[QUOTE="KittenWishes"]Most hilarious damage control I have ever seen hahahaha!NerkconI know, he owned you hard! :D Or were you talking about yourself, this thread, or something else? No he didn't, it was just colour-coded fanboy babble while all I did was present the facts.
I think the game would have done so much better as a October/November 2010 title. We would have waited longer but the holiday rush would have greatly helped them, seeing as the only games looking like big sellers are GT5, DKCR and COD 7 (maybe AssAss creed too).
Its like what happened with Project Gotham Racer 4 in 2007. MS released it a month and a half after Forza 2 and although the game sold decent, it didnt do as good as it should have done. If they were smart, they would have delayed it to 2008 (which saw no racers outside of mario kart and burnout) and hyped it as a big 360 exclusive. tis a shame.
Anyway AW hasnt done bad and i expect this time next year it will have hit 1 million.
It should have come out NOW. The dead summer would have been a perfect time to play a great 1st party title.Summer is usually a bad time to release games since more activities at home are directed outdoors.[QUOTE="Nerkcon"][QUOTE="KittenWishes"]Most hilarious damage control I have ever seen hahahaha!KittenWishesI know, he owned you hard! :D Or were you talking about yourself, this thread, or something else? Not to mention you started it, now reap what you sowed.
dude you have a 10mb signature. you should immediately change thatSorry my friend but those numbers are low.. UFC 2010 outsold it for petesake. I to hope this game has legs but I remain very doubtful in that regard. AW just came at a bad time (releasing the same month as RDR).

I think the game might of been kinda niche. I think it sold relatively well considering this. Anywy, Quality games dosent always mean high sales.
No it isn't. Remedy are pleased with the sales so it looks like a sequel is inevitable. Just another awesome xbox 360 exclusive.Alan wake isn't a flop, it is a failure. That is the difference. Lemmings want to admit that it was a failure. Cows want to admit that it was a flop.

Even though MS is considering canning it? The sales can't be that great then.

Where have MS said they are considering canning it? Please link me, because I know they haven't.Pretty sure something can both flop and fail. Google search Alan Wake sales - "Alan Wake sales slightly disappointing", "Alan Wake's sales not doing so well", "Alan Wake sales dissappointing", "Alan Wake sales not impressive" I don't believe MS has expressed there interest in a seuel yet either. Either way, Alan Wake flopped.Alan wake isn't a flop, it is a failure. That is the difference. Lemmings want to admit that it was a failure. Cows want to admit that it was a flop.

I love your cow logic: "THEY ARE HAPPY SO THEY MUST BE DISAPPOINTED COZ I SAY SO!!!!!!!!!! :( " Microsoft haven't said anything about a sequel. Hakkinen was asked if one was in the pipeline, DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK THEY ARE GOING TO ANNOUNCE THE SEQUEL 1 MONTH AFTER THE GAME HAS LAUNCHED? Seriously...How much did it cost to make the game?SparkyProtocolThey've never said, but the dev team only has 40 people on it. In comparison, I have read two or more Japanese developers say that for a team of 100+ to profit on a game they need to shift 500 000 units to break even.

The game was in development for a huge amount of time, costing a ton of money for such a small studio. http://gamer.blorge.com/2010/05/08/remedy-betting-everything-on-alan-wakes-success/ - and theyve obviously got a lot to lose. Would you want to admit your game failed so soon if you had invested so much time and money into it? I don't think so. Maybe there will be a sequel, but I think its most unlikely until we get a real answer.
[QUOTE="djsundowner"]You're an embarrassment to Phantasy Star. It's not a shooter and it's only available for 360. That explains everything.

No, I'm just a guy saying that a quality unique game like Alan Wake is wasted on the vast majority of 360 owners. Say whatever you want about Playstation gamers, but they do seem to have more varied tastes in games as a whole.

Maybe there will be a sequel, but I think its most unlikely until we get a real answer. There's episodic DLC coming, and if that performs well too... MS haven't said they're disappointed, and neither have Remedy. People criticise MS for not trying new IPs, then criticise them when they do and it's not 2 million in 24 hours or something. I'm glad they took that risk, because I got to play through one of the most atmospheric, and brilliantly narrated games I've played this gen IMO.

Yep and that totally means they want to place it all in a sink hole and watch it disappear. Im not saying a sequel is impossible, I just think its most unlikely going by the info we already have.
