plenty of time indeed. people will always find excuses for both system's weak libraries though...
plus it's time to stop calling 360/PS3 "next gen"
I agree, ppl should stop using "360's been out for an extra year" as a defence, the words are right, but then again, 360 will always be a year older than the others (excluding PC), and the argument means nothing, now is now not a year before.
"360 didn't have a good library a year ago" while it does now and that's what matters.
here in England both are easy to find, but PS3 i dont are selling that well here atm most of my friends still dont have it (mainly price), i think its time for the PS3 o be directly compared to the xbox 360.

6 months is honestly enough time for atleast 3 solid games, PS3 by my count has only 2 worth playing both which I have resistance and oblivion.6 months and what have we got from the PS3?
1) Resistance: A game that visually looked rushed and was pretty much a Halo rip-off in every way possible
2) Motorstorm: An Arcade racer with 1 gameplay option and no splitscreen multiplayer. Nuff said.
3) VF5: A "next-gen" fighter with no new gameplay modes and no online. Again, nuff said.
4) Genji: Days of the Blade: Nice idea, too bad the camera is nothing more than a drunk uncle that ruins it.
5) F1 CE: Good sim that's hard to get into if your not a really hardcore fan of F1. Seriously, I tried.
6) MLB 07: The Show: Poor visuals and cruddy fielding leaves this thing in the dust.
Â
wow, way to go Sony. Oh, and I didn't even bother to mention the pathetic Untold Legends and Gundam games.

IMO, it shouldn't be an excuse for 1st/2nd party titles (but then for example the Wii already did put out some good first-party games. It is pretty logical that MP3, SSB Brawl and Mario Galaxy aren't out yet. Same could hold to a lesser extent for the PS3 and 360.)
But it is a good excuse for 3rd party developers... but I agree that that shouldn't automatically mean that the great 3rd party games will come >1 year after the system's release.Â
ok resistance was a pretty good game, motorstorm agreed VF 5 was ok genji didnt even bother not into f1 racing and mlb 07 aside from 1up has gotten solid reviews, i bet you havent even played it yet, it runs so much smoother than 2k7 on ps3 its a good game.6 months and what have we got from the PS3?

Within 6 months, a console ought to at least have one killer app. I can count two for the Wii: Wii sports and LOZ:TP.
I can't count a single one for PS3Â though...(and no, Resistance doesn't count, sorry)
wii already has zelda as a killer app. later this year wii will get 3 more: pokeman, mario, metroid, and ssbb. what more could you ask for in wiis lineup. 5 of nintendo's top franchises in 1 year.Â
the good games will start rolling in this summer. remember it took 360 1 year to get its only killer app. just wait until the holiday season for the ps3. sony is going to annialate the competition this year.
when are we going to stop hearing that we should give them time since they just launched? it's been six months. that sounds like plenty of time to me. :?CaseyWegner
Considering that it takes around 8 to 14 months to develop a game for a console, I'd say you have until septemberish before you stop hearing that excuse.Â

Hey now! I've played MLB. It does run smoother, at times. Some animations are really clunky don't ya think? As for the stadiums and player models....they look like crap. Come on, no turning a blind eye now. Plus, gameplay hasn't changed at all from the PS2 version, which was a great game mind you.

yeah the graphics seemed like a ported ps2 game, they looked good at times and certain parts were mediocre but the gameplay is what i like they didnt really need to change much from the gameplay of ps2 since it was so awesome.[QUOTE="masterdeviance"]Within 6 months, a console ought to at least have one killer app. I can count two for the Wii: Wii sports and LOZ:TP.

Nah. "Killer App" usually means a game that scores well and is recieved well by the general public. In other words, it doesn't just sell itself, it sells consoles. Oblivion isn't really doing that. It didn't do that for the 360 either.Â

But Lemmings got to use that excuse when the next-gen was actually new. Now Sony enters the market thinking its the new-breed of gaming, but its not. Hence why the Wii's got the right idea by offering a million or so virtual console games and good 1st party titles like Zelda and Wario Ware. PS3 just entered the next-gen market thinking, ok the next-gen wars start now cause were here, and got the butts kicked.
Oh, and before Gears, Lemmings had Kameo, Dead Rising and other GOOD games to talk about. PS3? Well, a Halo clone, an arcade racer with one gameplay option and no multiplayer and a fighter with no online or new gameplay options. And any other killer-ap PS3 has is just garbage (Genji, Gundam) So Lemmings win on that one mister InfamousCow.

Really?
6 months of X360 they had: CAll Duty 2, DOA 4, Madden, Need 4 Speed M. Wanted, Perfect DZ, PGR 3, Tony Hawk, King Kong, Quake 4, Kameo, Fight Night R 3, Full Auto, Ghost Recon A. War, Oufit, Battlfield 2, Burnout Rev, Rumble Rose XX, X-men 3.
Did I miss anything?
PS3 same time period: Tony Hawk, Marvel Alliance, Call of Duty 3, Resistance Fall of Man, Madden, NBA 07, Ridge Racer, Need for Speed Carbon, Sonic the Hedgehog, Genji 2, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, F1 Racing, Def Jam Icon, NBA Street Homecourt, Motorstorm, Armored Core 4, Virtua Tennis3, Splinter Cell Doubt Agent, Spiderman 3, F.E.A.R, MLB 07.
Fanboy or not, if you didn't complain about X360's lineup and complain about PS3's lineup for the first 6 months......you don't have a leg to stand on.

i said "good" games. games that qualify as good in system wars are AA and above.
Wii / PS3 have been out for 6 months.
360 has been out for 18 months.
So 360 has been out for 3 times as long as the PS3 / Wii.
So when you consider that I'd say both the PS3 and the Wii are doing good.

Only a fool wouldn't wait for the games that are releasing this fall (on both the Wii and PS3). I have all three and I think that the Wii is lacking more compared to the other two consoles at the moment :(.
The only reason people tend to believe that there are no "good" games to play on the PS3 is becuase of no AAA title here on GameSpot. Fans forget that the PS3 is selling very well, especially with actual next-gen competition.
The Wii is somehow excused most of the time for lack of games due to it's crazy sales.

Now it's about scores? Games are games regardless of scores. Looking outside of SW scores, they can be fair or less in comparison. But if you put those scores aside, then you have a even amount of games.
What was the point of this thread again?

Compare the releases of the first 6 months of the 360. Not much difference in number of games and sales (and europe has released only 2 months ago). In my book resistance own every 360 laucnh game by far. Did you even see what's comming? (drake's fortune, lbp, home, ff13, mgs, ratched, ninja gaiden, socom, GT and then there's team ico, god of war etc.). They have alot of variety setup while the 360 is going the shooter route again.
Wii is another story. Doesn't interest me but they're succeding in sales apparently. Just not a gamers machine but a party crowd getter.Â

Wrong. It's the motion-sensing software that the technology enables. Only a small minority composed of enthusiasts purchase hardware because they actually have interest in the hardware itself. For the bulk of the market, acquiring the hardware is simply an obstacle to overcome in order to play the games they want to play. You're forced to buy a DVD player to watch movies, and you're forced to buy a Wii to play Wii Sports or Super Paper Mario or Rayman Raving Rabbids or Zelda.
