Yes better than the PS2. Yes better than the Dreamcast. Yes better than the N64 and PS1. Yes better than the WiiU.
Why? A library of amazing games. No other reason. It looked like shit and the controller was meh. Didn't play music or movies. So it had to rely on it's games alone. That's why I don't care how many features the PS4 has over the Xbox One or vice versa, if the library isn't as good, point is moot.
But games like:
Axelay
Chrono Trigger
Contra III
Donkey Kong Country
Final Fantasy VI
F-Zero
Killer Instinct
Kirby's Dream Land
Mega Man X
Mickey's Magical Quest
Pilot Wings
Primal Rage
Secret Of Mana
Star Fox
Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World
Super Metroid
Super Punch Out!!
The Legend Of Zelda - A Link to the Past
Yoshi's Island
...are what make me realize just how amazing the system was. There are many more, but I can't be dealing with how good some of that shit I listed really is. Why can't a single game top Super Metroid's level design? It's progression? We have had decades to brush up on our chops, but nothing comes close.
So when Nintendrones tell me that the latest Mario games and the latest Zeldas, Metroids are the best, I refer them to the Super Nintendo where not only Nintendo peaked, but game design as a whole did.
Do you disagree.
