I got some bad news for you sony boys out there, well at least for those who care about modding on console.

You guys will only to be limited to one 1 gb worth of mods, while xbox one players will be able to install up to 5 gb worth of mods, which is far more than what fallout 4 currently offers on console.

Well, it's not like they can do anything spectacular with mods on console, anyway. Lol

The script mods are the only ones worth a damn, and you know those won't work.

So far we barely have any mods that require external asset. The only mod that requires script extender for me is the lookmenu mod. However, this might change since we currently don't have many quest mods available.

Maybe for you, but I need more mods than that. Besides, if I remember correctly SkyUI requires script extender on pc, so I am unsure if he will be able to port the mod over to console, but I could be wrong.

What system are you talking about? On PC, most of the great mods require SKSE; such as many combat change mods, SkyUI, Frostfall, Deadly Dragons, Survival, etc.

Fake restrictions are pathetic, regardless of 1GB or 5GB. If their going to allow modding on consoles then allow modding and stop restricting people. If someone wants to turn their 30 fps low/mid settings in a truly beautiful 1 fps slide show then let them.

I bought this on PC for $10 and get the free upgrade.

PS4/XB1 has to pay 60 gets less mods and get an uglier game

so I save 50 dollars and get the best version this is why pc is so good and consoles are so bad this is the reason people

Theres going to be some xbox and sony guy coming in here saying nobody cares about PC just wait just wait.

@enzyme36: most likely few weeks at least, it needs to be rebuild for 64bit and the first skse versions may not have the all the features current skse has, the problem is the skse authors don't have access to the special edition so they can't do too much work on it in advance

Basically the simple mods you can get from bethesda.net will most likely work fairly easy, but the more complex ones relying on skse will take time, SkyUi most likely month or so

This is a direct quote from one of the authors:

Yes - our plan is to have a version of SKSE for the Special Edition. Until we actually see what it is (64-bit port, full Skyrim on the F4 engine, ???) we're not going to know how much work it will take or our distribution plans. Maybe we'll have a completely separate "fork" for the Special Edition if it might see updates. Maybe we can maintain both builds who knows.

If it is truly Skyrim content on the F4 engine then SKSE for the Special Edition may require a lot of work. We've not yet gotten scripting extensions in for F4SE - and those may require a lot of the same efforts. As soon as we have an idea what is going on with the Special Edition and how it may affect us, we'll let you know.

@howmakewood: that would be great... I just hope they decide they want to update the SE.

I remember for Doom 3 when the BFG edition came out, all the mod makers never updated their work, and in the end the original version looked better than the update thru modding

I've played the hell out of Skrim and 100/100 the base game, while it's nice to view the upgrades on the visuals on the remaster, these mods changes the experience and adds more fun to the game. Too bad the PS4 is getting exposed once again and will have less options to adding to that fun. Maybe the PS4 Pro won't be so limited, one could only hope once again but even so, the most powerful console codenamed Scorpio will most likely increase that limit of mods, exposing the PS4 Pro to be so limited once again.

I for one don't really care about restrictions for a game from 2012 and from last gen.

The biggest issue I see with mods is quality control. I assume that Sony and MS are not verifying the mods. A friend of mine was modding his Fallout 4 on his Xbox One with one of the available mods. I don't recall the particular mod, but it was always crashing his Xbox One. Now personally the mods I use haven't done that, but I did witness his consistent issue with this particular mod.

Maybe MS and Sony are not a fan of mods because they want their system to still feel "closed" and "secure" when it comes to quality control? I don't know, just throwing that out there.

@Heil68: HEIL 10 DOLLARS VS 60 DOLLARS, sony should have let people with a ps3 copy of skyrim upgrade to this for 10 dollars HEIL!

if they own all thje ps3 skyrim and all the DLC should have gotten a digital upgrade for ps4 for a cheap price

Not necessarily true. I have some of the Fallout 4 mods, including the ones here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kvvIl6fHq8

And they are pretty damn sweet. You should some some of my homes I built. :O

If your idea of a cool mod is fixing bugs with work arounds, then you should re-evaluate mods and check out mods on PC for Skyrim. :P

These listed in the video are absolutely lame.

Frostfall adds backpacks, tents, chopping firewood and creating fires, along with camping and being able to freeze to death. It also adds temp changes that juxtaposes your attributes and status. It also makes NPCs put on cloaks or heavier clothing during snow storms, and in the colder regions.

DUEL combat revamps combat completely, which allows for a more visceral experience. Gone are the days of hacking away at an enemy for a decade, and this mod introduces stunning your enemies with your shield, a dynamic stamina gauge, and affixes it accordingly to your character strength. It uses a Dark Souls system, which allows you to hit your enemy's shield and eat away at their stamina if they are blocking, which will stun them if they run out of stamina.

Deadly Dragons adds 20+ new dragon types, allows you to change dragon encounters so they happen more or less frequently, adjusts the difficulty of them so you can control how hard just dragons are, and changes the loot table and allows you to add special loot to dragons.

This is just a sample of what's available. This doesn't even include immersive weapons and armor, which adds over 50+ armor and weapon combinations to the game, and randomly generates armor and weapons for NPCs and distributes them throughout the world. They are all lore friendly, also.

These are actual mods. Not the piddly bug fixes that Bethesda is too damn lazy to fix.

Well, in my opinon placeable NPC's, snap n' build, full dialogs, new cosmetics for characters, light sabers, building your own vault, new settlements and camping are hardly "fixing bugs".

I could be wrong though.

Full dialogue interface is something that Bethesda should have implemented from the start, considering most choices boil down to only 2 choices, and even then, there's not much choice in this barren wasteland. So, not technically a bug, but still a flaw due to Bethesda's lazy design.

And yes, those are all useless shit. People don't play RPG games to build crap. They play RPG games for immersive experiences in a world that involves drama, story and charismatic intervention, and everything you listed is worthless in terms of RPG gameplay. If you love to play games like Minecraft, then these mods are for you, is what you are saying.

What do new settlements add, exactly? Oh, some more worthless NPCs that require you to come to their aid? That's real useful.

If you want to put 500gb of mods on your Xbox One hdd then why not?

Ah, that makes sense. And yeah, the mods for Fallout 4 are particularly lame, even on PC, so far. It's either cosmetic changes, or adding more useless crap. I'm waiting for some big ones that add quests, change the gameplay such as making combat more fun, or adding cars to the game or something big.

MEH...don't care about mods. I play the games as intended by the devs.

pretty sure, the more passionate developers/artists at bethesda... would of liked what modders have envisioned far more, than they watered down pencil pusher dumb downs, time restraints, budget cuts and overall greed "intended".

Skyrim was obviously intended to be modded.

There is a reason they are launched so broken :P

same reason they denied EA access.

What system are you talking about? On PC, most of the great mods require SKSE; such as many combat change mods, SkyUI, Frostfall, Deadly Dragons, Survival, etc.

Sorry, I was talking about fallout 4, I don't know why I switched to a different topic. LOL.

There are plenty of good weapon and armor mods on the nexus, I would hardly call them lame.

They don't change the gameplay at all. They are lame, in my opinion. I don't enjoy the gameplay that Fallout 4 has, so just adding skins and guns doesn't fix anything, unfortunately.

That's your opinion, but many of us enjoy the new settlement building system. Before fallout 4 was released I even used a mod for new vegas which added something similar to the settlement crafting system in fallout 4, however; far less complex, but quite awesome nonetheless.

Why anyone would want to play Skyrim on consoles is something I will never understand.
