I would say no, mainly because after playing the demo, it sure seems to be nothing more than a glossed up port, with of course a few more things like an extra playable character and a few more levels in the final version, but nothing that would signify a completely new or different game from NGB or NG for the XBOX.
Any way, what do you guys think? Also do you think TN is going to put NGS on the 360 or are they just going to work on NG2 and that will be good enough?
eastside49er
Yes it will count because this will be the first ninja gaiden for any next gen system, and ninja gaiden sigma is an exclusive for the ps3. http://www.gamepro.com/news.cfm?article_id=115208

Not necessarily. :| They could use the same engine and make a new game with it...
Do you know anything about computer architectures? If so, you'll know what is meant by port and remake. You claim remake (which I'm not arguing). But I am saying a remake != exclusive. where you are saying remake == exclusive.
Also remake == new engine & new graphics.

I think that would be dumb if they ported Sigma to 360. I think it would be a waste of time and could delay Ninja Gaiden 2 even further. Team Ninja just needs to focus on Ninja Gaiden 2. But I wonder when NG2 will be released. Q4, 2008?
I don't think NGS should be considered exclusive. Here's why. It is just an "update" of NG. It is not an entirely new NG game. Think of PC games. Is the Sims considered exclusive to PC because of all the expansion packs that add new elements to the same game? No. So why should NGS be considered "exclusive" to PS3 when all it does is add updates to the existing Xbox game? See what I'm saying?
Let's say for the sake of argument that all the add-ons for Oblivion weren't available for the Xbox 360. Let's say that the PS3 version got all those add-ons (which it did) from the get go. Would Oblivion be considered (under those conditions) exclusive to the PS3? No. Same with NGS. The ONLY difference is that it has the word "Sigma" at the end of Ninja Gaiden. All the rest....just add-ons.Â

I agree. Sigma is basically a new version of the same game. I consider Sigma to be Ninja Gaiden Version 3.0. And Black obviously being Ninja Gaiden Version 2.0.

And as it seems you would rather insult me than actually reply, I guess this discussion is in fact over.Â
[QUOTE="RevenMan"]You silly cows, you can't just change the system wars rules like some above posters mentioned if NG:Sigma is exclusive then GRAW and Guitar Hero 2 are also Xbox360 exclusives, from what i have seen/read its basicly the same game with some new better graphics and some rachel action. Im not saying its a bad game or anything on the contrary its a great game but people that have an xbox or a xbox360 have probably alredy played it and its the same experience like in NG:Sigma.e20Dylan
with all the additions its obviously a different experience... why would people buy it if its the same experience? this game will sell like hot cakes
How do you figure that?Â

Just like xbox has an exclusive version of Guitar Hero 2. And the wii is getting an exclusive Resident Evil 4. Heck why not change all the rules we've been using in system wars to make the flopstation3 appear better than it is.
Why not count all PS2 AAA Exclusives as PS3 exclusives also? I mean you can play them on the PS3 so why not?
And what if it does get 9.0 or above?Â
Its a toughie alright, because on one hand it has exclusive content, on the other hand, you can play Black on the Xbox/360 that uses the same engine and has a good 80%+ of the content that Sigma has.
Maybe it could be classed as some kind've exclusive expansion pack ?Â
Snugenz
Are you dumb? same engine??? it's a brand new engine tailored to the PS3. Also the game has new levels, new weapon, and new bosses.

