Poll So how have you liked Overwatch Open Beta so far? Rate it 0-10 (only those who played it) (112 votes)

10/10 8%
9/10 23%
8/10 34%
7/10 32%

I am LOVING it. The PC version at least is very fun. Tons of different classes and map styles. My favorites are the tanks, they feel very new and different compared to TF2 heavy.

Yes this is a lot like TF2, but an evolution. It took 10 years but we finally have a successor to TF2. Surely better than yearly military rehashes, a once every decade evolution.

I've played several days for many hours, I give it a 9/10. Any console gamers can tell me how it was on PS4/XB1? I heard not as good due to it being mostly designed around superior mouse (sorry had to make it relevant to this board). Thoughts?

Also if you do like it, what is your favorite character? Mine is Reinhardt.

That is a ridiculous statement. As a class based shooter the characters have less options individually and you have less options overall to counter play.

Except the characters and their playstyles are not only more varied but are far more unique than anything coming close to TF2.. Except for the spy..

Each hero has ZERO customization option, none.

Are we talking about hats? Or the minscule item system where it gives a slightly different change that is nothing ground breaking.. With a far smaller group of heroes to go..

That is objectively worse compared to TF2 where each class has dozens of items with different benefits/drawbacks that can be used situationally. Even though there are more characters in Overwatch you still have fewer options than you do with 9 classes in TF2. This is further amplified by the low player count, with only 6 per side versus 12 (or 16) in TF2 you again have fewer option.

More players in a game do not mean better... Wish people would get that through their heads.. Remember people were talking shit about TF2 only having 16 players when it released.. So nice try.

I said it before - Overwatch is no more an evolution of the class based shooter than HotS is an evolution of the MOBA genre.

Don't worry buddy Overwatch isn't going to cut into the Hat economy TF2 has turned into. This is coming from some one who has 200+ hours in TF2..

But either way agree to disagree..

7/10, It's basically TF2 as it was when it was released. I expect it to become worth buying after a couple of years of updates.

I didn't play it but I talked to someone at the airport who knew a fella who was going to play it. With that said, the thread is kinda / since there is no 6/10 to click on. So I did the next best number I could find. 8/10.

You're an idiot. Everything I have post re:Overwatch has been true. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it false. Either refute it with evidence or go back to 4chan.

@SexyJazzCat:

False, the dynamic resolution makes the game run like crap. The textures are muddy on anything less than max, and the view distance set to anything that makes the game look like it is from this decade tanks the FPS on greater than recommended hardware. To get the maps to look as good or better than TF2 with maxed post processing results in performance FAR worse than the same settings on TF2.

So stop lying.

I gave it an 8 which is the highest score I'd ever give a multi-player only game that is full price. Great game only knock is the price

I would give it a 5 or a 6 out of 10 although I know it's going to get higher because it's a blizzard game. Nice graphics and good gameplay but nothing really holding my interest as far as unlocks or gear or anything to give it longevity to me.

8/10

Went in with zero expectations and frankly wasn't even really tracking the game, that said immediately was impressed with the style, shooting mechanics, number of different characters with unique play styles, and graphics/sound design. To be honest I haven't been into MP shooters in years, but I'll probably pick this one up since I know some friends who are doing so as well and it is pretty damn fun playing on a team with friends.

The longevity is going to be in the competitive aspect and release of free heroes and maps rather than milko-transactions. Ranked matches are not in beta.

10/10 for me. Yes, it leans heavily on TF2, but as others said it: it's an evolution. 21 wildly different "classes", not only in weapons but with unique skills and ults is quite crazy. Yes, there are only 3 game modes, but there is a great variety of maps and they are really well designed. But here's the most important part: The game is FUN. The first match I played, I made play of the game by blowing up four people with D.VA's ult and I instantly fell in love with Overwatch. All the time I was playing with friends, there was constant laughter about all the crazy shit that kept happening. It's such a brilliant game and a really great throwback to the fantastic online shooters of the past whilst adding lots of modern elements to it. Basically, Blizzard did what they always do, this time with team based online shooters. They don't re-invent the wheel, but they take the best of what's out there and improve / streamline it.

I really have no hard complaints about this game. No hero seems OP, there's a counter to everything and you can always switch your hero to adapt. And knowing when to switch things up is such an integral part of the game and can win matches.

I can't wait for the release! At least there is Uncharted 4 to bridge the time between the just closed beta and the final product. ;)

None of those things you just stated are true. Firstly, it isn't an evolution in any sense. It has less variety than TF2 in terms of heroes/classes in every regards. Even with the 21 classes (9 in TF2) you have FAR less options for adapting and counter-playing with each hero having ZERO customization. With all the items and various builds in TF2 you have many, many more options than you do in Overwatch even though their are more characters. Secondly, there are far fewer maps and game modes than TF2 and the maps are smaller, like Destiny Crucible smaller. And no there is not a great variety, there aren't enough maps or tilesets to even have a "good" amount of variety. Furthermore, the movement and gunplay are objectively worse than they are in TF2.

Thirdly, and I realize this is an opinion, the game is not fun to play. My first match as Widowmaker I went 15/3, and we still failed on defense, I remember thinking "This is it? This is what Blizz has had in closed beta for a year and it still isn't any fun to play?". It didn't get any better after that, the player counts are too low and the maps are too small for any interesting encounters to take place - it is just a chaotic, messy dogpile at every choke point or objective. Combined with every hero being locked in terms of abilities, forcing you to switch characters repeatedly to fill roles (which is tedious and not fun) I lost interest pretty fast. This game is in no way worth $40-60, not even close. TF2 retailed for $20 at launch and has been F2P for years. How Blizz can justify full retail price for a game that doesn't match up in terms of quality or quantity to it's nearest competitor is completely beyond me.

7/10 for me. Allthough I had loads of fun, I don't have loads of cash. The price tag of €70 (nearly $80 or £55) on the PS4 for a game like this is way to much. I already thought it was a bit repetative while playing the beta. Somehow the Escort type maps came by often and these matches all kinda went down the same way. There is a much cheaper version available for PC and there are probably sinister reasons why this version won't be available for the consoles (maybe not Blizzard's fault).

I had played the beta of Overwatch for awhile. I enjoy the changes they made from the previous tests. I give it a 9/10 on PC.

8/10. Game is flames and I played the beta for 30 hours and enjoyed myself 90% of the time. My only complaints: Zenyetta needs some buffs.. he's definitely the weakest support right now. Also, Bastion isn't broken but he literally makes the game a hell of a lot less fun. They should lock his turret mode to 180 degrees.

It prevents fanboy bs, the game is nowere near under 7/10 unless you are extremely biased.

It's a solid 9/10. I'm shocked at how balanced the game is right now. Some people complain about OP characters but every character has a counter. Bastion is easy to deal with once you have a team communicating.
