They're both great games and they are both selling well.

Bioshock will leave an impressionable mark in gaming history and Metroid Prime 3 will be rememberd as the game that took Wii controls (ir and motion) to another level while proving their is a very strong hardcore group of Nintendo gamers out there.

Let us not forget Matroid Prime 2 only sold half a million in its entire run.

Their is no story here, so stop trying to make one just to argue about something in system wars.

1. Metroid released only in America

2. Metroid came out week later

3. Metroid only on 1 system, Bioshock on 2

Metroid is still outselling it though on a week to week basis.

I didn't know people weren't capable of reading.. didn't everyone in this thread pass the 5th grade? wait no.. even the 2nd grade?

1.I only counted american numbers

2. true.. not going to argue against facts

3. I only counted the 360 version of BioShock

You're avoiding the fact MP3 has outsold Bioshock every week since its release...

And has yet to surpass the total sold on just the 360 version. That fact would seem to say something as well.

That Bioshock had a huge first week, then fizzled out?

???

Bioshock 418,119 (Week 1), 166,411 (Week 2), 120,732 (Week 3)

MP 314,157 (Week 1), 121,579 (Week 2)

Who fizzled out?

Bioshock did (but MP3 also dropped quite a bit), but by those numbers MP3 did outsell bioshock in the weeks since it has been released.

MP3 450k

Of course Metroid will break 1 million. It'd be idiotic to assume it wouldn't.

The real question is whether or not it will match the sales of the original Prime. I personally hope it does, because it's just an extremely streamlined and polished experience that has yet to be matched this generation. It's not glitchy as hell like games that for some odd reason scored higher than it and got GOTY awards...*sigh*

Side note: I love Gears, but c'mon...that is one GLITCHY-ASSED game.

Well, maybe by World in Conflict, but I don't know jack about RTS genres, so I can't comment.

I cant think of another game that paced the story and action that well.

And the setting and enemys were all more powerfull.

Using a radio to comm with major characters was a good thing. a way to tell the story and not break the action at all. along with picking up the audio diarys of the residents of rapture the story telling never stopped and neither did the action.

Coyo7e

Actually, I thought that the pacing was a little off - you were forced to do all of these ridiculous fetch quests in almost every single area of the game in order to progress the plot. It just felt like 2K were trying to artificially make the game longer by forcing you to backtrack whenever you hit a new room.

The setting was great, true, but the enemies were pathetic. I mean, the final boss took less than two minutes to kill on normal mode - and I don't think that I actually got hit during that battle. Not that it matters - there's no penalty for dying.

...and the audio log thing is in no way original - it was used in System Shock, making it (at least) 13 years old.

why'd you play the game on normal mode then.. don't bash the game because you weren't smart enough to raise the difficulty level..

It took me 3 trys to kill the final boss on hard

Hard mode only increases the damage enemies deal to you, right?
So it would have made no difference in the final battle, since the final boss didn't actually hit me (as far as I can remember).

This is just for American sales

according to VGchartz

BioShock 360 version-705,262

MP3-440,000

Kinda crazy when you think about it..

a brand new IP outselling a game with 20+ years of history..

What's wrong about this picture?

Wiiplay-2,263,966 copies sold

Mario Party 8-1,244,847 copies sold

MP3-440,000 copies sold..

this is just for American sales..

GGNoRematch

1. 360 relies heavily on the american market.

2. Metroid Prime 3 is very close to a million worldwide.

3. You should be saying how MP3 has outsold lair, warhawk, heavenly sword combined.

Why are some people so ignorant? He's only counting the sales on one bloody system: the Xbox 360. Accept it already, BioShock is outselling Metroid Prime 3.

The entire Metroid series hasn't even sold more than 15 million units. It never sells well... which is a shame because there are so many gamers out there who would most definitely enjoy them.

dude, face it the Wii has outsold the 360 all around.

peter moore showed the stats at E3 when he revealed since launch the wii had at the time outsold the 360 2.8 million to 2.7 million

i'm sure the gap is wider now.

