Your right! They are totaly going to redo everything before it releases this fall.  

At the moment, it looks like a High Def version on Halo 2.
I don't know if the graphics are going to see an overhaul before release, but at the moment, it looks like a high def Halo 2.

People act like Halo 3 somehow isn't living up to the E3 trailer.

It is. Just because it isn't zoomed in doesn't mean that the environments and character models haven't improved immensely from Halo 2.

Looking at them side by side, it's night and day.  

Look at around 40 seconds. Looks better in motion, of course, but I thought it looked real. :)

Exactly. Though I still think Halo 3 will look great, I don't expect mind-blowing visuals from it anymore. But that's not what Halo's about anyways.

Yeah, I never played Halo for it's graphics.  They were nice in the lastest installments, but Halo is about more than graphics.

That's not true. A lot of footage of Crysis was released while it was in Alpha state. Hell, can someone confirm that it isn't in Alpha now?

 Halo 3 does look great. The multiplayer animations aren't. And why can't the same thing be said with MGS4 during TGS2006?

All the people shouting "ALPHA" are going to be dissapointed.Bungie have clearly stated that halo 3 will be no gears in terms of graphics.The graphics are not that important to them,the gameplay is.So it will basically look like a high def halo 2 with improved textures and physics.Is that a bad thing? Well not if you liked halo 2.

I think the graphics are dissapointing and cannot see them getting much better tbh,alpha or not.They are a far cry from the so called "in game" rendered videos we have seen with the ultra impressive music score. 

Halo has never really been about graphics. It's always been about the gameplay. To this day there still isn't really a FPS on consoles that plays as well as it does. I say this and I'm not really a Halo fan. I like it, but I prefer my FPS on the PC.

The game looks great even in alpha. This is MS's baby. Do you really think they would let it go to piss?

I think people should look at how Gears turned out before they judge Halo 3 because I think the same thing is going to happen. Just before Gears came out people were saying it looked terrible. Now Gears is pretty much the bar for how good a game looks on a console. I think Bungie knows what's at stake here.

They are in some deep s**t if they are releasing it in 7 months, and still in alpha. This alpha crap reeks of BS, they just don't want to admit it isn't going to look as good as some people hope.

I just watched it on my 360. It looked different. But I just watched the link you provided, it doesn't look much different. Which one should I believe? The one on my tv with high quality or youtube's low quality?waynehead895

even if these are alpha they are pretty dang good and a noticble upgrade from halo 2 IMO, the textures and lighting and the masterchief look much better, i hope they get physics better though, and fall damage,

i hate when you ram someone with a ghost in H2 and they go flying 100 feet and survive!

also, i think the animations are better, (not the death animations those suckc and bungie needs to change those).

but overall the movement looked very fluid and good, though... they need to show the chief dropping the trip mine and bubble shield instead of it just falling out of him :wink:

They never said that at all. They said the detail and art style is different from gears to maintain the Halo look. EGM are quoted as saying "gears of what?" upon being shown the single-player campaign.

i would be suprised if H3 looked better than gears, halo was never a game that aimed for super realism in graphics... or gameplay....

i am happy with even the alpha look and if it will look better than that in the end then i am fine with halo's graphics./

It looks better about as much as Chaos Theory Xbox to Double Agent 360. It's mostly a superficial difference, better HDR and more color pixels. The difference is definately clear what they should have shown is morefirst person footage which is what most people are gonna see when they play the game. I will definately be camping out for this game if I don't get a pre-order in time.Anoch20

I completely agree. The few first-person shots looked so much better. When just a camera view, it looks like pure madness. 

I was really expecting better graphics! I mean, come on! Its the 360! And how often do we get a Halo?

If you downloaded it on XBL kid you would see "Alpha build" at the bottom of the screen. Still looks better than Resistance in it's Aphla state.

I don't care. Gears still looked better than this a year before it was released, and I'm not saying this because I'm a Gears fanboy, I hate the game.

This footage is from 3 years ago, check the bottom left portion of the screen. It says something along the lines of Bungie Halo 3 alpha 11/20/04.SteveMcD
