So, is it safe to say Mass Effect 2 is the most compelling game of 2010 so far?

Well, I've played a lot of amazing games this year so far. I must say, though Heavy Rain, GoW 3, and FF13 were AMAZING, Mass Effect 2 had the most compelling impact on me. I mean, everything abou that game was almost flawless.....

Nope, I actually have liked HR, FFXIII, and GoW more than ME2 so far this year.

I enjoyed Heavy Rain more. ME2 was a stellar game, but HR just did for me is all.

Heavy Rain, Mass Effect2 and Darksiders is those games i enjoyed most this year so far. Only bad/boring with Mass Effect 2 is scanning planets:P

It's a toss-up between that or Heavy Rain. I really liked Mass Effect 2 when I was playing it, but I think that Heavy Rain will always stick out more in my mind for being so unique.

It's close tie between Heavy Rain (although some parts in the game werepretty bad)and ME2. Alan Wkae will be the clear winner though.

Too many Ps3 fanboys to skewer the results of the poll, sad but true. Even if it isn't the most 'compelling' it's still the best game to release this year, by a marginal distance.

I can't believe all the Heavy Rain > ME2 comments. Wow. Heavy Rain is just so mediocre. Maybe it's just the PS3 fanboy urges making their way out.

well, if you wanna consider JUST 2010... i'd have to agree. ME2 is definitely the most compelling. but this gen as a whole? i'd have to go with ACII. that game just blew me away.

I don't know about "most compelling", but it's certainly a badass game that I love. I expect it to still be totally in the running for GOTY nominations at year's end. Sure, as others have pointed out (even I pointed it out in my review), the main story can lag a bit, but recruiting the team IS the main story. It seems to be gearing up for 3, and the way the story is delivered, executed, and voice-acted, it's among the best in the industry.Hahadouken

best game this year imo, but not the most compelling.

I personally connected more with the Bioshock 2 narrative and heavy rain more on a thematic level than ME 2.

Heavy Rain sucks..........at first glance, yeah it looks great. Then you see all the plot holes and logic problems in the plot, especially with that god awful plot twist. if the game was a movie, it would have been laughed out of the film festival. Add terrible voice acting into the mix. FFXIII is the worst FF main series game and does not deserve to even be said in the same sentence as ME2 God of War III is all style no substance, meaning no GOTY. Really it will be between ME2, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout New Vegas. Last Guardian, and Alan Wake.texasgoldrush

Yes it's epic, compelling, immersive etc.

i haven't played ME2 just yet (i bought it online and it's on it's way) but ME was amazing to say the least and it won't an exaggeration to say that it is the best game so far in this year and it's hell of a lot better than GOW3 imoWings_008
