Like I said in your Video Bond.

Possibly the main reason(s) why the WiiU isn't getting most of the new 3rd Party Games is probably

A) That strange CPU they got there.

and

B) The more Devices a Game is released, the Higher the Development costs. Which would make sense, since many 3rd Party PC games are either Delayed or Ported in favor of the Console. (Delayed and ported to cut costs.)

LegatoSkyheart

CPU shouldn't be an issue since it doesn't stop my tablet PC running console ported multi-platform games.

what games are those?

AMD C-50/C-60/E-350/E-450/Z-01/Z-60 examples

1. C-50's Gears Of War, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q40Dg6w9UZc

2. C-60's Portal 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chkChw_cEwA

3. C-60's Dirt 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TI7pLN1Bvqs

4. E-350's Crysis 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teHC8mmOCGY

5. E-350's Mass Effect 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ITcjnjIQsM

6. E-450's Dirt 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I-k0cPXAkc

AMD C-50/C-60/E-350/E-450/Z-01/Z-60 APUs uses dual core AMD Bobcat CPU cores (tiny CPU cores) and Radeon HD with 80 stream processors config.

Base on GPU's die size and 64bit DDR3 memory, Wii U's GPU is similar to Radeon HD 7550M/7570M (400 to 480 stream processor config) .

What do people expect from a kiddy platform? I'm sure it'll get all the sesame street, fisher price and playskool games.

Well, PowerVR enabled tablets says hi i.e. they get plenty of 3rd party supports due to the install base and still has GPU performance worst than AMD Radeon HD 6250M. Btw, PowerVR SGX 54x has DX9 level features.

Wii U must build it's install base.

Yes, the devs are going to move onto next gen hardware, the Wii U won't be able to handle the same games. They'll get different ones by the same publisher, like with the Wii.

The WiiU is a flop right out of the gate. dead on arrival with no games. No bioshock for it either lol

Most of those games had already started development before the Wiiu had been announced. So I can see why developers wouldn't bother. But from here on a lot more games should be coming over

uh, wasn't going to..? They ported those over because they wanted to? Or Nintendo had specifically wanted those games to help round out the WiiU's library at launch. Its not realistic to expect every game that has already been in the works to just switch over to the WiiU when it wasn't in the original plans. Now that it is out when developers start work on a game it will be easier for them to make a wiiu because they won't have to drop everything deep into the development cycle when they probably have 1000 other things to worry about than porting it to the wiiU.

List of multiplatform games in development long before these developers ever had the ability to get a devkit. We'll see in a year or so when these new consoles are out. They will either co(kblock Nintendo again, or be held back by the lowest common denominator.

Certainly seems that way. And a lot of those who bought into the hype of the original Wii only to toss it in their closets after a month aren't likely to be so willing to give the Wii part 2 a shot.

Seems a bit better than Wii was but still not much better...

I think they will soon have to resort to plan b, that is making/getting as many attractive and good exclusives as they can.

Once again, Nintendo has made a system that will end up only being good for playing the games Nintendo publishes themselves, and as I have ever since I stopped buying Gamecube games, I question why they are even in the console race anymore.

Timstuff

They intentionally did it. For a system that sells for $350 you can get a lot better tech inside if you wanted. Nintendo designed the WiiU to be a 1st-party haven with massive profits on hardware. They want to stifle the competition.

Reminds me of the NES days when they told their third-party publishers that they could only publish 4 NES games a year each.

Except back then everyone wanted to make games for them but today they have to bribe the 3rd parties to even consider making games for their (home) systems...

I'm ok with it. As long as Nintendo keeps producing a solid stream of the best 1st party titles in the industry as they have done for every generation prior to this one, I'm satisfied. I usually have Nintendo's console for their exclusives and Sony's console for the multiplats every generation.

While I agree it's baron right now, aren't a lot of these games that had planned development cycles?

santoron

/grammarnazi.jpg:P

Absolutely. At the same time, the publishers had more notice than we did about the WiiU's launch and capabilities... and we knew 1 1/2 years in advance.

Every game on the list has it's own challenges in development, but a healthy number could've been prepped for a WiiU release if the publishers wanted them. And hey, several of them still might. If Nintendo was serious about wanting to bring core gamers back to their system, then they are likely pushing hard with publishers to expand support ASAP.

Well out from the gate it's looking ok. Darksiders 2, Mass Effect, AC3, Ninja Gaiden are a positive look for now. As game said if it's looking like this by 2014 then we know nintendo has screwed the pooch. But with colonial marines, Bayonetta 2, Rayman, 007 ( I know it sucked), The Amazing spider man. I think it goes to show they're at least trying right now. In the future who the hell knows.

It definitely looks like it, but I have a hard time caring considering I own other systems. I think the big issue here, is you don't want developers to be afraid to develop for your platform. Nintendo may not be able to rely on exclusives for much more than a year. When newer consoles come out, one has to assume that people are going to tend to buy the system that: a) Has better graphics (Just assuming here, given that they will release 1+ year after the Wii U) b) Similar amount of exclusive titles c) Better 3rd party support.

3rd party support should be better than the Wii but that's not saying much. Either way, I think most 3rd party publishers will ignore the WiiU

Well we will have to see what the devs do with it. So far the multiplats for it look the same as the other two systems, no point in rebuying them. I will be getting a Wii U because I think it's going to be a great system, but there is no way it's going to be considered true next gen. It simply won't be able to handle the real next gen games.

It hasn't even been out a month yet and already you're judging this? It already has all the big name games as well as Nintendos assurance that they are focusing on getting third parties. Seriously, you complain about it on the Wii and then when they try and fix it, you judge them within a month of launch. Just sad.

  • Western multiplats? Yes
  • Japanese core? Undecided. We will see how the battle for Japan will unfold. There is nothing stopping Wii U from taking the role as the core home console (as well as casual), gaining more marketshare from Sony there, thus securing Japanese 3rd party support in the same way 3DS destroyed Vita.
  • If Wii U is a success there and PS4 only mildly so, we will probably see the western-centric Japanese tier (MGS, RE, Hitman, FF) make an appearance on Wii U.

Still, Wii didn't have games of the Rayman Legends, MH 3U, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2 caliber in its 1st year on the market.

I'm personally more concerned about the Japanese core market. I hope that Wii U becomes the go to machine for 1st party Nintendo and 3rd party Japanese games. That way I don't need a secondary home console, and can play some PS4/720 games I want on Steam instead. Basically I want my Dynasty Warriors / Platinum Games games / Metal Gear Solid / etc. fix without having to shell out for a new, rather expensive, system.
