I've never personally typed any negativity towards the new version of the 360. I don't think Microsoft is milking fans at all. Options are always good for fans. Though, it does suck knowing that your current 360 model has been replaced. I own a 360 and I'm kind of upset that I did not wait for the new version w/hdmi and the larger hard drive.

You wouldn't even notice the differance between HDMI and the component cables or VEGA, just like there's not a visable difference in 1080p 720p. it's all a big promotion pitch.

Larger HDD drive would be nice though but I suppose we could buy one separately

I have my PS3 connected to my HDTV using both HDMI and component. Although the difference is not huge, I DO see a difference. Some people can't tell the difference which is fine. I've never seen a 1080p HDTV in action (My HDTV only does 720p/1080i) so I can't comment on that.

because its so hard buying a new controller....

hard or easy, that is sony milking more $$$ out of your pocket that you don't have after dumping $600 on the system. positive thing about having useless non-rumble sixaxis' ...... you can boomerang them.

Gamestop will take them when I trade them in for the new ones.I have no problem with this.

Ooooh yes indeed! Wonder how it will compare with the Wii/360 controller now...

Did Barlog just confirm that God of War 3 will be in 1080p with Sixaxis and VIBRATION functions on PS3? He sure did! Whoa! Well, technically he didn't confirm GOW3, but he confirmed Sixaxis and vibration for the future of God of War.

No confirmation in that entire article. I'm not seeing any quotes from Barlog where he said anything about rumble at all. Still just wild speculation and day dreaming.

But they said motion control + rumble was technically impossible - i do not know what to believe now ...Final-Darkness
It may still be, although that sounds really stupid. I'm betting that they don't release a new rumble controller at all. Considering the short battery life of the current Sixaxis, adding rumble would be devistating to it. If anything they need to add a swapable battery pack like the 360 has. I hate having to plug in my Sixaxis mid game with the stupid short cable they provided. Swapable batteries are a pretty basic concept that they seem to have totally ignored for whatever reason.

I seriously doubt Sony settled their lawsuit with Immersion and even made a cooperative agreement with Immersion regarding the use of its advanced vibration technology for no reason...

Quote:

Dave Karakker, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications for Sony Computer Entertainment America told 1UP the following regarding the reunification of Sony and Immersion: "We are very pleased to have reached a cooperative agreement with Immersion regarding the use of its advanced vibration technology (haptics technology). We look forward to working closely with them as we explore new and innovative ways to utilize this technology in PlayStation products."

Everyone knows? How so exactly? Just because they settled a suit with Immersion doesn't mean that they will make rumble available.

Prior to Sony and Immersion setting their suit, there was no chance of rumble in the PS3 pad. How is Sony screwing anyone?

I thought they didn't want it because of the precious tilt sensing.

The difference between 720p and 1080i is only in movement because progressive scan projects line lines quicker than interlaced. DaddyDC650 I must admit I haven't had the chance to compare component to HDMI side by side so there may well be a difference

What if any early adopter got 4 sixaxis controllers? Wouldn't you be at least a little peeved by this news? Remember Sony calling rumble last-gen? The least they could have done was admit that rumble was a important and that they would try to make a rumbe sixaxis after they settled their suit with Immersion. But no, instead they hyped their 10 year old tilt technology. Was that so hard to ask?

Great, so they'll use less visual effects to make it run in 1080P.

Just make it in 720P with more visula effect or higher frame rate.

1080P is just a waste if you ask me.

No one asked you, but thanks for your uninformed opinion, anyway.

I'd like to remind you that God of War 2 is 480p, widescreen, 60fps and absoultely gorgeous on a SEVEN year old console. They won't have any problems making God of War 3 look beautiful in 1080p on the PS3.

That is a pretty canned PR statement after a somewhat publich lawsuit. Of course he would say something like that. Even so, he does NOT say anything about what Playstation product. People are "assuming" it would be the Sixaxis. It may very well by a new DDR vibrating dance pad, or a "Let the PS3 cook your burger" vibrating spatula or something (sorry for the grill joke, it's my first). Most LIKELY, it'd be just a new vibrating driving wheel.....

1080p does take quite a bit more horsepower to generate then 720p. Either way it doesn't really matter. Both would look really amazing compared to God of War 2, which looks sick btw.

