Ooooh yes indeed! Wonder how it will compare with the Wii/360 controller now...

Quote:

God of War 2 Launch Event Liveblog

In his blog he confirmed that God of War 3 is coming to PS3, that it will feature rumble support and 1080p resolution, and that if might even include co-op! He also confirmed some cool details on God of War for PSP -- "It is epic. It is big. There are hooks in the PSP story that I actually wrote from one of my first stories for God of War 2, so there are a lot of elements -- we're going to keep connecting all this stuff."

Here's some more interesting info regarding rumble and Sony. A little old but a nice add to this thread.

Quote:

Dave Karakker, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications for Sony Computer Entertainment America told 1UP the following regarding the reunification of Sony and Immersion: "We are very pleased to have reached a cooperative agreement with Immersion regarding the use of its advanced vibration technology (haptics technology). We look forward to working closely with them as we explore new and innovative ways to utilize this technology in PlayStation products."

Rumors are suggesting that Sony will include Immersions "Next-Gen" rumble technology into the SIXAXIS. This is only a rumor though. Not confirmed.

Quote:

In a private demonstration, GamePro has experienced Immersion's next-generation force-feedback controller technology first hand. The new technology allows for a far greater range and strength of "rumbling

So, in Sony's theory, PS3 became "the last gen"....Since the rumble is last gen. It all makes sense now. No wonder games look better on xbox 360 than ps3.

Well, I own two SIXAXIS controllers and I have no problem with this announcement. I think it's great that they're giving a lot of PS3 owners what they want and that's all that matters. Btw, God of War 3 in 1080p, WOW!

Prior to Sony and Immersion setting their suit, there was no chance of rumble in the PS3 pad. How is Sony screwing anyone?

considering that they will have to license rumble for every ps3 they sell now (if they new ones come with rumble controllers) they're unlikely to lower the price.

Great, so they'll use less visual effects to make it run in 1080P.

Just make it in 720P with more visula effect or higher frame rate.

1080P is just a waste if you ask me.

This link looks VERY "unofficial".

Anyways, I thought ps3 owners were happy that Sony dropped the rumble for motion sensing?  Now all of a sudden they want it back?

It does make sense because in the past, Sony has been quite vocal about rumble being a "last generation feature".

They also claimed MotorStorm, Resistance, and others to run in 1080p.  But then again, if anyone can tap out the PS3, it's gonna be the guys behind GoW.

A lot of PS3 owners always wanted rumble. I'm sure Sony would have added rumble to the SIXAXIS if it wasn't for the Immersion lawsuit. Now that the lawsuilt has been settled, they're giving PS3 owners what they want. I can't speak for every PS3 owner but I've always loved rumble and there might be a chance of Sony/Immersion incorporating "next-gen" rumble to the SIXAXIS.

I'm sure Phil Harrison made that statement. He does not speak for every PS3 owner, developer and other folks @ Sony. Could have just been his personal opinion ya know?

Remember when Sony said this?
"Pursuant to the introduction of this new six-axis sensing system, the vibration
feature that is currently available on DUALSHOCK® and DUALSHOCK®2 controllers for
PlayStation and PlayStation®2, will be removed from the new PS3 controller as vibration
itself interferes with information detected by the sensor."

lol, any one who believed that BS  is living in a dream world. It was always about their legal battle over patent rights with Immersion, they just made up the above statement to pull the wool over the eyes of loyal Play station consumers.

He's a Sony executive (I believe in charge of Third Party Relations, meaning PR) When he speaks, it doesn't matter if everyone in Sony agrees with him or not, his words are percieved as the thoughts of the entire company by the public.

It's only natural that some would disagree with him, but after making that statement and now re-incorporating the "last generation feature" they were so vocal about just makes them look bad.

Yeah, I can imagine some Sony engineer writing a report on the possible problems of integrating motion sensing and rumble, but the wii-remote pretty much kills that argument.

Promises, promises, promises, how many of them have we heard since Sony unveiled the PS3. If Sony started spending more money on getting these things out on the market than paying their promotions team to promise everyone the world, you'd probably have a computer woth the $600 you paid for it.

A Sony exec said at one point that rumble was "last gen". I think the point he is trying to make is that according to the Sony exec's logic, their controller is now last gen.

I just remembered reading about an IGN intereview with Phil. They asked him why he told folks that rumble would interfere with the motion sensing and he said it was because of the lawsuit. Who knows for sure.

Phil harrison said that rumble was last gen only because Sony was involved in a lawsuilt with Immersion. It's not like he was going to hype rumble when he knew that Sony could not add the feature. Now that the lawsuilt was settled, he's giving a lot of PS3 owners what they've always wanted. Nothing wrong with Sony listening to it's fans.

Not all Sony fans thought that rumble was last gen. A lot of PS3 owners have always wanted rumble and I'm sure Sony would have included the feature if it was not for their lawsuilt with Immersion. Simple as that.

Stop me if I'm wrong but isn't this thread about Sony now saying that rumble is on it's way. Like when they said PS3 was on it's way soon, more than a year ago and when they said PS3 will be fully backwards compatible (it's not in Europe). or when they said PSH will have everything Live has but better, as it stands it's know where near it. Or when they said it will have better graphics than 360 but all the ports are worse. Just saying they promise a hell of a lot and I haven't seen any of it yet. Oh yeah I am a 360 fan boy I'm not denying it.

hard or easy, that is sony milking more $$$ out of your pocket that you don't have after dumping $600 on the system. positive thing about having useless non-rumble sixaxis' ...... you can boomerang them.

So when microsoft supposely add HDMI, it's milking but when Sony puts back rumble, it's, "giving what ps3 owners want?" jiggawho2006

Sony is changing a controller, you can go out and by a second or third controller just for the rumble, NO PROBLEM. But M$ is making a whole new console, what if u need HDMI you have to go spend 500 on a new 360.

If you really NEEDED hdmi you shouldn't have bought a 360 in the first place...

The problem is, with or without HDMI, it does NOT change the game play. But once again, you worship sony, let me help you see the light. RUMBLE CHANGES THE GAME PLAY. can you get that through your thick head?

Sony is not milking anyone because they're not forcing folks to buy the SIXAXIS rumble controller. All they're doing is giving fans options. You either want the SIXAXIS with rumble or you don't. Heck, if I didn't like the SIXAXIS, I could use my Logitech Rumblepad 2 for the PC. It works like a charm!
