I just played KZ2 online for the first time and I support GS's decision. I still find the controls clunky as hell, almost like maneuvering a tank, and in some maps the game can turn into a HUGE cluster***k. However, the maps were full of variety, the choke points provided some really engaging battles and the gameplay is still as visceral in MP as it was in SP. I also liked how the game allows for teamwork even when nobody has a mic. Overall, it's probably the most fun I've had with a console shooter in a while.

i think its pretty inovative gameplay switchin on the fly tbh is one of the niftiest things i have seen and it shakes up the game :P its pretty awesome imo.

Altho some tweaking could be made to KZ3 to make it much more rounded.

I haven't played it but the competition was pretty weak imo so can't really say I disagree either.

I disagree. Gears 2 > Killzone 2 multiplayer. I dont give a crap what year your in.

Wow not even close, Gears 2 sucks so hard, the gameplay is soo limited, maps are so awfull, the power weapons are mega lame, plus it has a ton of tech probs. Gears is really really awfull imo.

agreed. bullet lag is one of the many major problems that gears 2 has.....as well as over 20+ glitches such as unlimited ammo, going through walls, crab walking, explosive chainsaw, etc etc). Also the damn host......host gets stronger armor and more powerful weapons. what bull crap!

The bullet lag and the host advantage is a result of the server side hit detection that the game uses. Now, im no expert on this but from what I understand, the hit detection goes something like this: - Server side Image a gunfight between two players (A and B, where C is somewhere else and is host). When A fires at B, the game sends information to the host such as where he/she fired, what gun and when he/she fired. The host confirms this info and then the bullets come out of A's gun (the firing action itself is delayed) -Client side Again we use A, B and C. This time when A fires at B, the hit detection/calculations are all performed at A's console. A then sends info to the host that consists of "I shot B at this time with this weapon". The host then confirms this information and the damage is inflicted on B (the effect of the shot is delayed) This may be getting a bit off topic so I'll keep this brief: heavily cover based games do not work very well with client side hit detection. The most common situation is you getting your head blown off after you take cover (but on the your killers screen, you didn't quite make it back into cover because he/she was lagging). So you cannot really complain about the bullet lag and host advantage since they are inherit parts of the game. I would assume most of those glitches have been fixed, but then again I don't play gears all that often (what bugs me about that game is the non-functioning region filter). Also, the maps are not bad and the suit the purpose of the game which is close combat. Perhaps Gears just isn't the game for you... On topic however, I think KZ2 deserved the award!

VendettaRed07

well killzones online actually works.. so theres a big advantage it has

Clearly, the same people that break games like gears and CoD aren't playing Killzone 2... as a matter of fact... is there ANYONE still playing killzone 2? I have come to the realization that if you have no player base, than your online will never be broken. You look at the largest online communities, they ALL have major issues weeks after release while smaller online community games seem to go relatively glitch free (or are already to plagued with issues that NO ONE wants to continue playing)

I bet I can go into a game of Gears right now, and play glitch free because the community has subsided so much.

The multiplayer did have incredible design production values, and great balance within the Maps and the game modes.

It felt rather basic however, it really didn't have too much depth to it tbh, the gunplay was great though, and made for a hell of a time in multiplayer, but it really didn't involve too much teamwork or coordination. (Having been in a few tournaments myself).

Overall solid multiplayer.

That is such a flawed logic. While I may admit that KZ2 online players has dropped since the release of UC2 (which I think is a very close contender to best MP experience), could it not just that be KZ2 has been developed flawlessly, afterall, it did get 3-4 years development time. It's like saying a Fiat Panda is the safest car in the world because no1 has crashed, but in fact, its rather that the Fiat Panda is too slow to be crashed.