Rrrrrrright.....no. It's pretty obvious that Sony will release controllers with rumble. Are you in denial or something? Why would Sony reach a multi-million dollar agreement with Immersion just so they can release a vibrating dance pad or a vibrating driving wheel? C'mon, be real.

I personally don't really care if they bring rumble back or not. It was never important to ME. But I do however love the hater attitudes. You bash Sony because they didn't include rumble for the PS3, now that they are probably going to bring it back, you still somehow bash them. If it's because of the "hypocrasy" of the "I feel that rumble is a last-gen feature" by Harrison, you need to look at yourselves for not praising Sony in that they want to bring it back now that the lawsuit with Immersion is settled. What did you expect Harrison to say? Rumble is great, but sorry we can't include it in the PS3, go buy the other consoles instead so that you can get rumble from them? Whatever, haters will hate and bash no matter what. Pathetic.

Why does any company settle a multi-million dollar lawsuit? Because they are being SUED! They had to settle the lawsuit sometime. Just because it's settled doesn't guarantee rumble in Sixaxis. Sony has too much invested already in the current Sixaxis. I just don't see how they can get away with adding it after filling the space up with the motion sensor. It may not even be possible without a major overhaul that would dramatically change the controller.

Yes indeed. Lower price, Force Feedback and will definitely buy a ps3 over a 360. As of now my mind is still heading toward buying the zephyr (xbox 360 v2)

Well if the sixasis gets rumble built in, then the ps3 controller will prolly be better than the 360 controller overall. Analog sticks and triggers still sux, but the motion sensor will make up for it.

because its so hard buying a new controller....

hard or easy, that is sony milking more $$$ out of your pocket that you don't have after dumping $600 on the system. positive thing about having useless non-rumble sixaxis' ...... you can boomerang them.

because M$ milked so much money when they axed the Duke controller and gave us the S controller....

Last time I checked, the S controller didn't have any additional features that weren't present in the original...

What about the fact that you could actually hold the S-controller.

I had 4 dukes when they released the S-Controller. O burrrrrrn.

So, in Sony's theory, PS3 became "the last gen"....Since the rumble is last gen. It all makes sense now. No wonder games look better on xbox 360 than ps3. jiggawho2006
You could also say that with Microsoft, after all didn't they say 1080p and HDMI were not needed yet 1080p has been included and HDMI is rumoured.

Yeah, that same cooperative agreement could be used for racing wheels too.... Hardly foolish to not assume what hasn't been said.

I never said that Sony wouldn't eventually release a "vibrating racing wheel". I just wanted to bring up the fact that it'd be foolish to think that Sony won't release a SIXAXIS rumble controller.

Why do fanboys think its bad that Sony is putting back rumble ?? Do you  honestly think that we will be mad for somethin that will make millions of sony fans happy? I understand there was some people who said rumble isnt important but thats them..its not everyone..I for one love rumble..and im happy with the great news..I know some xboxfanboys who said they dont like rumble themself..so does that mean all xboxfanboys hates it and dont want it?? no!! And what did you expect sony to say they were in a lawsuit with immerision and they kiss and make up like a few weeks ago..and now immersion say they have "next gen rumble" so phil probaly goin to say we have the next gen controllers with "sixaaxis and rumble"..lol..

It's a little something called momentum. The PS1 Dual Shock had rumble. The PS2 has rumble. Because of the lawsuit, the PS3 currently doesn't have it, so they're losing momentum because gamers are used to rumble. They need to put it back in in order to regain that lost momentum.

It's like what happened when cars started introducing air conditioning. Eventually, a car wasn't a car without it.

Eactly now thats the real milkage..120gb hardrive with hdmi..the people who waited for it will get bigger and better deal for the 360 when it releases this year ..while the early adopters will cough up another 200 dollars for 120gb drive..

I guess we just have to agree to disagree, because I think it is foolish to assume that they WILL release a rumble Sixaxis. This has nothing to do with whether or not I hope they do.

You're just being stubborn and fail to realize the fact that Sony WILL release a controller with rumble. It's cool though. We forgive you! Btw, why don't you create a thread stating your belief that Sony might NOT release a SIXAXIS controller with rumble and instead came to a multi-million dollar agreement with Immersion so they could one day release "vibrating steering wheels and vibrating dance pads." Let's see how many folks agree with your logic.

Get off your lazy behind and work some extra hours and save up for a PS3. The time you spend here posting your could be working. A price drop is not going to happen in the near future. People are lazy and selfish.
