. Also, most people already have TV's before they have the console, imo.

When I see an official Xbox360 HDTV Bundle, then the statement will be true.

no...cuz TV is independent.

You can watch tv progrms from cable or satellite.
