Did you miss the thread or something? Vanilla Crysis doesn't compare to modded Crysis. Also, Crysis 2 is a lot more advanced and a lot more optimized. I would say the jump is preety far.graphics have not gone anywhere since crysis

I don't think 500-550 dollars (with os) as to much money. you can actually scale up and down from there as well.

At least you admit that is what happened. Most here wouldn't.

While I prefer vanilla versions of games and mods shouldn't count overall for fairness, you have to admit mods even push graphics too. GTA4 would had never gotten where it was without mods, and Crysis of course.Did you miss the thread or something? Vanilla Crysis doesn't compare to modded Crysis. If you gonna get a pc you got to do it right.especially if you a newb and you want to be playing the total war games or starcraft with good frame rate, minimumslowdown, epic sound and good detail on your little army all on a multi screen set-up,or just don't bother.
so i do know what i'm saying.Apparently that would be a no. You say you can't build a good computer for that, but in reality you can. Ahhh UK, explains a lot. NVMskilfulgary

LOL... who decides if someone is "doing it right?" What kind of statement is that? Did you just set some kinda rule on what a person must do on pc? You know.. the platform that is open ended that gives the opportunity to do anything they want? Some randy comments there.

Even gaming at relatively better performance (which is relatively cheap), it gives you access to hundreds of exclusives. PC is not solely about performance.

i get what pc's are about you know but for the purpose of gaming,to me it has to be significantly better than a console or why bother? To alot of people it is significantly better. I own ps3 and xbox360 also and PC still gets 70% of my gaming time atleast it seems. When some good exclusives like Forza3, Heavy Rain, Uncharted come out for consoles then I get em and play back on my consoles a good deal, but mostly I have alot more fun on my PC of all my systems atm. To me the experience is on a whole new level, dont get me wrong I have enjoyed consoles my whole life, but PC just keeps me coming back time and time again, where as consoles it hot and cold for me. Everyone has there own opinion and experience.

okay, that is perfectly reasonable but i don't want a pc unless it can do rts properly, with good sound...etc. $200 for a 360 and $500 for pc....okay. question is will a $500 pc have $300 worth of better graphics and gameplay than a 360?[QUOTE="lundy86_4"][QUOTE="skilfulgary"]i get what pc's are about you know but for the purpose of gaming,to me it has to be significantly better than a console or why bother?skilfulgary

There's no point on gaming on the PC just for the sake of it. If you are going to go PC gaming, then it makes sense to build a PC that you are happy with, that performs well in the games you want with a superiority over the consoles which is obvious to the naked eye. A nice medium pc might not be satisfactory if it requires a new GPU in a years time. You want to build a PC that will play all new games at high settings for the next 4 years if possible, and I would think that you need to be prepared to spend toward $800 for that. No point imo in making a pc that plays well for 2012 only. To encourage starter PC gamers, its best i think to advise them of the realities of starting up from scratch rather than upgrading which is different. The costs are far lower.

How on Earth would you define what is $300 better in graphics. What ridiculous reasoning.
The hardware is there. But the industry is all about console orientation now, with games being created with consoles on mind. You won't find that many pc centric games that push boundries (like HL2 did) for quite a while now.
People don't seem to understand that good hardware is nothing without a development team that can utilize it well. You also rarely get a company building a game engine to use the full power of the latest hardware because it's just going to be pointless. I'd say though that Witcher 2 comes close.
Pictures and videos don't give a good impression of actually sitting at a good PC and playing the game first hand.

i don't think a $500 pc would have sufficiently better gaming capabilities than a 360 as to justify the extra $300 one would have to pay.[QUOTE="lundy86_4"][QUOTE="wis3boi"]video cards that came out in 2006 blow away the 360 and ps3 in performance and visuals, and you cant even buy those cards any more.
