Too me it is between that and Rayman but Rayman's dirrection while looking good has been done before.
At times it looks like a painting. Does anyone else think this has the best art of 2011?

imo sonic generations(pc since thats only version i seen) > skyward sword
oh and wind waker cell shaded graphics looks better than skyward sword imo
Sktward sword is exactly how a zedla game should look. Not like TP which is totaly out of place in zelda.
That said, there are a lot of better looking 2011 artisitc games, even when ignoring rayman. Some DL games are amazing looking.
goblaa
I think twilight princess had a very appealing direction towards it's graphics a lot more so than this one.

I'll agree with this. I loved WW's graphics, and they still hold up wonderfully to this day. SS, on the other hand, just does absolutely nothing for me (not to mention that Link looks like a woman this time around...).
Yes, the Skyward sword art was definatley my favourite this year. Though, your image choices are poor.

Agreed, where did you get yours?
Do you have one in the sky?
Also may I use these in my original post?

They're not my images, I just got them from google. I think the reason your images are so fuzzy is because they recorded an SD game on a HD TV. The trick is to play it on an SD TV to experience maximum visuals from skyward sword.EDIT: And yes you can use them.

Your images are different because they're not an authentic representation of the game's visuals.

Play it on an SD TV then come back.Let me be more frank. The pictures you posted are rendered by a PC, not a Wii. An SDTV will smooth out the visuals, but it wont make them look like that.
No. Not even close. The details aren't low because of artistic design choices, they are low because the Wii can't produce anything better.
Pug-Nasty
The Wii delibritly had sub-HD graphics so artists had to get creative with their art styles, so your arguement is moot

Because you cant be creative in higher resolutions? lol
Skyward Sword is without a doubt one of the most visually appealing games I have ever played. I often spend time just looking at the scenery in the distance and how they turn in to paintings in real time. It's such a unique effect. That being said, Rayman Origins also looks fantastic and I can't decide between which is better looking aesthetically.
Interestingly enough these are the two games I can't decide between for my GOTY. What a great year
I dare you to tell me these screens are not breathtakingly beautiful

Really? Ok. I didn't know that. But that doesn't stop me from satying that Skyward swords visuals are amazing when playing on an SDTV, and one of the most artistic I've seen.[QUOTE="hakanakumono"][QUOTE="D4W1L4H"] Play it on an SD TV then come back.D4W1L4H

[QUOTE="illmatic87"]No, not even close. The Witcher 2 and Bastion take it so far, Rayman and El Shaddai look fantastic too even though I havent played them. If Trine 2 comes out this year, that'll get my vote.Tikeio

What's "artistic" about The Witcher 2's graphics? :|
You guys might as well define what artistic graphics look like... I mean, I go through this thread, and people seem to be associating artistic graphics(apparently not artstyle) with cel-shaded graphics. So yeah, I'm a bit confused on why The Witcher 2 can't possibly be brought up in this debate--that said I haven't played it yet, but I've heard nothing but praise toward the game's artstyle.
TC, you should establish that those images are from the PC emulator of Skyward Sword.
Don't get me wrong, the game looks great, but those are NOT images of the game on the Wii.

Not cel-shaded, the right word is stylized as opposed to photo realism. I'm heavily biased towards the former, of course games like Heavy Rain use a certain artstyle but I would never even consider it for debates like this one, the closer you get to realism the more boring it becomes for me.
I'm visually into games like SS, Bastion, Rayman Origins, Meat Boy, Galaxy, Ratchet. The graphics in games like Battlefield 3, Batman 2 and Skyrim actually de-hypes them for me. I get turned off when I see them. Ofcourse, if they are fun to play I can overlook the boring graphics.

Its colour palette, the clever change of hue and saturation in different areas and in different times of the day. The wonderful vistas, the meticulously detailed rocks, trees and architecture. It just looks dangerous during the night and beautiful during the day.[QUOTE="OB-47"]

No, but having sub-graphics makes people have to get creative with their game in more ways than "more polygons, higher AA"

Yeah. I think the only reason they chose this painted style was because it would have ended up looking very similar to Twilight Princess. Afterall, the Wiis pretty much at Gamecubes graphical capabilities, just a bit more powerful. Starfox Adventures looks far better graphically then most Wii games and ironically... its a gamecube game. Please Log In to post.
