Same batteries as a TV remote? Do you mean AA batteries which happen to be the most commonly used battery everywhere in the world? Not sure what you're trying to get at with "same batteries as a TV remote."

@eoten: I change my tv remote batteries probably every other year. Not a big deal to have to get a few batteries from store. I play PS about 6 hours a day right now. No way would I want to change batteries every week in my PS controller. But my other point was, yes AA batteries are common and used a lot back in the 80's, but there's much better batteries now and every game company has moved on to them except MS. And I'll be fair and say I do wish Sony put a bigger battery in their controller, but it usually last a full gaming session on one charge so not too big of a deal. And I doubt most gamers play for 6 hours straight like I do.

Yeah, but they do go bad. As I have said before, I was getting about 2-3 years out of a cell phone battery before it's toast until the S20 came out.

I really didn't know what you are supposed to do with a PS4/5 controller with a bad battery - it was actually an honest question. I had no idea it was such a hot topic...

The Xbox controllers could use some haptic rumble but, they don't really need a speaker or adaptive triggers.

For all the money companies spend on useless features that never get implemented much outside of first party, like adaptive triggers, trigger rumble, or touchpads, they should put that towards R&Ding some analog sticks that are trash and drift in a year. Dreamcast sticks don't drift, they had it figured out over 20 years ago.

The reason I ask is because I know my battery is always fully charged when I go to play. What if your AA batteries are 75% drained? Are you gonna change them or wait til they die? Because that'd suck to have to change them in the middle of a raid or whatever. But I also wouldn't want to change them at 75% because that'd be a waste. Those are serious questions. Not trying to be a dick.

Not even close. When I was using AA disposables I changed maybe once a month if not longer depending on how many gaming sessions I had. I switched over to eneloop so when they die I walk over to my charging station, grab 2 freshly charged ones and swap. They last almost as long as my disposables. Wish I could say the same for my PS5/PS4 controllers though. I've had to purchase a 2nd controller on both just because they didn't/don't last long enough for those marathon sessions.

What if they're at 75%?? What do I do??? I change them soon as they're dead. Serious question??????? Much easier for me to swap than to plug in my controller and wait for it to charge or tether it and pretend I'm back on the PS1. Unfortunately I had to purchase a 2nd controller just to avoid that situation but that was $70 +tax expense I didn't want. Also I don't play multiplayer games on my consoles, I use my PC for everything online related. Having to swap out mid game isn't a problem for me but it wouldn't be much different for the PS since you'd have to pause to swap controllers or plug it in. Takes the same amount of time as swapping out batteries.
