[QUOTE="enterawesome"][QUOTE="heretrix"]I'm not saying it is. I never made that assumption. But you are delusional if you read that Wiki page and have seen all of the different MGS media and will still walk away and say it isn't being milked. There is no set time to determine if a product is being milked. There is only the quantity of product that they will try to entice you to pay for.
Of course its being milked, but not as bad as six games a year. What part of "I'm not saying it is" do you not understand, my good fellow?I understand that part, I don't understand your point? Are your trying to tell us other companies milk franchises? If so, thats common knowledge. Activison is just way worse about it. Thats why we hate them. Now that's some sweet, sweet badass revenge.;)Come to think of it, that would be an awesome premise for an RPG...[QUOTE="Indie_Hitman"]They killed my mother, my father, my brother, my sister, my grandfather, my grandmother, my uncle louie, my uncle david, my auntie gwen, my auntie tina, my cat, they burned down my village, my home, my past, my cat.....but now its payback- im never buying their products again..heretrix

Activsion just makes the same game over and over again with no or little improvements. Examples: Guitar Hero, Call of Duty. They don't try to make a sequel better than the previous game, they just want to cash in on the popularity as much as possible.

I don't hate call of duty. I just hate the fact that Activision forces IW and Treyarch to make those games as fast as possible. Think of the quality those devs could produce if they would just be given the time. A lot of people see Call of Duty 4 as a great game but the truth is it is nowhere near what the first Call of Duty was.
Still looking forward to Wolfenstein and Blizzard games though :).
I'm against activision because
1 They are suing double fine.
2 They wanted to make Brutal legend a GH game.
3 They are attempting to raise the game prices.
4 They will abuse their position (threatening to stop PS3 support etc.) to improve their position regardless of consumers.
5 Their plans for horrendous ingame advertising.
6 They create games to exploit them on a yearly basis, a lot of talent gone to waste.
7 Their incredibly arrogant mindset.
I hate them because they have milked the hell out of Guitar Hero and other licenses. It used to be people thought the games were cool, now the reactions are like: "Oh god, there is Another one?" They have become more greedy than EA. Now they are getting into this shtick where they think every game has to come with a periph so they can justify charging over 100$ for it. And how much you wanna bet that those periphs cost maybe 10$ worth of plastic to make.
I dont know about other people, but I vote with my wallet. Activision is not getting anymore of my money.
Kungfukitten pretty much said the final word on everything else.

Business isn't about innovation. What?
Innovation is crucial to any successful business.
Adapt or perish!!
Most of the people who are complaining about MW2 aren't buying it or are buying it used, also the people who do know how greedy Activision and about Activision's negative effect on the gaming industry are the minority, and probably less than 5% of gamers. Why would anyone hate Activision for doing what most companies do? You know what the biggest problem is this gen? The complaining. Nobody does anything about the problem they just run to message boards and complain, but will still spend the money anyway.
After all, how could you miss out on Call of Guitar Hero on Duty 11 with the Tank peripheral?
Don't waste your energy hating Activision, just don't buy their products when they offend your sensiblities. They run a business. They are supposed to try and make money off of you.
I will admit though, Bobby K. is a bit of a: fill in deragatory term here.

There may not be alot of innovation of the kind posters on SW would like to see,but if I was an Activision shareholder then I would be ecstatic about the "innovations" the CEO has brought about lol.

Yeah, it just that about 80% of people getting MW2 never visit gaming websites so they would never know about this whole fiasco. Even if they do find out they probably won't care about buying it and hurting the games industry, I really just don't see all the things Activision has done actually lowering their sales a significant amount because majority of people buying MW2 will ever know nor care about this whole Activision milking fiasco. Why would anyone hate Activision for doing what most companies do? [QUOTE="heretrix"]It's milked pretty much the same way any popular franchise is.
Hungry_Jello
They've made four games in a period of about 10 years... how is that milked?
I think youre forgetting about the remake for GC, the Metal Gear Solid 3 substistence, MGS 2 Substance, MGS Essential Trilogy, MGS PSP, The document of MGS 2, normal MGS 2, and etc. Shall I go on?
 I totally forgot about all those, sorry. No it just so happens that when it comes to innovation Activision specialize in the "milking the hell out of their franchises and customers" variety. There may not be alot of innovation of the kind posters on SW would like to see,but if I was an Activision shareholder then I would be ecstatic about the "innovations" the CEO has brought about lol.stvee101
Exactly, that's what it's all about really. Selling immense amounts of copies, making shareholders happy. The customers seem to be happy too looking at their sales.
I disagree with their strategy as well, but there's not much you can do against a mass market:P I buy "their" games as long as they're good.
I dislike Rhythm games with a passion, so I'm not really a GH supporter anyway.

I gravely disapprove of how they handled Brutal Legend and I'm not exactly happy about the MW2 price hike. The one game in Activision's lineup I was intending to purchase. I still am, but now I'll wait for a used copy.
I'm not a fan of how they're handling the Guitar Hero franchise either, but they can keep running that franchise into the ground for all I care, as long as Rock Band is still out there. I think that whole sentence accidentally rhymed. Bear.

Yeah, that's why people are calling them the new EA. :|There is nothing innovative about anything they do.It's pure old school stuff.
signs. Activision milks franchises and doesn't come up with anything new. They overcharge for pieces of plastic. They turned down publishing Ghostbusters, WET, and Brutal Legend which are more original than anything else they have and then they had the nerve to sue EA over a game they dumped bc they realized that the game would sell tons for EA. Activision has the nerve to bluff Sony. Someone please free IW from the grasps of Activision.
/sign
My reason being the recent talk about the increase in Game prices. If they pull that crap and succeed we'll see other publishers do the same.
Signed for raising the price on Modern Warfare 2, and overall disgracing the series good name. Signed for making starcraft 2 episodic content despite numerous delays. Signed for removing LAN in starcraft 2, forcing us to play through an unstable online service. Signed for giving incompetent developers (treyarch) large important development tasks (COD3, 5 and COD4 Wii). Signed for sueing developers because activision didn't read the contract to begin with. Signed for Milking franchises like Guitar Hero to the extreme, as well as making way too many movie based games.
Let's see here...
-attempt to sue Double Fine over Brutal Legend
-extreme milkage of 3 major franchises
-flooding the gaming market with plastic peripherals
-aren't interested in games that they can't 'exploit' on an annual basis
-Bobby Kotick is a ****
Probably some more I could think of but those are more than enough reasons for me.

So then save your money and move on. If what you are essentially saying is that the people who buy Activisions products are thick or inferior to yourself than you have much to learn. People want it, they provide it period. If you don't like that, sucks to be you.
Hate will probably send a much better message to them instead of being a suckup to them and being milked dry. Not buying there products will send a better message and it'll hurt them where it matters the most for a company, in there bank accounts. Hating Activision but saying "I'm only buying MW2 from them" doesn't send them a message besides being able to get your money anyway they want. These types of consumers are the ones that allow them to do as they please.
