Wasn't Sniper Elite V2 also released this year?

I've been burned pretty badly with SH ever since Team Silent left (well, I have mixed feelings for SM), but like an abused spouse, I'll come back for more.
Game needs to drop in price though, it's always much too high whenever I come across it in stores.

I got it for $17 brand new online. Honestly I could have given $60 for it and I wouldn't have been disappointed with my investment. This is the best game the franchise has seen since SH3. Part of the reason it's so good is because it takes the SH2 approach and tells a completely original story. It doesn't shoehorn in unnecessary fan service crap (like how Pyramid Head was forced into Homecoming for no rhyme or reason). Eveything in this game exists for the sole purpose of the story and protagonist (who is great btw). It's Silent Hill made fresh again. Also I love how you can actually explore the entire town now, and the excellent art style of the environments, hidden secrets, and town mythos make exploration a blast. Game rules.
I liked it until i hit the town part... the town exploration sucked... you would get overun by enemies and the fighting sucked and running sucked... in sh2 I could explore, take out a few enemies and take in the atmosphere... not in downpour because there is little time to even scope out the town before the rain comes and monsters are on you. Granted the sense of urgency is there, but it was too much.. to the point I lost interest. If the game kept the same pacing as it did before the town througout the game, I would of kept playing it. I since traded it in. I may buy it again if I can find i for under $30.[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"]

Shattered Memories is a pretty sweet game. It's the one in which you don't want the fans' opinion lol.
Silent Hill fans come right behind Sonic fans as the most confused group ever. Every Silent Hill game has to be like Silent Hill 2. The trouble is, nothing can be Silent Hill 2, because it's obviously a one-and-done. Therefore each new Silent Hill is automatically inferior. Yet they yearn for a new Silent Hill every year, and each time one is announced, they moan like a dead horse is being beat. And each of these sequels is rated on a scale of one to Silent Hill 2: one being a game that actually plays well in the modern age, and Silent Hill 2 being the actual, f*cking Silent Hill 2 released in 2001 for the PS2.
It's as if the Silent Hill fans have trapped the Silent Hill franchise in its own, little prison town of Silent Hill. It's Silent Hillception, yo.

That's true to an extent, but I think you're giving SH2 a bit too much credit. The first three games as a whole are what most Silent Hill fans consider to be the bar that all others must be judged by. And there's plenty of us, myself included, who consider SH3 to be the best entry. Twin Perfect considers it to be the best and those guys are basically the all knowing masters when it comes to all things Silent Hill. :P
I just watched their analysis of the HD collection. I feel so sorry for the people who've never actually played Silent Hill before and had to play that piece of s*it.
The hd collection was fine on the Ps3 version after the patch.. All fog was there and sounds were fine. You even got to choose between original vo and new... now the 360 version never got a patch because Konami didn't want to pay the ridiculous fee that MS charges for patches, and got the brunt of the problems. I own 3 sets of the ps2 era games... own 2 and 3 on PS2, PC, and PS3 hd col. and i would rather play the ps3 ones now..as ps2 games look like arse on a lcd... full of smeary ghosting...ewwww.(will only play ps2 games if thats the only version). And I have SH1 on my PSP, Ps3 and vita... that game still holds up too. Shattered memories i liked but never finished. Origins was good at first, but couldn't stand the breaking weapons. Homecoming I actually liked, unlike most people. SH2 is still the best imo.I like when this kid has some left over money from his welfare check and actually buys a game pretends its GOTY.Grawse:lol: So mean.
Wasnt everyone calling it a flop?killerflopBecause it didn't make that many improvements or changes...
Silent hill Downpour was horrendous in its enemy design, story and game mechanics. The whole dark world was also crap with the chasing blob of red cool aid.
Konami should really find developers with knowledge of the survival horror genre. Hell, they can just let Project Siren.do the next SH game and it will be at least decent and not a complete let down like SH:SM, SH5 and SH downpour (will never happen)

Fine? Hardly. Watch the video I linked earlier. Yes, it's two hours long because the collection is just that bad.
And you can only choose between new and old VO with Silent Hill 2.
wow, I didn't know the port was THAT bad, even after the patch it's still terrible

I'm not gonna watch the video, so what exactly is bad?even after the patch: the game was slowed down, there are missing textures, there are wrong textures in the game (in one character an eye was replaced with a tooth), the fog is still mostly missing and mostly glitchy and the game is still prone to freezing
oh and the cutscenes are stretched and in some cases are both stretched and cropped to the point of obscuring important details
Now is the time to be checking this game out folks! Halloween is nearly here and the price is low. Don't cheat yourselves out of a badass experience!

Wow, and I thought the Resident Evil 4 HD port was bad. This is just awful.[QUOTE="rilpas"][QUOTE="Michael0134567"] I'm not gonna watch the video, so what exactly is bad?Michael0134567

Wow, and I thought the Resident Evil 4 HD port was bad. This is just awful. That wasn't bad either...are you people that picky? I don't get it. I thought both were superior to playing a ps2 game on a hd lcd.. The gameplay is intact and defiantly worth it, so whats the problem? yeah, after buying the Prince of Persia trilogy for the PS3, I am VERY wary of the supposed superior HD collections and from what I've seen on these videos, even after the patch, the silent hill collection sucks
[QUOTE="tryagainlater"]
Still waiting for the patch before I go out and buy it.

They patched the 360 version the other day. PS3 patch is coming in a few weeks.
Sweet, good to hear. I'll get it soon then.Agreed. :DNow is the time to be checking this game out folks! Halloween is nearly here and the price is low. Don't cheat yourselves out of a badass experience!

If you don't watch these videos and just play to have fun.. i see no issue. Yeah, the port is bad. They did a pretty lazy job with it. It looks noticeably worse than it originally did and it doesn't even sound as good as the PS2 version. I've also noticed random slowdown and a few audio glitches I never encountered before on previous versions. Also, the cutscenes for Separate Ways are really blurry. I am not picky. I'd much rather play the PS2 version over the "HD" version.even after the patch: the game was slowed down, there are missing textures, there are wrong textures in the game (in one character an eye was replaced with a tooth), the fog is still mostly missing and mostly glitchy and the game is still prone to freezing

Ahh, same stupid sh*t thread from this moron. Get some new material, man.

Hey it's my favorite stalker. Hows it goin, ya nut? I notice you've been getting lazy. Find somebody else to harrass?
And about time you grew a pair. I remember you use to throw a sh*t fit if I so much as called you ignorant. You were quite the b*tch back in the day.

how rude.
Nah, he's much less annoying this way. He used to report me for calling him ignorant and other such minor insults, and then would cry about how insensitive I was.
It was embarassing.

Either you didn't watch the video or you're out of your god damned mind. The Silent Hill HD Collection is a complete f*cking mess. It's like screwed up Beta versions of the original PS2 classics.
The funniest part is that it actually looks WORSE than it's PS2 counterparts, so the fact that it's in "HD" doesn't amount to jack.