Great post and very true, although some in here will disagree because they are mindless zombies with eyes and minds not of their own. I see a lot of people in here drinking the coolade pitch from TN. "ITS A REMAKE! ITS A REMAKE!" Of course they are going to say that. They want to sell games don't they? Of course if you have eyes of your own and a mind of your own, you wouldn't hedge at every word spoken from a dev/pub. Go play NG/NGB and then go play the NGS demo and you will see what I mean.
Any way an exclusive game to me has to have two things. A completely different engine or a completely different story, with all new levels, etc. Take God of War 2 for example. It uses the same exact same engine as God of War, but it is considered a new game. Why? Because it has all new levels, a new story, etc. NGS is not even close to meeting these standards. Hell GRAW for the 360 is closer to meeting these standards than NGS for the PS3. Another example would be REremake. It uses a completely difference engine than the PS1 version. That to me is a new game, that was truly remade from the top to the bottom as far as the engine goes. Another example is FFVII. They are talking about remaking that game and if they do, they will will use a completely new engine than the PS1 version that I can assure you so yes I would consider that an exclusive for whatever system it comes out on.
NGS simply doesn't qualify as a completely new game. 80 to 85 percent of the content in NGS is in NGB and NG. I considered NGB to be a port of NG and NGS is more or less the same. Same engine. Same story. Engine has been tweaked a bit, but not to the degree of REremake. Yes there is extra content, but what port of any timed exclusive doesn't have more content? RE4 ring any bells cows? How about GH2 for the 360? I could go on and on with that all day, every day.
Any way, this thread can be closed now. Casey has agreed and around here his word is god so it is not exclusive and if by some miracle a cow changes his mind, then we will need another thread about how the 360, XBOX, GCN, PS2, etc gained a thousand+ new exclusives via the cow protest of NGS not being exclusive.
[QUOTE="LuvGaming"]I would consider it an exclusive. Sure, Xbox owners can play the crappier looking original without all the new bells and whistles but only PS3 fans can enjoy the new version of Sigma. Btw, the main developer claims that it is NOT a port but a REMAKE. A REMAKE which is EXCLUSIVE to the PS3. Nuff said.
CaseyWegner
time to change the rules to make them work in cow's favor now?
Don't bother. Let these lems hate. It's a nextgen game and it's only on the PS3. How hard is it to understand this? Did NGB run at 720p/1080p when it was released? No, did NGB have Rachel as a playable character? No, did NGB have the three aditional chapters that NGS has? No.
It's exclusive, live with it.
Endfinal
Anyway, this thread has no point now since, casey updated the NGS hype thread and has claimed the game unexclusive, even though it technically is. I guess theoretics rule over technicalities here...ultima-flareLmao!!! Did he actually do that? That's pretty pathetic. I don't care what he thinks, it's a remake according to devs and I happen to agree. The game was built from the ground up, has plenty of new missions, new characters, new weapons... shall I go on?
So now that ninja gaiden sigma is about to come out, and the creator of the original ninja gaiden has said it is a ps3 exclusive, now they wanna turn around and say this doesnt count if it gets an AAA? Last time I checked were talking about exclusive games coming out to next gen systems only, so if Ninja Gaiden Sigma gets an AAA, then its considered a PS3 AAA exclusive. Oh and here is the interview with Itagaki saying sigma is only for ps3.

How am I fighting a battle that is already lost? The fact is Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a PS3 Exclusive and if it does score an AAA, it should be counted as an AAA. Those rules are ridiculous man. If u are gonna say that Ninja Gaiden Sigma does not count as an AAA exclusive to the ps3 then I think its only fair that we dont count gears of war and other games we see on xbox 360 and pc that get AAA because the pc does count as a gaming machine aswell, going by your logic. The fact im pointing out is now u guys start trying to change up rules, because u are scared that the ps3 has a chance of getting its first AAA exclusive with Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and I remember a few months ago alot of u xbox 360 fanboys were making fun of the ps3 because it has no good games and now ninja gaiden sigma was made for the ps3 as an exclusive and has a chance to get an AAA, u wanna change the rules. That is just wrong. Anyways I could care less, because we all know this forum is ran by mostly xbox 360 fanboys, and now that there making up new rules, its just bs if u ask me.
If NGS is an exclusive.. does that make GTA4 a xbox 360 exclusive? It gets extra content..user_nat
Â
No because GTA4 is not a REMAKE, the extra content that might be exclusive to the XBOX 360 is downloadable content and doesn't come with the game.. and Sigma has next gen graphics over it's last gen counterpart.Â
but seriously, you lemmings can't get it into your heads... let me make it simple for you.. While Sigma and Black are similer in terms of level design and story... Sigma offers the BETTER package over Black.. and the BETTER package is ONLY for the PS3.. you can't get the BETTER package on any other consoles can you? So what does that mean? The BETTER package is EXCLUSIVE to the PS3..... WOW that wasn't so hard was it :|
I don't think NGS should be considered exclusive. Here's why. It is just an "update" of NG. It is not an entirely new NG game. Think of PC games. There is a big big difference between RE4 remake for the wii and NGS for the ps3.
RE4 is the same game just enhanced a bit and has the features that were on the ps2 version, so its actually almost the same game. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a true next gen experience, with the graphics upgraded and u can tell the difference alot between the old versions and the new version. It also has 3 to 5 new levels that have never been played on the other 2 versions. Also added Rachel as a playable character with her side of the story which also wasnt in the old versions. Also new weapons and moves and combos that werent in the old versions. Also there are new enemies that werent in the old ninja gaiden games. New hard difficulty which is the ninja gaiden trademark for games being so hard to beat. Even a few levels were re-created and look different from the old versions. U also get new outfits and stuff for both Ryu and Rachel. U also can play the demo which is on the PSN Store now and as a reward, when u buy the game and start it up, team ninja said based on how many points u earned on the demo, u can exchange it for yellow orbs that way u can start off the game and make it easyer for those who find NGS too difficult for them, which every ninja gaiden game was challenging in its own right. And to top it off all the cut scenes that were CGI movies in the first 2 games, are now playable in NGS, and here is a video showing one of the cut scenes where in the other 2 ninja gaiden games u automatically died, but now u have a chance to kick Doku's a$$ in this cut scene, and they also said u are suppose to lose to him just like what happened in the old versions in the cut scene but u are able to beat him and if u do, there will be a special item for u. Anyway, all the improvments still doesnt change the fact that 80% of the content is already in NG:B, updated graphics and real time cutscenes dont add anything to content so dont matter at all.

