So is Final Fantasy XIII the worst FF game?

I think it's the lowest scored so far. Btw, this doesn't include side crap like Crystal Chronicles and X-2.

Final Fantasy games before 4 haven't aged well at all, so FFXIII is middle of the line in terms of FF games out there.hiphops_savior

I've yet to play Final Fantasy XIII, but i'm quite excited. I don't know a whole lot about the story, just the setting and a general premise.

I've always wanted to play and finish Final Fantasy 6, 10, 7, 8, and 12.

Only one i've actually ever finished has been Final Fantasy 4, and i did like that one.

I have hard to believe FF13 is worse than FFX and FFX2, worse games ever IMO

On an aside Edge gave Final Fantasy X-2 a 7/10 and Final Fantasy XIII a 5/10... :|

Gamespot hated the girl with the annoying voice so much that it lowered a whole .5 :P

But seriously, I liked the old rating method more.

Take off 10% from all the other scores to see what they would get if reviewers were confused about whether "linearity" was evil or not.

Depends I guess. I dont mind linear maps. I actually perfer them over huge ones since it makes it less of a headace for me. I dont care for towns in jrpgs at all now. I dont care if I can talk to a npc that says "i hate mondays" I just dont. I also never cared for side mini games in ff. Im fine with sidequest. If anything this one seems to evole with my taste. So hell I can see this being one of my favorites. In the end one of the major important parts in a ff for me is the combat.

If FFX was released with the same review "standards" in place, it likely would have averaged the same or lower.

Considering you have to pay for a Subscription and they are considered Numbered Final Fantasys.

I can't even place when linearity became such a bad thing. FFX was incredibly linear yet still one of my favorites. It seems like no one can be pleased. You have FF purist who want to wonder around getting in random battles on a world map and WRPG purists who think tackling a mediocre story broken up by optional sidequests is particularly less linear.

Haven't played FFXIII yet but surely it can't be worse than FFXII. I didn't like that one at all.

while they do bear the name final fantasy i don't feel that 10,12 or 13 are really final fantasy games. i think after 9 they forgot what they were and just started making giant rpg's with final fantasy stuff in it. i think part of what myself and other people liked in previous games is travelling around the world and seeing locations and thinking "i wonder what that is... do i get to go there during the storyor is that a side quest etc etc etc" ive said it before and i'll say it again : sometimes smaller teams of people can do more with less than gigantic mega companies can with all the money and time and staff in the world.

TC you seem to be forgetting FFXI and FFIX exist, although FFIX got an 8.5 as well, I think. And even so since when is an 8.5 bad? Its not the end of the world that FF13 didn't get an AAA score, just buy the game, enjoy it and get the **** over the score. That's what I'm going to do (except I never cared about it getting an 8.5).

After playing numerous RPGs this gen,FF13 biggest fail is that you have nothing to do in the game...I am not sure if i would call it RPG,more like action game.
