It's called diversity in taste. For example, some people are not hyped for MGS 4, but hyped for Splinter Cell: Conviction. Some people like Assassin's Creed. Some don't.

I just finished Snake Eater last night (yes I know, late to the party) but it was such an amazing game, I figured I should make a post about it. I have never shed a tear in a game before, but last night I did. It was a single tear, yes, but I still cried. Make fun of me at your own will, but it's just a testament to how powerful the ending to that game was.

After seeing that I have to wonder, how many other games will do that to me? I now feel like every game I play I will want to leave with the same feeling as I did when I turned off Snake Eater. The answer is simple: Guns of the Patriots. Playing Snake Eater made me realize that the only game that will make me feel like that again will be MGS4. I am officially craving the final chapter of MGS. :)

So, who else cried? :D

I didn't cry, but I was deeply moved.

I didn't cry, but even though I had the ending spoiled for me beforehand, it was still pretty moving. For some reason, I found FFX's ending a bit more affecting. Half-Life 2: Episode 2's ending is the most powerful to me, though.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is a fantastic game once you wrap your head around the controls and camera, and I liked the story a lot. I'm looking forward to Metal Gear Solid 4, because it seems like the controls actually make sense this time.

Why is it so bad to cry over something in a game? I cried when Aries died in FF VII. I did shed a tear during MGS 2 and I did iundeed shed a few at the end of snake eater. When Snake is in the Cemetary and Eva is Narrating the Letter whe wrote really made me cry. so sad.

Snake Eater was the worst of the 3.

Sons of Liberty and Twin Snakes(since that basically is the title for MGS 1) were better in terms of story and way better boss fights.

MGS 1 was THE BEST.

If anything im glad, I dont have to be Big Boss and be bored by characters like the End, Fury, The Pain, and the Fear.

Biggest waste of characters. Boss and Sorrow were really cool though.

The boss fights and the characters in MGS2 were for the most part goddamn garbage. Fortune? Fatman? A bomb expert who rollerblades? C'mon, GTFO!

Of course MGS3 had some lame bosses with The Pain and The Fear, but The End, The Boss and The Fury overshadowed those.

Twin Snakes =/= MGS 1

Twin Snakes = crap port of MGS 1

1- Twin SNakes i meant the title. Thats basically what the title would be if we went by sons of liberty, snake eater, guns of patriots, twin snakes.....get it. Also How was it a bad port, same game in terms of gameplay, bosses, but more over the top cutscenes which were actually fun to watch. I loved the Grayfox snake fight after the ocelot battle

2- THE END SUCKED. A really long sniper fight, where he doesnt even kill u he puts you to sleep. You know what kind of borefest bummer it is on extreme. SNiper Wolfs sniper fight in the SNOW OWNED IT. And Vamp was really good as well.

3- I would take Fatman and his roller blades over pain and fear, and furry any day. I enjoyed the boss fight it didnt suck. Just long because he could eat so many bullets.

4- GRAYFOX FT MOTHER FUDGING WIN

5- I enjoy 3 key things in an MGS game Story(obviousaly), Boss Fights, and CHaracters(no this does not go hand in hand with story)

Fortune was actually a good character, a good story to her. THe ENd was an old fart, the furry was a loser, the pain was a waste. Sorrow and Boss were great characters.

Fatman was corny, but his mentor was a good character, There was tension in those scenes with Raiden, SNake(pliskin at the time) looking for the bombs.

Vamp creepy as heck.

But MGS 1 owned BOTH period in terms of story, boss fights, and characters.

GrayFOX owned period enough said.
Sniper Wolf like i said was IMO the better SNIPER Duel. SHe made you pay if you hesitated on extreme.
Volcan Raven was pretty tought. The man was cool.
Psycho Mantis, Ocelot, Liquid Snake. Decoy Octopus which you dont even find out about until the end.

It was great, My favorite thing about those characters was that Kojima tried to portray them as the bad guys, but once they were dead they had something noble about them. SOmething likeable about them.

I mean thats something i hope Kojima really does with MGS 4. Take that idea of your enemy just being another fellow soldier, somebody noble, somebody like you.

NO game IMO does that. Show the true emotion of killing in war, I want an emotion like that. Cause Soldiers are Soldiers, some of them fight for there country even when they dont agree on the war. Im hoping for something like that.

In the end of mgs2, I went: "OH GOD how long the cutscenes can be, okay, okay i won, let me go already!!"

In the end of mgs3, i though that no game has ever fkked in my face so bad (that means a plot twist), I even felt bad for the-thing-you-do-at-the-end-right-after-the-final-boss-fight and felt really sorry for snake, he was just a pawn.

I thought that I would have been a few years younger and a total emo id be crying my heart out.

I still dont get why people consider it the worst mgs yet.

But I expect much from MGS4

I beat Snake Eater 2 years ago and nothing since has moved me more than this game. Well executed game and story. Felt like a MGS game for fans of the series as opposed to trying to aim for a mainstream audience a la MGS2.

Did anyone panic when ocelot challenged you to a western style duel in the helicopter at the end? I seriously was worried I picked the wrong revolver!

Can't wait for MGS4

I Totally Agree with you on this this is one of my bigger reasons for loving mgs It shows there is no real "Good Guy" "Bad guy" (only in relative terms) which is very realistic and deepens the story