Im not gonna argue no more because this arguement is not gonna stop us from buying this game u havent played. All im gonna say is that it is named Ninja Gaiden SIgma for a reason. If it was the same ninja gaiden port u all try an claim it to be the game wouldve been named Ninja Gaiden or Ninja Gaiden Black but since it aint, its a different name. Anyways AAA or AA doesnt matter no more because all I know is this game will be great and im gonna be one of the few million who buy this game. :)
Im not gonna argue no more because this arguement is not gonna stop us from buying this game u havent played. All im gonna say is that it is named Ninja Gaiden SIgma for a reason. A name doesnt make a game exclusive, but i agree, no point in argueing as no matter what its gonna be a great game even if you have played NG:B and if not its gonna be a amazing game. ;)
I'll definately be getting this game when i get my PS3, even though i already have NG:B, the game is a keeper and having the best version (NG:S ) with its extra content etc. will give me more reasons to replay the game (again) and wont look as bad in a few years when i go back to it.Â
20% exclusive? 80% port?
Every article starts out with NGS devs upset that people are calling it a remake. Dear devs; Don't do remakes and people won't call your games remakes.
Well then it's probably a pretty good game that all PS3 owners should pick up. It will sell well in Japan, and decent here in the US and Europe. I don't consider the game a PORT because it's not, but it's not exactly a completely exclusive game...But it will be to the millions of people who play it.

You do know NG didn't sell a million on Xbox. It came close but didn't make it.
So what makes you think it will sell "millions" on PS3.Â
damn right it will !
NGS and Folklore are coming out this month in Japan and I'm sure they will sell well and boost PS3's appeal.

Because if it were on the ps2, I guarantee it would have sold a couple of millions. The difference between ppl who owned a ps2 and ppl who owned an xbox is that most ppl who digged xbox, loved online games and were big halo fanatics. Yes there were some that liked other games but those were prolly the few million who also owned a ps2 but the truth is ps2 owners love all types of games, where most xbox owners loved fps games simply because like I said, microsofts strengths are because of there online gaming community which is xbox live, so u would understand why most of the games were shooters, where as for ps2 owners there were so many different type games for different genres it would be hard to say which game was ppls favorite because sony had games for all genre's of gaming which is why I brang this up because I know NGS will do well on ps3, and yes even with a fanbase of 3 million + users that own a ps3, I think Sigma will sell over a million copies on the ps3. Another reason why I think it will do good is because not many games are out for the ps3, and I know there are alot of anxious ppl waiting for a new game to come along and what better then to buy ninja gaiden sigma, and the game will also last for a few weeks, mattering on how much u play but also ppl will know that it was a good game and for those who never had a chance to play it, they will have there chance now.
