So GTA IV modded > GTA V

Based on the new trailer, I would say that once again, a sequel is released for a game that doesn't look as good as the previous game modded on the PC. Consoles still holding PCs back in multiplatform releases. GTA IV with Icenhancer or any of its other mods look much better than than the footahe shown in th GTA V trailer.

Who knows though... maybe that was footage from a console version and the PC version will actually have some of the things that the modding community has shown Rockstar what their engine is really capable of when not limited to old hardware.

What do you guys think? Did GTA V look better or have devs once again not capatalized on what modern PCs can do?

In fact, I think this looks better than BF3 on consoles, but BF3 on PC is still graphics king in my opinion.

Yet another sequel to a game that doesn't look better than a previous title in the series, and not just previous game, but three games ago.

who cares, gta was never the best looking game around, i'm not expecting it to look realistic, i'm expecting it to be fun and engaging, if you don't like gta V because of its "graphics" then sorry your loss. So glad to see how gaming is going, this is why companies spend millions of dollars to make the game look good and the gameplay is the after thought, thanks for contribituing to it.

I never said the game wouldn't be good due to graphics. Typically, when a new game comes out in a series, aka a sequel, it improves upon itself. In this case, GTA V didn't improve really at all. In looking at what the game engine's capabilities shown by PC modders, GTA V is a step in the wrong direction in making improvements in terms of graphics. Again, I never said the game wouln't be good because of its graphics, but what you stare at the game every second that you play it... it's nice when it looks nice.

And modded GTA V>modded GTA IV.

This I hope Rockstar North actually works fulltime on the PC port like all the previous ones before IV. Come on Take 2 we don't want some other random Rockstar studio working on our GTA port. :evil:

If you want great graphics go out in the real world, video games are meant to be fun, and so what if modded gta 4 looked good, rockstar can easily make great graphics its just the consoles cant handle them

You can turn motion blur off in the graphics settings of PC games...

Modded GTA IV > Vanilla GTA V

Modded TES III: Morrowind > Vanilla TES IV:Oblivion

This time, I want it to be possible to actually run it, instead of it looking great.

GTA was never about graphics and since it started on consoles (GTA3 and not GTA 1 since it started the 3D in it's series) I wouldn't care if it did hold back pc's since it never started out as a PC exclusives like Crysis and many well known pc exclusives that now start on consoles first rather then pc. All I care about is gameplay.

GTA4 modded>every game.

You can't expect GTAV to look like the modded one on consoles.

Who cares anyway if modders can make texture packs and new lighting systems.

I'd rather have a well-optimized PC game from Rockstar.

gta 4 modded will look way better than a console version of gta 5.

if you're a pc gamer then you should be praying for a well optimised game not something so ridiculoulsy demanding only a handful of pc gamers will be able to run it at acceptable framerates

Well, we haven't been shown any real gameplay yet, just a montage of some walking, driving, and city... stuff...

I will be getting SR3 because it looks fun. Great graphics and great gameplay are not mutually exclisive things and if I can have both that is great but if I had to pick, I go gameplay every time. I am not playing GTA for its graphics, but again, it is nice if they look great. If the game had the art style of Borderlands/Firefall or Limbo/Braid, then I really wouldn't care, but the game is going for a realistic artstyle so, for me in this case, would like the graphics to seem as real as possible.

After looking at the overclockers link it seems you need a pretty hefty gaming rig to run the modded version of GTAIV. One guy talks about take an i7 2600k CPU (an expensive chip in itself) and overclocking it to 5ghz to play the game at 1080p. This is way beyond what most average people with a average rigs can do.CwlHeddwyn

I have a 2-3 year old PC that has stock settings and I play modded GTA IV perfectly fine. My CPU is a Q9550 @ 2.8 by the way.

At low res and low frame rate I'm Sure but the guys on over lockers are talking about 1080p high fps, max settings etc.CwlHeddwyn

You only need a quad core and a hefty GPU. You don't need a 2600k at 5GHz. Those guys are full of crap.

This is what happens when you use hacks + a game that's is one of the worst ports ever.

The art direction of the GTA IV graphics mod is crap. You got high res and shiny everything, but the art styIe suffers incredibly for it. I uninstalled the mod after a quarter way through the game.

I don't mind the lack of minute detail in Rockstar's games because their games are so visually consistent it doesn't break immersion. Even a good looking game like Crysis would have small breaks in immersion with fugly rock textures and stuff.

The only thing that's gonna get me is the sub-30 framerate on consoles, and if it happens, the poor optimization on PC.