Bioshock SHOULD outsell MP3. why? because there are 7 million 360 owners in the US and only 4.7 million wii owners in the US.

as for what's wrong with that picture. well one is a bundle, one has been out for 15 weeks. and the last one only 2. I think what's wrong was to compare those three at this time at all.

The ironic thing is that all the people complaining about the sales of MP3 are the same ones who didn't even buy the game. If you have a problem with the support for hardcore games on the Wii then go out and buy the game yourself.

Is it because it's not cute enough? Or is it because the FPS Adventure genre is generally boring..

nintendofreak_2

It just wasn't ever popular. Nobody really knows why.

Bioshock is not all that popular either. I doubt Bioshock will be a million seller in the USA alone, it will need Europe as well to do it. Metroid will outsell Bioshock in the end though. Btw lemmings, I though sales don't matter :P

Metroid has never been a Mario or a Zelda. Actually this is really impressive, because it sold half of MP2's lifetime sales in a very short time. I believe that is a third of MP1. In America that is.

It seriously took about seventy posts for someone to say this? VGChartz numbers are a vague approximation, usually with little to do with what's really going on. The reliable numbers come from the NPD, which show MP3 selling over 200k units in less than a week on the market. That's not exactly poor sales, people.

The first two games sold something like 5 and 6 million copies respectively world wide, if Metroid Prime 3 gets close to those figures or surpasses them, Bioshock will not even touch it.

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]The entire Metroid series hasn't even sold more than 15 million units. It never sells well... which is a shame because there are so many gamers out there who would most definitely enjoy them.DSgamer64

The first two games sold something like 5 and 6 million copies respectively world wide, if Metroid Prime 3 gets close to those figures or surpasses them, Bioshock will not even touch it.

wtf ahahahahha.. the first Metroid sold 2.77 million and the 2nd one managed to sell 1.27 copies..

A little off from your 5 and 6 million mark

Bioshock came out before MP3.

EDIT: Also, Bioshock is PC + 360, AND MP3 is only out in the US. So obviously Bioshock will have higher sales.

He might have been referring to the first two Metroid games...

It's simple logic..

1.Japanese gamers don't play First Person Shooters

2.MP1 and 2 sold didily squat in japan

GGNoRematch

Well there is a little thing called a Wiimote and Nunchuck that is all the rage in Japan along with the DS, so who knows? This might outpace the other MP games in japan for quite a large number. Of course it's all speculation on either part...

I think it may help sales in Japan a litlle, but not enought to really bring Metroid Prime 3 as a big seller in Japan. Actually, I was quite surprised when I heard the sales data. I knew that Metroid doesn't sell well, but for the short amount of time it was on market, it sold really well.

it is because the Wii caters to kids. And sheep don't deny it. I have a Wii and the only reason I have it is for the kids. Plain and simple.

Well you seem to ignore what one of the posters has been repeating now. MP3 has outsold Bioshock in its first 2 weeks and at its current rate, it will reach 1 million, if not 2 millinon sales in America (with a bit of Europe and Japan as well). I don't see how you could possibly even think MP3 wouldn't reach 1 million sales, considering it's only been out for 2 weeks. Metroid might not be popular on Halo or Mario calibur, but it carries a popular enough name to garner it a good amount of sales.

Metroid is not popular, at all. It was supposed to be the answer to Halo but it always gets obliterated in sales.bragac200

Uh, you do know that Metroid was released in 1986...right? Or are you one of those people who thinks Samus Aran is a ripoff of Master Chief?

Is it because it's not cute enough? Or is it because the FPS Adventure genre is generally boring..

nintendofreak_2

It just wasn't ever popular. Nobody really knows why.

I do......the Metroid series is a more hardcore gamers series than either the Zelda or Mario series, which appeal to any age, and just aren't as hardcore.

I prefer Metroid to either of the other 2.
